S65 PT #5: Day With the Cup

An Argonauts cup win would result in a party the likes of which no one has ever seen. Upon returning to the celebratory rain in the city of Seattle, the team would spend multiple days in a drunken stupor, partying in any bar, restaurant, or club they please with a fairly unlimited budget. This would all culminate with the obligatory championship parade, after which the players would be able to decompress and spend a week recovering from alcohol poisoning. For Kermit Murphy, it would be particularly special to lift the very same Challenge Cup he'd watched his father hoist twice. He would be sure to spend a portion of his day at the cemetery in Hamilton, Ontario, where the late Tig Murphy was buried after his tragic death after his final SHL season. Being able to carry on the family tradition of being an incredibly mediocre defender that fails upwards is something Kermit feels strongly about, so celebrating a victory in a personal way would be perfect.

Prompt 1

It wasn't the high that Minamino had when it came to bringing the cup back to his hometown of Calgary, Alberta. He said it was much more of a subdued and relaxed environment. There were remnants of how excited everybody was to see the cop come back once more especially given that it had been years and years since the first time in me return with a cup. There was not as much fanfare nor the crowds quite as large but instead just a warm and gentle applause recognizing the effort it took to get to this point. Looking at the first time in amino had won the cup it was out of sheer excitement, a young player just breaking into the it somehow reaching the Pinnacle in terms of how quickly he had won the cup with his team the Chicago syndicate. Now, having set League records and overcoming multiple heartbreaks and lost leads, it was almost like a sigh of relief for both the player and his hometown to see the cup make a return.

Well well well well well, that's 5 wells, or the same amount of times that the 4 star cup has been submerged under a pool or in a lake or anybody of water really. They call that an underwater squeezer around here. Someone always has to be diving in after the cup and they'll squeeze the cup to being it up. So, anyways, the five craziest days where the cup got an underwater squeezer happened with 3 different teams in 3 different decades. The Manhattan Rage took it on in the early oughts of the league. It's believed to happen in s7. Although, the timing is still a little foggy as to when exactly it happened. Then it went to the Hartford Whalers in 1991. that one is a really weird situation as the Hartford whalers never actually won that specific cup. Lastly it was the Carolina Kraken who were interred with the Los Angeles Panthers. A very strong connection there. Well those are the teams that were looking for an underwater squeezer with the cup.

I don't think there is any place Bas would rather spend with the cup than St. James Gate Brewery. Also known as, The Guinness Factory. What else would he use his time with the cup to do except for taking it to the factory where his most favorite drink is made. Bas O'Bigbers would take the cup through the building going on the factory and seeing all the sights. Ya know that deed where they own the property for like 700 pounds a year for 1000 years? That stuff. But then Bas takes the cup to the best part possible, the tap room. Time to get fucked up. Bas fills up the cup with Guinness again and again and drinks from the holy chalice. Bas will spend everyone of his hours drinking the holy black liquid from the holy cup. It's simply delightful. This is what life was for. Moments like this. More please

There is only one way a french player can really celerate with the challenge cup on their special day, the dream is real and one which comes easy to Leclerc. It starts bright and early, getting it flown out to his childhood hometown in eastern france, and from there gets brought to the nearby vineyard that will of course be filling the cup with wine throughout the day as a party favor, as well as providing some top of the line french cuisine... I always end up focusing on food and drink in these celebrations, but what can I say other than wine, cheese, pasteries, and various other dairy and alcohols make me happy. If it wasn't for hockey, I don't know if I could walk... but yes, the day of celebrations would of course be spent surrounded by friends and family from childhood and formative years, as well as enjoying the best food and fun to be had!

If Regina won the four star cup an insane day of celebration and sheer indulgence would ensue. Once the parade of onlookers at the arena subsided enough for the players to leave, the team bus would be headed straight back to Regina, with alcoholic beverages flowing hard and fast in the hands of every player and member of the staff. The party would last late into the night and end up at many of the common hang outs in the city, including pubs and casinos as the team drifts from place to place celebrating with each other and the loyal fanbase. If we’re lucky, the cup would remain undamaged after the shenanigans, but there’s a pretty decent chance that at least a scratch or two would show up as the night wore on. The poor cup handler would watch on in horror as his hardware is swung from player to player, dripping with alcohol as the team takes turn sipping from the shiny bowl.
