Maine is a young team full of talent for the next wave of success, but they are also in a very interesting position where they are poised to make a run this season as well. They have a top end of high tpe, capped players, and they have an absolute slew of high earning rookies, who are making leaps and bounds in improvements with every week. Starting with the draft, here is what the Timber did:

Round 1, 8 OA: Cale Salad - Salad is the 3rd line centre that Maine has needed for a full season. He's going to take over some big minutes next season as the top center, so this pick was a must have. A well known, high earning, alumni user, this is a pick that had to happen in the first.
Round 2, 28 OA: Nathaniel Barca - Barca is apparently less well known than he should be as a SMJHL GM. This was an automatic pick with their highest second round, so Maine took advantage of that and traded the pick to the back of the round in order to add on some additional picks. This is a great addition as a guaranteed high earning user in the late 20's is always fantastic value.
Round 3, 35 OA: Barefoot Sugars - Sugars is another well known entity to Maine. A bit slower earning than the others, but he's a sure thing. Maine knows that they will be able to count on Sugars to play significant minutes and big situations over the next 4 seasons.
Round 4, 49 OA: Heath Nicol - Are we able to claim steal of the draft? At 49 Overall, Maine managed to find a diamond in the rough. Active, good attitude, well earning, and experienced? Why was Nicol still on the board at this time. Any teams who had any inside info on Nicol should be shamed for passing on this stud. Nicol is going to be forming a huge part of the Timber future defence.

Trade: After the draft, Maine was able to hammer out a big trade where they acquired one of their former GMs in Toasty O'Bigers. Giving up a future first round was a no brainer as this allowed them to acquire another high earning player, but most importantly a huge Locker Room presence what they had to briefly kick out of the war room. There is a fear that his SHL team might be calling him up a bit early, but that can is kicked down the road for the moment, and hopefully isn't imminent.

Waiver: Brent Turnerson - Maine traded before the draft for a goalie entering their final season. They shored up their net for this season, but they needed to add on some help in the crease because last seasons draft pick Moon seems to have stalled in his progression. Maine was able to use their Waiver slot eventually, landing goalie of the future Brent Turnerson. Already playing in 4 games, Turnerson has played well above his rookie stature and is looking like a fantastic addition to tie down the pipes for the future in a solid tandem with Moon.

Free Agent: Another defence of the future picked up for free? Sign me up! J-ROC may have been missed in initial scouting because teams don't like sending their scouts to Sunnyvale Trailer Park. He spins mad rhymes, and tosses sick dimes on the ice. Maine is absolutely rock solid in Defense moving forward because this gives them another active, earning s68 to hold the line!
