S62 PT#5: Champion???
#1

I'm sticking with the dual prompt thingy for this season. With all of the prompt 1s over the season, I will allow the option to build a season long narrative if you stick with these prompts. Feel free to jump over to prompt 2 any time you don't feel you can continue, or jump over to prompt 1 if it feels fun to write about. Anyways, here we go.

Please pick ONE prompt to write about. Do not mix and match prompts. Identify the prompt you are using in your submission - Copying and pasting the prompt will deduct from your word count so if you do this make sure YOUR submission is 150+ words excluding the prompt.

PROMPT 1- Congrats again on your huge win last week against your semi-final opponent, and as you were gearing up to have a tough match against the Hall-of-Famers, you received news that the Superstars pulled off an incredible upset and won their game by 5 goals. Cain was a sieve! That's right, your finals opponent is the Superstars. Look at the top of the leaderboard for points/wins/assists,etc. Those are your opponents. (If you happen to be on team superstars then there was no upset and your opponent Hall-of-Famers are chomping at the bit to take this cup from you).

This is it. The final. Your opponent is ready, hopefully you are ready as well. The puck drops, and 60 minutes later we have a winner who happens to be....

Written Task: You decide! This is your story, if you've made it this far congrats. Now is the time to decide the fate of your player and your team. Describe the game, the big moments, and let us know whether you win or lose! Make it dramatic.(150+ words)

Graphic Task: Create a graphic depicting a great moment from this final game. Win or lose, any big moment you choose (rhyme time). Write the final score in your graphic, as well as identifying 3 players in your picture.

PROMPT 2- If you don't understand the previous prompt or that one doesn't sound fun to write about, try this prompt.

Written Task: Yeah the prompt 2s this season were boring as fuck, but that's how it goes when you try to be vanilla for everyone. But lets use our imagination here. If you are in the SHL playoffs/SMJHL playoffs, you want to win it all probably. So, do just that. Describe a playoff tree that has you winning all rounds en route to the cup. What opponents did you beat along the way? In how many games? Who was MVP and how did you do? If you aren't on a playoff team right now.... fuck it. Just put your team in for another team. Who cares? (150+words)

Graphic Task: Create a playoff bracket for the league that ends in your team winning. Must include all logos for playoff teams as they win/or are defeated each round. If your team is not in the playoffs just pretend you snuck in over the last team in your conference.

You will receive 3 TPE for fulfilling all requirements.

All responses are due on Sunday, December 12th at 11:59 CST. NOTE: IF YOU SUBMIT/EDIT AFTER THE DEADLINE YOU WILL RECEIVE REDUCED/NO TPE.

Affiliate claims from either PBE or ISFL or that WSLB thing are accepted; link directly to your post and note if your username is different there.
If you have any questions/concerns, please PM me. Tasks with malicious intent will not be graded. The graders reserve the right to determine malicious intent, after discussion with me. You will not be warned.

This task is for SHL players and send downs only, it is not for SMJHL rookies.[/b]

Man oh me oh my. The end of the season is here and we want to take it all the way and get ourselves a cup, eh? With the current playoff bracket, we're gonna have ourselves a time trying to get there. Currently as it stands the Philly forge need to beat out the Tampa Bay Barracuda to get into the second round. If we do that, then we face the winner of the Baltimore Platoon or the Atlanta Inferno? That sounds like a troubling time, Baltimore is an extremely talented team who could be on their way to at least the semi finals, if not the finals this season. So instead, let's play out a fantasy where we face Manhattan in the first round. Our very first game of the year we beat them 9-3. What a way to start off. Then next up, we'd face our fellow expansion team, the Montreal Patriotes. Then we'd go into the 3rd round against NOLA? That sound far fetched, but we're trying hard to get it to happen. A lot of mental gymnastics happening here. Then who to play in the finals? SFP? Minny? Eh, who cares, the west is bust. Our 73 points this season beat out 5 of the 8 play off teams in the west. know yer facts

For prompt 2,

No big surprises there, Calgary begins their playoff journey against Seattle for the 3rd consecutive time in the last 3 seasons or the SHL. The season has been going pretty well, but Calgary are on the back end of things as it is, Seattle being the frontrunner to proceed. Against all odds, Calgary defeat Seattle in game 7 and move on to face the LA Panthers - who they also take down in game 7, Cale Amundsen being huge in their series against the Panthers, saving 60 shots in game 7 while only allowing 2 goals behind his bars.

