S62 SMJHL PT #5 - MVP
#16

Lev Lebedev is the obvious and boring answer as he's been dominant on a really good team. He has 88 points so far and leads the league in goals, assists, and points. He definitely deserves consideration if not the award. But would a good team like Vancouver be okay without him? Probably. So if we are just talking about the MVP, as in it would be detrimental if the guy wasn't there, I have to look at someone like Scott Thorn of Kelowna or Konstantin Selich of Quebec. Both of these teams would feel the pain if they were without these individuals and while both teams have had mixed success, especially Quebec, one has to think those teams might be way worse off without their top players. That being said, he's insane to even try to overlook what Lebedev has been doing no matter what team he is on. So it's really his to lose.

This season there is not really a conversation to be had for the Ideen Fallah Trophy. Hands down the most valuable players in the SMJHL is Lev Lebedev of the Vancouver Whalers. With still three games left to play, Lev sits number one in the league in goals, assists, and points. Thanks to Lev’s performance, Vancouver sits atop the Mayfield Division and second overall in the J. Lev has had a truly dominant season and I don’t see many other players challenging for the honor of being the most valuable player. If anyone were able to be in the conversation for MVP it would probably have to be a goalie. Lev’s offensive dominance is too striking to have another skater pose a threat. Lebedev’s teammate Dominik Tretyak will probably get a few votes based on being the winningest goalie of this season. This paired with a 2.44 goals against average and a .914 save percentage make him the strongest non-Lev candidate.

There are many qualified candidates for the Ideen Fallah Trophy for MVP.
First of we have Lev Lebedev of the Vancouver Whalers. Leads the SMJHL in points with 91. Next closest person is Gonzo Gobbledygook at 74. That is a very dominating gap.
Next we have Vincent Fox of the Carolina Kraken leading the defense in scoring tied at first with 57 points. With only 1351 total time on ice, it is more impressive than the other person tied at first. The other person, Landon Fischermann of the Vancouver Whalers also finished with 57 points, however in 1523 total time on ice.
Lastly if they were to look at goalies. I would vote for Dominik Tretyak of the Ancorage Armada. With the best goalie record at 40 - 13 - 4 and a nice 0.914 to back it up. A nice balance between games played and save percentage.
Ultimately- my vote would go to Lev Lebedev
