(Graded) Deep Dive #2 - Nevada Battleborn

There are teams like Kelowna and Vancouver, who are really good and make it far into the playoffs.  Then, there are teams like Newfoundland who have a surprisingly fantastic season and completely obliterate everyone's predictions.  Next are the mediocre teams, the ones who did good, but were not near to being the best. And then, there are those that just tank, not because they can or wanted to, but because of how fresh the players are.  This team that I'm talking about is the Nevada Battleborn.  The Nevada Battleborn are full of rookies, and so it was no surprise to see them at the bottom of the standings the entire year, and get swept in the first round of the playoffs.  However, they have learned a lot, and in 2 or 3 seasons, they will be one of the better teams in the league, if not the best.  From the 2 Cervids on the team (Sam Siege the deer and Melvin Moose), a wurmple, the best and worst goalie in the league in Willie, and some good locker room guys in Conner Snooks and Anton Harrier.  Each individual player on the team has done very well in their training and looks good out on the ice.  Willie especially since he has the most saves of any goalie in the SMJHL (Although he also has let in the most shots over everybody too) which should make him a goalie to strive for in the upcoming SHL draft.  Although a rookie himself, Melvin Majestik-Moose has been a great captain for the team, and keeping his side of the rink in check, figuratively and literally, and talking to everyone on the team to keep their spirits up when we are down from a bad loss.  Plat, the Assistant Captain, has also done very well for being a rookie in a captain-like role.  He plays his heart out on the ice, and also reminds everyone to do their training every week.  Sam Siege, although shy at first, has really been an active locker room member and has proven to be helpful at times on the ice.  Although his style of play doesn't show on the stats sheet, he's a great puck passer, and an all around winger, being able to play offense and defense really well.  Anton has been as good a veteran as possible, with the task of being the only player who isn't a rookie on the team.  He likes to talk about his video games and is always here to cheer the team on.  And then there are the General Managers: Jess and Jay.  The J team, in charge of the J team of all J teams has been amazing in helping us learn and understand the game as it pertains to the SHL.  Although he hasn't talked much, Jay is very helpful when he is asked something.  Jess, on the other hand, has been great at talking with the team daily, joking around with us when we don't need to work and is able to answer most questions.  She has been a great friend who just also so happens to be a manager.  With the 2 of them in charge, Melvin and plat being the captain and assistant captain, and a group of good guys willing to put in the effort, we may be a force to be reckoned with, not because of any individual standouts, but because together, we all standout.  They were born to battle as a team, and will headbutt the competition in seasons to come.
