Pick 23 Overall - Yannick Svoboda RW

The second ever draft pick for the Regina Elk has, unlike Jaeger Jones, started off his season a bit slow. This could be chalked up to a few reasons, but the most likely being that he has been playing on the third think in a matchup role, often competing against the other team’s top line-up. Additionally, he hasn’t been getting a lot of powerplay time, which in college was his specialty. It would also be nice to see Yannick’s linemates potting a few more of his setups, as his passing is often tape to tape. Moving forward, expected to see a lot more of Yannick as he’s doing all the right things, with the right skill set, but currently just isn’t putting up the results we all expect.
Yannick Svoboda currently projects as a shifty offensively driven forward. He excels in open ice, where he can get off his impressive shot or one of his accurate passes. To get open Yannick has top end speed, acceleration, and agility, which allows him to find the open space that he needs.

Rebecca is currently looking like a steal of the draft, despite still being highly drafted. She has a huge bank roll, great coaching, and great reaction times. Despite play for an expansion team, who are projected to be at the bottom of the standings, she has preformed game after game; her save percentage stands as 4th best in the whole SMJHL. Despite her performance, the coaching staff has been keeping her work load light, but expect to see a lot more games being played as the backup has shown that he cant compete backstopping for this rookie defensive core.

Rebecca has all the tools to be a top goalie in this league for many years to come. She is highly proficient in Positioning, rebound control, recovery, and reflexes, and there is currently not a lot of holes in her game. The biggest weakness would be her puck control and passing skills, but many elite goalies have forgone these skills, rather focusing on stopping the puck first and foremost. Rebecca has also shown to have a huge bankroll and seems to have endless money, which has afforded her the ability to buy the best coaching and training, and obvious leg up on the competition. It will be interesting to watch her career play out.
