As a current Season 68 SHL eligible Draftee, its important to take a look at what teams are going to be looking at for the upcoming draft that is only a few short weeks (in real life) away at this point. Right now the team with the most picks in the Draft is the Baltimore Platoon. They have a total of 8 picks in the first two rounds of the draft. Two of which  are first round picks. Baltimore is definitely looking to add some offense to their current roster. They are a little bit weaker on the forward side and its unfortunately showing in the standings. A team that’s in a full rebuild like Baltimore are going to really put all of those picks to good use. With 8 of the first 40 picks in the draft, Baltimore is going to get an entire group of “sure things” to bring right into their locker room. There are plenty of Forwards and defenseman out there that are still super active in the community. I wouldn’t be surprised if Baltimore is a force to be reckoned with in the next 6 or so seasons with this giant core of players that they are going to be drafting this time around. The second team that has a significant number of picks is the Buffalo Stampede. They have 5 picks in the first two rounds, but three of them are first rounders. Based on the current standings, Edmonton’s pick is going to be pretty high and has a lottery chance to be the first overall pick. The Calgary 1st is going to be low to mid as Calgary is sitting in fourth in the standings but is only 2 points away from dropping to 10th in the league. This season is pretty close standings wise in the midfield and can really swing how some of the draft picks end up. Buffalo is definitely going to be looking for some offensive players, maybe geared a little bit more towards center than the wings. These are a fair amount of aging players that buffalo is still clinging onto waiting for some new draftees to move up and take over their positions. There are definitely a fair amount of players again at all positions that buffalo should be able to help build their new core of players for the foreseeable future. The last team I found that is “hoarding” picks is the Minnesota Monarchs. They hold their own first rounder and a total of three second round picks. This is another one of those teams that is looking to plug up some empty holes with some new actively earning bodies. With only two players currently swimming above 1000 TPE applied, Minnesota can really put these early picks to good use with anyone that available when its their turn on the clock. All three of these teams are looking to get away with some great picks at the S68 upcoming draft. If the SMJHL draft told us anything, its that this class is much deeper than it seems. Of the 72 players drafted, 43 of those are currently sitting above 200 TPE. As I’m writing this, a majority of updates aren’t even pushed through to the tracker so totals are only growing. Currently, all 43 of those players above 200 TPE showing as active. It’s going to be a fun and exciting draft to watch this time around.
