[2x Media] First few weeks in the League

This has been a couple crazy weeks for Moritz. It all started off very calm when he decided to play in the SHL. He was very excited and he knew that it would be tough to find his footing in the league and make a name for himself but he was very determined to do exactly that! He worked especially hard in the weeks before the draft, just to get himself ready for the season and his new Team. He was welcomed to the league by some familiar faces! People he knew from his time with Lenard Graf(ISFL Rookie) cheered him on when he announced he’d play for the SHL. Due to the fact that Lenard just went through the same thing in the ISFL he could pass his experience onto Moritz. Lenard Graf just finished his Rookie Season in the big leagues of the ISFL after being Drafted third overall in the DSFL draft and 1st overall in the ISFL draft! They actually had a bet about who could get better draft positions. The fact that Lenard went 3rd and 1st was a massive surprise to them. It might have actually put more pressure on Moritz to perform and be worthy of being the 1st pick in the SMJHL!
Spoiler, as it happened, Moritz Seider actually went first overall to the Detroit Falcons! So, if Moritz Seider manages to go 1st or 2nd overall in the SHL Draft he will beat Lenard Graf!
Since the offseason of the SHL and ISFL synced up this time the two meet up in Baltimore where Lenard Graf currently plays for some off season Workouts. Even though they play different sports they could still workout together. They practiced their core, stamina and most importantly their mental toughness. Lenard Graf learned a lot about how to handle pressure in the ISFL and he passed all that knowledge to Moritz!
He also helped him out with preparing for scouting conversations.

Talking about scouting conversations…. I know, nice segway…. Moritz had a couple GMs or scouts reach out early due to the connection to Lenard Graf. Those teams were Detroit, Anaheim and Maine. One team actually reached out really early without the ISFL connection. It was the Newfoundland Berserkers! Huge props to the GM Nhamlet! More than deserved SMJHL Champion this season! Newfoundland actually picked up Moritz Seider on waiver just to help the rookie out with some cash and experience. Although Moritz wasn’t on the roster he was technically on the Championship winning team. So technically he’s a champion Wink
Obviously not but it’s fun to say, it has a nice ring to it.

The scouting conversations were very fun, a lot of questions about what his plans are for the seasons and what the teams can expect from him. He always told them the truth, he wants to be the best in his draft class! Which is especially tough because his draft class has some absolutely awesome recreates! With a lot bigger bank accounts Wink

Coming up to the Draft he had consistent contact with Sconnie, who is the Detroit GM. DET had the 1st overall and the 6th pick. Anaheim had the 4th pick so Moritz was pretty sure that he’d go to either of those two teams. In his mind it was more likely that he’d go with the 4th or 6th pick. Then madness happened….

Detroit announced a trade with the Regina Elks. Detroit sends pick 6, 15 and S65 2nd. For that they receive pick 2 and 17. Which basically means that DET now has #1 and #2…. Absolut crazyness! Wait…. did you think Sconnie is done? Nah, hell nah. There is more…

Alright, i won’t tell you the whole trade but basically DET now have the following picks, #1, #4, #15. Huge trade for DET basically getting everything back from their first trade with the exception that they made their #6 pick into the #4 pick. Yeah… same.. wtf… but huge congrats to Sconnie for pulling that one off! He’s gonna be really proud of that one.

So what exactly does that trade mean for Moritz?
Well, it looks like he’s gonna land in Detroit, one way or another! The real question is now, #1 or #4? Well, Moritz put himself at #4 in his own Mock, maybe he was just being humble but DET basically had the pick of the litter to grab the guy they wanted the most!

Let’s skip ahead to draft day! Moritz tried to watch the Draft with his family and his best buddy Lenard Graf. They spent the day working out a bit and throwing a football in the garden. Basically just trying to distract Moritz from the obvious! Right before the draft he talked a bit with Sconnie, the DET GM. All seemed to go well and Moritz was really excited about the possibility of going to DET. They’re going to build something great in DET and this would be a huge chance to join from the beginning!

The draft officially started and everyone was glued to the TV, DET was pretty quick to announce their pick. Moritz Seider #1. Moritz was very stunned, he didn’t expect it at all! The whole room exploded! Moritz was overwhelmed with excitement! He cried a lot during the phone call with DET. The DET war room was cheering very loudly in the background! Moritz will remember this day for a while!
After everything calmed down Moritz watched the rest of the first round with everyone. Cheered for the #4 pick Ctots!

Moritz made a lot of social media posts for the team. Greeting the fans and all that. The day after, Moritz flew to Detroit to meet his team and get settled. He managed to get a good hotel room and visited the team location.

The preseason can’t come quickly enough! Moritz is preparing really hard for the preseason and he got to meet his teammates and they were all really nice! This will be one hell of rookie season! Let's go Detroit!
