[2x Draft][S62 Draft Preview] - Manhattan Rage
#1
(This post was last modified: 10-20-2021, 05:34 PM by RashfordU.)

Some important information that pertains to this Draft Preview.
When calculating what a “Max TPE Earner” makes for each draft class, I take the 5 highest earners and average them out.  From there, players are put into levels as follows:

A Level Prospect [90%+ TPE Earned]
B Level Prospect [80%+ TPE Earned]
C Level Prospect [70%+ TPE Earned]
D Level Prospect [60%+ TPE Earned]
E Level Prospect [50%+ TPE Earned]

To note, any IA SHL Player will not have a Player/Prospect Rating Level attached to their player.

Using @visceralpotamus as an Example [6th in S59 Draft Class]

The Average of the Top 5 Earners = 912 TPE
@visceralpotamus has earned = 886 TPE
TPE Earned Score of 97% = A Level Prospect

Later in the writeup you will see me extrapolate their earning of 97% out 4 Seasons to see what TPE level those players should be at.

Again using @visceralpotamus as an example.  Their 97% Earn rate would take them to 97% of the S55 Draft Class Top 5 AVG [1712] or an expected TPE in 4 seasons of 1661 TPE.

**Note** - One very important thing to keep in mind is that this information and data has nothing to do with what kind of Locker Room presence a player is.  That is something that simply cannot be quantified and there are many players around the SHL that bring huge value on that front.

Now onto our first team.

Manhattan Rage Organizational Depth

GM: @JayWhy
CoGM: @Citizen of Adraa

Blessed with an abundance of experience in the SHL, The Rage are led by JY (Jesper Aittokallio) and Adraa (Scaradog Jr.).  As it stands, Adraa is already in the prospect system as a S61 draftee, while Aittokallio shall be joining the fold this year automatically during the S62 draft.  It is great to see that the two GMs of the Rage will be right in the middle of the next chapter of Manhattan.

Forwards [4 Active]
[S44] Ola Wagstrom [IA] [1355]
[S53] Rocco Berni [IA] [1290]
[S54] Jack Klompus [Active] [1810] [97%] A Level
[S54] Guy LeGrande [IA] [1087]
[S55] Juni Panda [Active] [1045] [60%] D Level
[S58] Robot Guilliman [Active] [712] [64%] D Level
[S58] Tomas Lind [Active] [1035] [94%] A Level
[S58] Jesse Trudeau [IA] [619]

Defense [2 Active]
[S52] Ulrik Bergstrom [IA] [496]
[S55] Jed Mosley Jr [Active] [1209] [71%] C Level
[S56] Grandmaster Funk [IA] [484]
[S57] Jari Heikkinen [IA] [754]
[S57] Matty Sandeen [IA] [753]
[S60] Maxwell Carrigan [Active] [626] [86%] B Level

Goalies [1 Active]
[S54] Name Redacted [Active] [1619] [87%] B Level
[S55] Mertin Broduer [IA] [177]

The Rage are a slim roster, and it is no surprise that the team is rebuilding.  Currently boasting 7 active players (before accounting for any prospects being pulled up from the J), the Rage are clearly in a position of grabbing some quality prospects this draft class.  Looking at the actives, There is an old core of Klompus, Panda, Mosley Jr, and Redacted who bring some veteran presence.  It remains to be seen if the core is too far removed from the young prospect group working its way through Juniors though.  Will Manhattan trade these players in future years for more draft capital, or will they continue to be able to earn at a high level and be ready for when the next group is ready to make their mark.

It’s hard to say whether the forward group, or defence is needing more assistance, but looking at the prospect pool should confirm where the Rage stand.

Rage Prospect Depth

Forwards
[S61] Archangelo Scaradog Jr. [78%] C Level
[S61] Ahlo Kysoka [83%] B Level
[S60] Nikolai Ayerzov [67%] D Level
[S60] Anton Harrier [73%] C Level
[S59] Robert Black [88%] B Level
[S59] Robert E. O. Speedwagon [93%] A Level

The Rage Forward Prospects are good, though they are not made up of the elite TPE earning nature of their defensive counterparts, but still pack a punch.  One A [90%+] level prospect in Speedwagon, along with 2 additional B [80%+] level prospects and 2 additional C [70%+] level prospects.  One added bonus to their Forward group is that the talent is spread across 3 different draft classes, which will allow management to add to their Senior roster in bits and pieces each year without needing to make wholesale changes or risk losing players to a potential Waiver / Send-Down situation.

Speedwagon, currently 14th in the Season 59 Draft Class, appears to be a solid addition to the Senior Squad in the upcoming season.  If they can continue to maintain their earning percentage relative to the top 5 earners in the draft class, you should see them sitting around 1600 TPE in 4 seasons time.  Along with Speedwagon, Black should also be joining the squad for the upcoming season, with the same calculation in mind, they should be sitting around 1525 TPE within 4 seasons.  Two solid additions to the Senior Roster in a much needed time.

Defense
[S61] Eddie Kastrba [96%]
[S61] Adelie de Pengu [100%]
[S61] Clem Fandango [78%]
[S61] Melvin Majestic-Moose [99%]
[S59] Granny PanPan [89%]

The Rage Defensive Prospects are elite.  Boasting 3 A [90%+] level prospects in Kastrba, de Pengu, and Majestic-Moose, along with an additional B [80%+] and C [70%+] level prospect.  de Pengu [2nd] and Majestic-Moose [8th] are two of the top prospects above the S61 crew.  Expect them to continue to be elite earners during their Junior careers.  Where can we expect these two in 4 seasons? It is fairly safe to assume they could be sitting anywhere between 1250-1275 TPE.

The team expects to see PanPan promoted to the Senior Roster (as exposing them to the Waiver system would most likely result in them losing a quality defensive prospect.  PanPan would be a solid 3rd addition this offseason with fantastic earning potential long-term.

Goalies

At this time, the Rage do not have any goalie prospects In their system, which is not a major concern at this time with Redacted on the roster.  Given that Redacted is only a S54 goalie, don’t expect the Rage to be grabbing a goalie prospect for atleast 5-7 more seasons.

Draft Capital [S62]
1st Round [1 / 15]
2nd Round [21 / 22 / 24 / 34 / 35]
3rd Round [42 / 58]

Draft Outlook

It’s no secret that the Rage are looking for offensive help.  Given their current draft capital, it seems most likely that they use their 1st Overall Pick on whoever they think is the biggest slam dunk of a forward prospect.  Late in the first round, I expect them to continue to grab the next best forward available.

The second round should be much of the same, given this is a deep draft, I expect Manhattan to have at least 5 forwards by the time they finish the second round, maybe even 6 if they do not find a solid depth defensive prospect in the late 2nd round.

As it stands right now, there are 38 prospects who would be considered an A [90%+] level prospect.  Even though it is safe to assume that some of these prospects will not be an A level prospect a season from now, you can expect with at least the first 5 picks that the Rage have, they should be able to get someone they feel very confident in.

Final Thoughts

For the Rage, the future looks good.  In the immediate future, they still project to be a lottery team looking to add draft capital and prospects, but you can see the team turning the corner in the next 4-6 seasons as their prospects continue to develop.  It is expected that Speedwagon, Black, and PanPan all graduate to the senior roster this year, but a robust draft class should see them add 5 A Level picks and most likely 3 B Level Prospects.

Only time will tell if these prospects PanPan [sorry Wink] or if they drop into IA land.  Fortunately, they’ll have plenty to choose from.

oh man, is this going to be a whole series? I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the teams look like, but also terrified of what SFP is going to be.