Come conference finals, Edmonto has made the biggest upset in recent SHL history knocking down Chicago in 5 games and they face their arch nemesis Calgary for the spot in the finals. 2 seasons ago it took 4 games, a season ago it took 5, and now it took 6 games for the series to end - in Calgary's favor. Esa Parmborg on his last season as a Dragon notches up 5 goals and 11 points in 6 games, leading the Dragons for the cup finals - where they face Baltimore Platoon, who made the second biggest upset in recent SHL history by taking down Buffalo Stampede in just 5 games. Home advantage is a real thing, since no games was forfeited to the opposing team, until Calgary takes down Baltimore in game 6, tying the series 3 wins for each, and taking hockey back to Calgary. The superior atmosphere in the Big Parm is too much to handle for the notorious Platoon, as they fall flat on their dull skates, losing 4-0 to Calgary in game 7 - Dragons win the cup. For the first time in a very long while

Well would ya look at that, the Blizzard are in the playoffs. In round 1 we have an incredibly difficult matchup against the top seeded Chicago Syndicate. Regular season history is not on our side for this one, but lets say we upset the juggernaut Syndicate squad in an incredibly tight best of 7 series. Coming off a surprising upset we have a date with the winner of the Minnesota Monarchs and Texas Renegades matchup. In this wacky timeline the Monarchs win too and it's a battle of the underdogs! The Blizzard prove victorious once again and dispatch the Monarchs in 6. Next up we go to war with the Central division and I think it's only fitting we match up with our provincial rival, the Calgary Dragons. I don't think the rivalry has been too heated as of late, but this series will reawaken some bad blood and need a full 7 games for Edmonton to claim victory. In our 4th and final matchup we draw the Hamilton Steelhawks. Our S50's rival that stole a cup or two from us. History is once again not on our side, but we silence the critics and win it all!! Edmonton has very much been a score by committee team of late so I don't see any one player standing out as MVP. In this timeline our road to the championship is built on solid goaltending so MVP honors will go to Mr. Tyler "The Tater" Ward. Congrats man.

Thanks for the sig ragnar!

Colorado has had a very odd season. After a great season last year we were primed to make a big push. We started the season in a rough place and managed to turn around. We ended the season bad though instead of locking up a better playoff spot. Hopefully those bad games are out of our way and we roll on from here. First round we face QCC. After they traded away players they are somehow winning still. We take the series against them 4-2 though and don't slow down. In the second round we play KEL. Sadly we won't sweep them again as much as Ben Jammin wants us to. It goes to 7 games and we win 4-3. After that we face Carolina. We have had a lot of good games against them in the regular season and manage to get a 4-2 series win over them. This puts us in the finals and it is against the Newfoundland Berserkers. The finals go to 7 with us managing to win game 7 in overtime (our weakness all season). Gonzo wins the MVP after tearing up the scoring race in the playoffs.

Here in Los Angeles, we're headed to the playoffs on a good foot. We turned it on in the second half of the season, en route to a division win. There is some tough competition in the Western Conference, but if we can play like we have, we should at least get to the Conference Finals.

That's where it'll get tough. If we make it that far, our toughest time is probably going to come in the form of Chicago or Texas. Our hope is that when they face each other in the Semis, they beat up on each other so much that we can take advantage of a tired and beat up group. If we somehow make it past that round, we find ourselves against some Eastern powerhouses. It'll either be Hamilton, Buffalo, or Baltimore and each team brings it own problems. Once again, we're hoping they wear each other down and we can pick the carcass of what's left. Tall task for sure, but if we're going to win it all this season, We need the elite teams to knock each other around and come into our series at less than 100%. Good luck.

Oh man this prompt has jinxing all over it. I can’t wait. So our first round opponent is Atlanta. I definitely want to play the Inferno in the first round, but I’d be ok playing Toronto again like last season. It’s true, the Inferno did beat us in a series we probably should have won a couple of seasons ago, but there’s a huge difference this time. Baltimore is far better than the team that lost back then, so this should be a lot different. After we trounce Atlanta in five games, only losing a single game in Atlanta, we are off to Tampa after they dispatch Philly in seven. This might actually be one of our toughest opponents right here as they have done well against us this season. I’m sure we could win, but it won’t be easy and I’ll say we finish them off in six games. After that, it’s Buffalo after they defeat Hamilton in seven as well. I think with the right strategy, we could get by them, but it’s a very even matchup on paper. Once we pass Buffalo in game 7, we get our first finals appearance since the S40s against the surprising Calgary Dragons, who have coached their way into the finals somehow. After our regular season against them, we would openly welcome this opponent as we would put up double digit goals in a game or two and finish them off in our only sweep in the playoffs. All throughout the playoffs, Duncan would underperform like usual and instead the team would win because the defense and goaltending is incredible.
