This will show the average TPE per player, per position group. These numbers will be ranked 1-10: Purely looking at TPE, here is each team ranked: 1. UCORCAL 2. Sweden 3. USA T-4. DACH T-4. World T-6. Finland/Norway T-6. Canada 8. British Isles 9. North America 10. Young Guns With these numbers in mind, here is how I feel the teams will fare: 1. UCORCAL - UCORCAL takes the gold! UCORCAL leads every position group and is extremely balanced, with a good reserve of players to keep the team fresh. Barring multiple upsets, look for UCORCAL to compete for the top spot. 2. Sweden - Sweden is in a great position to compete for the gold medal. They're one of the most balanced teams in the tournament, with all of their position groups in the top four. Look for Sweden to be the biggest challenger to UCORCAL for the top spot. 3. DACH - While DACH may not have the highest rankings, I think this will be a team that surprises people and heavily competes for a medal spot. They are extremely balanced and have a huge defensive corps that will allow them to keep players fresh. With a few upsets along the way, look for DACH to make some noise. 4. USA - USA is going to be one of the biggest question marks for me heading into the tournament. While they have some of the top forwards and defensemen, the Achilles' heel will be goaltending. Their tandem ranks ninth and while they should score plenty of goals, this will keep them out of a medal spot. 5. Canada - Canada is a balanced but average to below-average. While I think they will over-perform, I don't think they have quite the skillset to compete for a medal spot. 6. Finland/Norway - It will all be up to goaltending for Finland/Norway. They have the third best tandem that includes one of the SMJHL's best in Olof Karsikko. With below average offensive and defensive corps, this is a team that will go as far as the goalies can take them. 7. World - Team World is another team that will rely heavily on goaltending. Having the second best goalie tandem paired with the eighth ranked forward corps will make this a low scoring, defensive team. They will need their forwards to over-produce if this team wants to compete for a medal spot. 8. British Isles - This was a tough call. While BI's skaters are in the middle of the pack, their goaltending ranks last. This is a big concern when trying to compete in a tournament. If the goalies can play higher than their TPE says, look for BI to finish higher than this spot. 9. North America - It'll be a fight to keep out last place for North America. Their slightly better positional rankings, along with having a full defensive corps, should most likely keep them out of that spot. 10. Young Guns - It's going to be tough for the Young Guns, who are last in 2/3 position groups. Only having three defensemen on the roster, as well, won't help anything. Let's hope they can snag a few games and pull a few upsets along the way.
