RAPTORS AWARDS
Me doing Raptors awards, official or not, is becoming a tale as old as time. Okay maybe not. But anyways, welcome to the 6th straight awards show hosted by myself
S65 was a good one for Colorado. They finished with a record of 39-26-1, totalling 79 points which was good for 2nd place in the Wollker division. Sweeping Kelowna through Round 1, the Dinos eventually got swept themselves by the Battleborn. However, there is still a ton to be proud of, and we will be highlighting that today.

Here is our roundup:

Every season there is always that one Raptor that has a breakout season and pops off. In S65, that was JR Frankenstero. The alternate captain scored 41 goals and added 37 assists for 78 points in around 19 minutes a night, improving over 40 points from his previous career best. He was 6th in the SMJHL in scoring this season. In the playoffs, Frankenstero furthered his tremendous regular season play with 10 points in 8 games. JR had the second highest ice time among forwards, playing in all situations. A well earned Bo Kane Trophy, alongside the Seasonal and Playoffs MVP. Punk has also been very active in the LR and has been involved with management in scouting, and wins the McClure for a total of 4 awards today.

Tom wins the Zajac award for most dedicated. As a first gen user who joined in May, has already taken on a few jobs with the league. Most notably, he's been the lone SMJHL Intern for most of the season and has approved 80+ players. In addition, he also is in the Colorado recruitment team and is quite active in our locker room.

Like last season, Evan Winter wins the Nick Brain trophy best two-way forward. He carried over his strong two-way presence on the ice, however he took a huge step forward offensively this season. Winter was one of 3 forwards to score 70+ points for Colorado, recording a 34-40-74 line in the regular season, a 30 point increase from his sophomore season. His defensive play was still there too, as he blocked 77 shots and hit 120 opponents. A big factor on the Raptors special teams, Winter averaged over 3 minutes a night on the Power Play and over a 1 minute on the penalty kill.

Binko Koivu, the elite defensive defenseman wins the Ruud this season. My seasons-old prophecy comes true! Binko averaged the most ice time out of any skater, with 23 minutes per game. Long heralded as a stay-at-home defender, Binko was very dangerous offensively, tying the Raptors franchise record in dmen points at 50. He had 46 takeaways against 28 giveaways, and played in all situations.

Shiny Shuckle, being the only active goaltender, wins the Aleksandr Aleksandrov Trophy easily. He had a huge workload as he played in 56 of 66 possible games. He rated out a 65 in Game Rating, and had a 3.1 GAA with a .895 SV%. He won 33 games and stopped a whopping 1438 shots.

Our final award goes to Koty Kochan, who was the top rookie for Colorado this season. The center scored 39 points in his first season, and was very good defensively. He got some PK time to start off his career and blocked 149 shots, most ever by a Colorado rookie.

So that wraps up round 6 of the awards. Quite hard to believe I've done this for so long. Hopefully soon I convince Jumbo to consider the Jay awards to be legit too :eyes:

Congrats to our winners!
