S67 DFA Bounties #4 - The Alternate Timeline
#1

The offseason is closing in on us, and we are almost at the SMJHL Draft.
Before the real busy season starts, and you're going to be answering scouting messages from every team, it is time to sit back and relax a little. Dreaming about how your life would've looked without hockey.
Written Task: What would your player be doing now, if he or she hadn't pursued a career in hockey? (250 word min.)
Graphic Task: Show us a picture of your player, doing what they'd do if they weren't a hockey player.
Reward: $500,000 for doing one of the above
Only current SMJHL Draftable Free Agents (S68 SMJHL Draftees, SHL class of S69) are eligible for this bounty.
There is no need to claim this anywhere. After grading the money should pop up in your account 'automatically'.
Deadline: Sunday, November 6th @ 11:59PM PST

If Matthew's father did not pass away when he was 15 years old and if he was still alive, LeClaire probably would have gotten into the business field getting a business admin degree. It was his father's death that pushed him mentally and physically into playing hockey much more and seriously. His father and him bonded years and years over hockey and after his death he wanted to feel his dad's presence again.

LeClaire most likely would have not developed as fast as he did and would most likely be working his way up the corporate ladder for his day job. Begging his bosses for his much earned vacation pay. After years of an "Office Space" environment at 25, he would eventually quit and rethink his life over.

LeClaire would think about going back to school for police foundations. Until one day, when he was out with 4 of his friends they just got done watching a movie at the theaters and they saw something coming down from the sky and crashing behind the AMC movie theater. They ran over to see what it was and they see 5 coins. Each friend would grab one and without realizing it, The Power in the coins would transfer into them. They will become the Power Rangers. Matthew LeClaire would be known as the red ranger. He would become a super hero. LeClaire would be saving the world every day.

But this alternate reality did not happen, You can say his professional hockey career held him back.

Luca Pane only knows hockey, like, that is all he has studied his whole life. Though he was close to some of the Italian football players at the academy, he does not think pursuing another sport would be the correct thing to do. His papa owned a successful pizza place and his mama was an artist who liked to paint pictures. Luca would probably fall into one of their paths had it not been for hockey.
If he went the pizza route, his father would have opened up another location for him to run and keep the family name going. Since he has been little, Luca has always liked pizza. His dad taught him early on how to make the family’s secret sauce and to measure the cheese by hand. The recipe has been in the family for generations and it only makes sense to keep handing it down until the restaurant closes. This is the most likely outcome for Luca if he did not get into hockey when he was younger.
Now if he wanted to express his creative mind in a non contact sport kind of way, he would have followed his mother into art. His mother painted the ceiling at the family restaurant and is known as a local celebrity for the artworks she has produced. While Luca liked painting, he was never really good at it. His mother had the real talent with a brush in the family, afterall. Luca could have buckled down and gotten to his mother’s level, but fate had other plans. Other plans being hockey. Luca used his creative mind to figure out how to score goals and not draw lines.

Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz is a goalie to his soul and knows nothing other than his sacred duty of stopping the flying rubber disc. If all hockey equipment in the world disappeared tomorrow, he would quickly be arrested for interrupting games of Ultimate Frisbee by catching and attempting to eat the Frisbee. Upon his release from jail, he would enter rehabilitation and undergo intensive therapy to prevent him from menacing rubber discs in his day to day life. Shortly thereafter, he would be informed by casual, tragic conversation of the existence of Lacrosse, another sport in which he can stop people from having fun.
The life of a Lacrosse goalie would suit him well, despite frequent suspensions for punching attacking players. It doesn't have quite the prestige of making Russian scoring forwards angry by not letting them do the only thing they play the game to do, but it still ruins somebody's fun, and that's good enough for Grzegorz. His superstitions would change only minimally. He would still have the Polish flag somewhere on his mask, would still compose a handwritten letter to the Archangel Raphael the night before every game, and would still chuck that letter into a fire after the game is over regardless of result. You can take the goalie out of the goal, but you can't take the goal out of the goalie, or something. The only thing that might change is his antagonistic approach to his goalposts, whom he considers an untrustworthy enemy and never thanks after a ping, for if he does so, they will betray him the very next shot.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez would be a full-time model instead of it being his side-deal ATM.

If Edward Flinders wasn't pursuing a career in hockey, he would probably still be in Iceland. His parents are bankers living in Reykjavik, who moved from Britain to Iceland as young adults for the unique career opportunity to work in and eventually run a local institution. Edward is still expected, between the requirements of his hockey career, to attend university part time and pick up an appropriately impressive qualification to ensure he isn't screwed if hockey doesn't work out for him- those parents will ensure he gets a decent job afterwards, if necessary. If Edward wasn't working in a bank, he would have other options; there are family friends who own a fishing business, and he's not afraid of hard work or deep water. There were also opportunities to study abroad back in the United Kingdom, and a university like Oxford would have been open to him. For now, Edward is hoping that his part time studies in North America could be done through an institution like Yale.

Should he return to work at his parents bank, the options are fairly wide; he would not be expected to immediately join management, but instead to demonstrate competency in other areas of the bank. It is likely that he would have to start as a customer service officer, and then proceed from there into a field like risk management, settlements or quality control. Proving that he knows what he's actually doing will then allow him to progress into the more important parts of that bank.

Patricija in high school also happened to be a great track and long distance athlete during the hockey offseason. Numerous times, coaches attempted to persuade her to switch sports noticing her abundance of talent, having the great leg strength required for the sport. If Patricija hadn't pursued a career in hockey, it's likely she may have taken up the advice of one of those coaches and pledged to run in College instead. Without a regular hockey season to dominate her time, it's likely that she would have much more time to pursue hobbies on the side, such as gardening. She isn't the type to trust others to take care of her plants while she is away, preferring to do it herself so she can take responsibility for accordingly for any damage. It's likely with the extra time to spare that Patricija's house may end up full of plants, as it's likely she'd have a hard time just picking a few to take care of. Hopefully her college roommate wouldn't mind too much. For sure, she would have a hard time picking between sprints and endurance cross country racing in college, due to them both being her favorites. But ultimately, it's clear she would pick sprinting as having the spotlight on you for those couple minutes at a time is really what she enjoys and wants out of competition. Nothing better than having the audience only watching you when you're in the lead, even if the moment is short. That would be a life without hockey, but still a great life - a college sprinter with an abundance of home gardening projects.

There are many possibilities as to what Jølñgüštrâädæviñçh DuBølk would be doing, (but mainly because I don't know what his character really is yet). One of these possibilities would be that he's a game developer. In this reality, he was the one that created the hit game "Overtale," about a strapping young person exploring caves and meeting quirky and deeply disturbed characters (no he did not try and sue Toby Fox in this timeline). In another timeline, he became a pizza chef and in turn became the CEO of the largest pizza chain in Sweden, which then became bankrupt after a failed attempt to get into the already oversaturated North American market (having the flagship restaurant be in Times Square didn't help matters). In a third timeline, he shoveled snow on his parent's driveway. He's not living in his parent's basement (that's timeline #37), but is just doing a good deed for his parents before heading to his 9-5 office job in Stockholm for the day, coming home to his wife and kids, and eating a good home cooked meal. In a far out timeline he became an intergalactic warlord after finding a drill from digging tunnels underground, harnessing spiral energy, watching his soul brother die in a robot, and failing to realize the power of friendship and comradery that comes with aging and dealing with grief. Beyond that, insert your favorite possibility here and enjoy the results, because i have no idea what else to put here. Maybe he's really into towels in another timeline? Who can say?
