Jones leads off the inaugural Elk draft class. He showcased all the skills he was drafted for this past season, putting up double digit goals and assists, while doling out 154 hits. He needs to look to improve his discipline next season as he was only 1 minute shy of triple digit penalty minutes. He also needs to look at picking his moments to fight as he lost all seven he took part in this past season.
After some mid-season controversy over starts, Montagne took the ball and ran with it for the last part of the season. She made the best of what she was given with a young Elk team, but looks to be primed for a solid season next year as the team in front of her improves.
The Elks resident tough guy…...or moth….Titanus Mosura showed his edge all season finishing with 149 hits and 20 points from the back end. Now if only we could figure out how Regina got equipment for a giant moth…..
Another rookie defenseman, Berglund had a strong first season. 23 points had him second on the team in scoring for defenseman and he showed off his tough defense by throwing in 80 blocks and 81 hits to boot.
McLavish had a rough first year in Regina. After somehow stealing starts from starting goalie Montagne, he finished with some ok overall numbers but only 6 wins. He went dark as the season went on so we will have to see if Regina keeps him around past his rookie season.
Kikuchi was one of two rookies on the Elk this year to hit double digit goals. The left winger has carved himself out a nice possible shot at line two minutes and first unit powerplay time in the coming season.
McNast came into the season as your typical stay at home d-man, but flashed some offensive skill finishing with 23 points on the year to go along with 84 blocks and 86 hits. Look to see him improve on his totals as Regina moves into its second campaign.
One of the biggest risers on the team, Goodenough had a quiet first season, but really came into his own as the year came to a close. Look to see him keep improving as he battles Jones for the 1C spot next season.
Another big riser this past season, Svoboda really started to click in the final games of the year. Look to see him take on top pair duty next season and help lead Regina to a better finish.
Wright had a quiet first season. 14 points in 66 games while playing mostly 4th line minutes, not bad but not great. Another player that went dark pretty quickly, we will have to see what his future holds in Regina this coming offseason.
