The Season 47 draft class stands out in retrospect as a spectacular collection of players and users - to be honest, this seemed to be the case at the time, even. From an era where Reddit drafts were peaks to the surrounding valleys, the S47 draft stands out as being exceptional and a non-reddit draft. Fresh of the heels of the massive S46 Reddit class, S47 proved even mightier on its own. Especially compared to the other non-reddit classes of the S40s like the notoriously weak S44 and S49, 47 is all the more impressive.

Several recreates featured prominently in the draft class, headlined by then-Calgary GM Esa and his new player Esa Parmborg. Noah Gallagher, Akashi SixNine, Lallo Selman, Martijn Westbroek, and Theo Morgan also came from prominent returning users.

This draft class really shines with its first gen users, though. Many of these users are still around and highly active today, including SDCore, Carpy, Julio Tokolosh, hotdog (me), Jess, bbjygm, Aaron Wilson, and dmills. To get so many users still contributing at the level that they are, all essentially pulled from thin air, is such an incredible feat.

That isn't to say this class went without busts, however. Several prominent busts feature prominently in the first round - 1st overall Jax Duggan, 4th overall Filip Zadina, 5th overall Espen Knudsen Jr, 8th overall Cullen Gray, and 11th overall Sami Raanta. Tony Ford ultimate big bust. This also means that several late steals stepped up as well, including future hall of famers Theo Morgan, Aaron Wilson, and Harry Carpet all picked at pick 15 or later. Even the 4th round saw long careers come from Boris Poroshenko and Josef Kubinec.

Also prominent here is how many of these users contributed in management roles on the site. SDCore is currently the Chicago Syndicate GM (alongside fellow 47er jnh) but served previously as the league commissioner. Jess is currently Nevada Battleborn GM and serves in SHL Head Office. hotdog (me) previously held down the SHL PT Director role for many seasons and launched the expansion Atlanta Inferno in S56 after serving as Wolfpack co-GM. CampinKiller is currently the GM of the Montreal Patriotes and previously simmed for the SMJHL. blix, back from an absence, is also contributing as a simmer now of days. Carpy and Julio Tokolosh have been Graphics Wardens of various titles. bbjygm is a man of many contributions throughout the years.

As for player legacies, some of the best players of all time came from this draft, namely the aforementioned Aaron Wilson and Theo Morgan. Contributors on the notorious HAM superteams, these two players racked up plenty of stats throughout the seasons. Beyond those two obvious picks, Harry Carpet should make their way into the Hall of Fame as well after a lengthy (still ongoing) stay as the Toronto netminder. There will be decent Hall of Fame cases made for Corey Kennedy, Esa Parmborg, and Eko van Otter as well, who both combined peak excellence with sustained success. Julio Tokolosh and Slap McShotty may nudge their way towards the hall, too, with longevity to impress.

this draft class is really really great Smile
