(GRADED) Deep Dive #2 - Atlanta Pimpferno

Today I'll be looking and scraping around the leagues history information to find as much as I can on this young team. At the humble age of just 7 seasons old, it makes it a little bit of a challenge, but there's definitely some deeper analysis to be had.

First off, the team is definitely run by furries. hotdog and glutes both have animal renders on the site so that's all the evidence you will ever need to prove that. The furries currently have a gross win percentage of .451, having won 201 games, lost 209 games and lost in OT in 36 games.

They have struggled to find success so far but are definitely not a bad team by any metric, more so just wildly inconsistent. They have made the playoffs in every single one of their seasons so far, and have made it past the first round in 4 of those (one season they got a bye), which gives them a 0.666 percentage and makes for a very similar but slightly better trend to their overall win lose statistic.
In terms of their respective league positions when they made it past the first round:
In S56 they placed 9th overall and defeated the New Orleans Specters who were in 8th, and were subsequently knocked out by the Hamilton Steelhawks who were 1st.
In S57 they placed 11th overall and defeated the Calgary Dragons who were in 5th, and were subsequently knocked out by the Hamilton Steelhawks who were in 1st.
In S58 they placed 10th overall and defeated the Los Angeles Panthers who were in 9th, and were subsequently knocked out by the Texas Renegades who were in 1st.
In S60 they placed 10th overall and defeated the Tampa Bay Barracuda who were in 12th, and were subsequently knocked out by the Buffalo Stampede who were in 1st.

I'll take a quick look at their three first round knockouts while we are here too, just to see how that metric stacks up in comparison to their wins.

In S59 they placed 12th overall and were knocked out by the Buffalo Stampede who were in 2nd.
In S61 they placed 12th overall and were knocked out by the Hamilton Steelhawks who were in 1st.
In S62 they placed 13th overall and were knocked out by the Baltimore Platoon who were in 2nd.

As you can see from the history laid out above, the Atlanta Inferno have had a tough run when it comes to their divisional matchups as a whole. It's well documented that the Great Lakes has been a problem for a long time, and Atlanta's success definitely suffered because of it so far. It's not all doom and gloom though, because making the playoffs every single season since you were created is a fantastic achievement in it's own right, and a lot of the teams Atlanta ran into have been established for a very long time in comparison (and even taking the scalp of Calgary in 57 was a win for them in that department).
The future looks a little less stable for Atlanta though, with only one of their most recent five draft picks keeping up the pace with their earning, and another being close.
Angus McFife XVIII in S59 is currently sitting 4th in his class at 1224 TPE (35 TPE behind).
From S60, Philip Demitra and Alfred Yankovic are roughly 600 TPE behind and have been released or traded.
Towelie in S61 is currently 21st in his class at 616 TPE (253 TPE behind).
and finally Viktor Krunk is 25th in his class at 571 TPE (102 TPE behind).

Time will tell as to whether this all pans out and Atlanta can claim their first cup, but it looks to be a rough road ahead for them regardless.
