If you take a cursory look at the index for the last few seasons, and taking a cursory look is what I excel at, you'll notice an easy pattern:

Newfoundland sure is in the finals a lot!

Newfoundland has been in the finals 6 times from S60 to S65, and has won the cup 4 of those times, losing only to the whalers in 4 and the falcons in 7.

It is difficult if not impossible to keep a junior roster together for so many seasons due, of course, to the 4 season limit for active players. So how did they do it?

Well lets start with S60 roster.

Notable forwards include Robert Black, Jesse Trudeau , Slavakov Vladimirashenko, Leon Athanasios, and others.

Defensemen include Shion Okamoto, Aleksandrs Balcers, Sabarro Torretta.

In net is Evgeni Petrov.

From this stand point, we will take a look at notable departures from the roster.

In S61 we see the departure of Jesse Trudeau, Aleksandrs Balcers, Robert E. O. Speedwagon, Shion Okamoto and a few others. Most of these names are pretty big players in the S60 roster.

Depite winning, newfoundland still has 2 1st round picks, part of what alludes to their success. In the first round they take Mikko Rashford (5th) and Tommy Tightpants (11th). They make 4 other picks besides, Jeff Larsson, Jay O'Neil , Pope Coswi, Alexander Mackenzie. With a roster devastated by departures and only barely renewed with rookie additions, the berserkers still manage a 3rd place finish but were swept by a vengeful whaler team.

Season S62 brings more departures of course: Robert Black, Slavakov Vladimirashenko, Sabarro Torretta, and Pasta the Turtle.

Again, they have 2 firsts. Rand al'Thor (5th), and Valters Denisov (13th). Also, Devin Williams-II, and Marsels Antilope. They slot right into the roster. Newfoundland now has a glute of capped sophomores and 4 new rookies.

Season 62 also brings a cup.

S63 doesnt see a huge change in the roster and notably the berserkers only have 1 pick in the first 3 rounds: Luca Hunziker. Big Boss is the biggest departure. Berserkers win the cup again.

With their big drafts finally hitting their peak, S64 brings another cup and a decent draft. Matsmith Söderberg-Tremblay, Hynek Heidinger, Tom Taylor, and Richard Frederick.

Emeril Lagasse and Jeff Larsson are the big departures this time.

Finally Season 65 brings with it a bit of a lull compared to their previous success. Rashford, Tightpants, O'Neil, Coswi, and Mackenzie age out, a huge portion of their core. But still other strong players remain. Rand al'Thor, Valters Denisova, Matsmith Soderberg-Tremblay, and Luca Hunziker take the helm.

With no first round pick, they select Kayden King in the 2nd, and Samuel Piccard in the 3rd to replace Lagasse and Larsson.

No cup this time.

Now, in s66, the Berserkers finish 12th in the league out of 14. Rand al'Thor, Valters Denisov, Also, Devin Williams-II, and Marsels Antilope have aged out or left otherwise. However, a strong draft promises to make the deficit a short one. Ramsus Bergling in the first, Brennan Kennedy III and Pope Coswi Jr in the 2nd, Louis Perreault in the 4th, Nate Dogg and Ryanko Witunkey in the 5th, and Joseph Milone Jr in the 6th. With such a reload, its no wonder the berserkers are struggling right now.

But with playoffs underway, we know they are not yet finished. Will this season bring another finals appearance? Will they be out of contention for long? Only time will tell
