Has Tradings Cards made the difference in bank balances
#1

The day before the Trading Cards came out, I got pinged in the bankers server by Rangerjase of the SHL bank balances before the Trading cards came out. about 6 months later, I think it is a good time to take a look at the bank balances of those same users, to see if the general balances of the average user went down. It is also cool to see who earned the money money in the past 6 months as well, and who lost.

So first of all lets take a macro sense of it all.

This section will be ONLY for users who had an account BEFORE Trading Cards were released.

So lets take a look at overall the bank balance of the entire league, for those who have earned or lost more than 0 (so basically anyone who have gained or lost money during the past 6 months)

Before Trading Cards: $23,635,654,609.00
After Trading Cards: $23,433,761,502.00

Also, the league wide balance is $36,976,125,259.00, so we have $13,542,363,757.00 worth of dead money by inactives.

So at a first glace, it dropped by 201 million, for the site as a whole, which is pretty good, but of course thats not all 201 mil dropped just because of cards, but it shows that the league as a whole has dropped more money than gained.

So, lets take a look at who gained and lost the most money.

At the macro sense, we have 3 buckets. Those who gained money, those who have lost money, and those who are inactive/gained 0 money.

So the numbers of those are pretty simple
Users who Lost Money over 6 months: 276
Users who gained money over 6 months: 385
Users who didnt gain or lose: 1249

For the top 10 users who lost money
JayWhy: -$73,400,000
Lime: -$55,449,999
AgentSmith630: -$54,400,000
hockeyiscool: -$52,550,000
traphag: -$48,200,000
sve7en: -$47,100,000
GeckoeyGecko: -$46,700,000
juke: -$45,352,000
ztevans: -$44,300,000
bdu754: -$43,716,000

The top 10 gainers
marco999: $97,500,000
lilstifler: $81,737,250
Ragnar: $78,288,189
TheSparkyDee: $67,435,700
CrazyMojito: $65,350,000
blix900: $57,603,000
sköldpaddor: $40,578,600
KenitohMenara: $40,500,000
spooked: $40,500,000
luke: $40,105,980

Taking a look at the histogram, it is also easy to show that even though you see these big gains and losses, the average is somewhere inbetween -500,000 to 2,000,000 though.

So whats the conclusion, I think we can clearly see that while there are clear gains with more SHL users, there are more high bank players that also lost a lot of money, so thats where the -200 mil is mostly going to. The users who are in the bubble of 0 - 10 mil bank, usually see ups and downs as they need to buy training each week, so the method of gaining money is cyclical

Fun stuff

While we also saw the what happened with the bank balances of users who were ONLY created before trading cards were released. Now we can see the bank balances of users who created in the past 6 months as well.

So we can have the original SHL Wide Bank is $37,163,018,366.00
The SHL Wide Bank with ever user is $37,634,376,285.00 with the difference of $471,357,919.00 gained in the past 6 months.

So lets look at the rookies who gained the most money in those past 6 months
Otis Boudreaux: 37950600
jumpSeat: 30520590
TheGreatToeJam: 23176220
dangler7000: 20000000
Edgerocks1: 17154820
tomtommen: 15712800
TheHammer43: 15150896
Froste39: 13330000
erikvm: 13201000
ConverseFall1: 12500000

I have no idea how much I had back then, but it feels like I can buy as many cards as I want and my bank balance always stays the same somehow.

RIP Otis.

For me, taking a look at my bank

Almost Weekly Podcasts are 2.8 mil per week
Contracts are 4 mil, 3 mil, 1 mil, 2 mil
GM pay is 8 mil x3
PT pay is 6 mil for 2 seasons
Card management pay is 4 mil for 2 seasons
Bank pay is 2 mil for 3 seasons for Twitter bot
Dev work is like 1-4 mil for 3 seasons
Head budget is 6 mil for 3 seasons
I write media here and there sometimes
Recruitment pay was 3 mil one time

So the majority of my money comes from job pay + Podcasting with media and contracts here and there

For someone like Marco he is doing a lot of auditing pay
For someone like Ragnar it’s sigs

For Sparky, Blix, and Kenny it’s simmers
For others it’s updater jobs

I've looked at my bank to see how I made my money as I was surprised I was the highest net earner in the past six months. From March 1st to today, I've made 70,55M$ from updating, 86,9 M$ from auditing, 22 M$ from contracts, 200 k$ from Twitter, 3M$ from Fantasy, 4 M$ fror IIHF gold medals and 3 M$ as part of the PT Team because I designed a spreadsheet for them.

Perhaps seeing this will persuade people to apply for an updating job (Job Posting). It's relatively easy and a good way to make some good SHL money.

Wow okay! I didn't know we can make THAT kind of money from updating. Sorry @CapnCooper I might change job  Hmm

For real if it's that easy, why it's possible to make that much? Why not balance it with the other job that pay like 3M?

processing an update isn't difficult, but updating is time consuming and time gated. it has to be done every week on a schedule and has to be done in basically 1-2 days. when it was on a flat payscale the job didn't attract enough people to sustain the department. iirc it's actually less generous than it used to be too.

Auditing is a literal treasure trove of cash. When I was auditing a few seasons ago, I did the math and its like $2 billion or something available in unaudited updates - if all updates are to be audited.
