S68 SMJHL PT #3 - Rivalry Week
#16

For the Yukon Malamutes this is a tough one. The team itself has been rebranded pretty recently so any previous geographical rivals from Anaheim don't really exist anymore and the next closest team to Yukon is probably Vancouver. Even then, the Malamutes are a kind looking creature and from what I can gather they have no personal rivals. In the sense of competitive rivals, I'd say the Detroit Falcons, the Maine Timber, and the Colorado Raptors are the biggest as of now. Those three teams are currently ahead of us in the Atlantic Conference. Come to think of it, why is Yukon in the Atlantic Conference?? Anyways, we're currently in the middle of the pack, the Quebec City Citadelles not far behind so those are our closest competition within our conference. In the Tamper Town division, again Maine Timber is leading the pack. Looking at the Pacific Conference, almost their entire roster is ahead or tied in points, so definitely something to consider when moving forward to the playoffs.

I don't see how anyone could be called Newfoundlands rival, seeing how dominant the team has been overall for so long. The other teams can gloat all they want now when we're rebuilding and find ourselves second to last in the standings. It's fine, we're not worried. It's temporary. If I had to pick a team right now it would obviously be Detroit Falcons as they are the top dog this season. Always aim big is what my mom told me and I will do just that. Otherwise i'm not sure, i could probably go through every team to see where all the people i dislike play, but that would be more of a personal rivalry and not a team rivalry. Really i don't see a match for us when we're not in a rebuild and all losses are flukes, so i kind of find this topic moot. Newfoundland number one now and forever. Though i guess every win against the GMs that passed me multiple times despite saying they'd pick me is always nice.

The Anaheim Outlaws don't exist anymore and they're still Colorado's biggest rival. This is clearly because no earthly team poses enough of a threat to the Raptors to constitute a rivalry. It's difficult to have a rivalry with a dead team, but we keep that torch burning to guard against their return as a vile, world-consuming undead organization that would devour the souls of every junior team in their path, and then probably steal their lunch money as well because they're obnoxious like that. And heaven help us if they return and figure out how computers work. The last thing we need is a bunch of outlaws committing identity theft and switching jerseys mid game to confuse the scorekeepers. The players on the other team would be able to tell the difference by the smell, but the too many men penalties, the incorrectly awarded own goals, and the headaches of sorting out wins and losses that would ensure are not something anyone needs.

Luv me Raptors
Luv Colorado
Luv Denver
Luv me mountains
Luv me blue and gold
Ate Los Angeles (Anaheim isn't real)
Ate Californians (not racis just don loik em)
Ate criminals
Ate red and black
Simple as.

Being the Kelowna Knights' top draft pick means quickly learning the club culture and reputation within the SMJHL, including who our rivals are. It comes as no surprise that at the top of the pile is the Vancouver Whalers, given their geographical proximity as well as the extensive history between the two teams. The two British Columbian teams are only separated by 271 kilometers, the shortest of any two SMJHL teams. It was Vancouver's current GM dmuda11 who made the short flight over to the coastal city from Kelowna's war room just seven months ago, which adds another level of complexity to the rivalry. Both teams have existed since the early days of the website and possess similar lifetime records in the league as well as the number of Four-Star Cups. They also have an extensive history of eliminating one another in the SMJHL playoffs, with each team seemingly knocking the other out equally. All of this adds up to a pretty intense rivalry that often ends up spilling into the forums.

the biggest rivalry that the detroit falcons of the simulation major junior hockey league have are their direct natural predators. scarecrows are very scary and pose a threat to a falcon's mental wellbeing when hunting for prey, so the st louis scarecrows may be a potential rival. fortunately the hockey team has actually feasted on the rest of the league so far so teams like the scarecrows are more of a straw man than an actual scarecrow. another rival may be the maine timber because they have axes and do the chopping of the trees which are what falcons need to create their nests and perch, chill and look threatening. other than the fact that they fluked their way to a four star cup, they are not a threat because a big bird like a falcon is no match for a weak human carrying an axe, let alone their boring team name. so in reality, the only threat to the detroit falcons is the city of detroit and its fans because detroit is known as the motor city, so as a result, the cars that pass through the detroit falcons' home are the biggest threat to their survivability and ability to play well on the ice. imagine being hit by a car, that would suck.

As long as I can remember the Knights and the Whalers have had a historic rivalry spanning much of the smjhl history. I’m usually on the outside looking into this rivalry but now as a member of the knights, the rivalry feels very real. The hate runs deep in the locker room, it’s a game all of us look forward to. The rookies, myself included, have bought into the rivalry as well keeping the historic tradition.

Though the issue is that we are not the best looking team, but as young and inexperienced as we are, but I can predict in a few seasons that this rivalry will be at its peak. The Battle of British Columbia will be a rivalry to ranks highest among all rivalries in sports. Blood will be shed, bones will be broken, and the whalers will fall.

But just don’t look at this years stats

As someone who's been out of the loop on rivalries for quite a while, I'm not sure who I would consider Vancouver's rival. The team that gets brought up the most is Kelowna so I suppose we are rivals with them but I wouldn't call it heated. We have played each other twice so far this season and have split the series. But they seem to be having a rougher season than we are so far, but I know they're also rebuilding. There hasn't really been any chirping as you don't see that too often on here these days. I'd say are more direct rivals are the teams we share a division with, Carolina and St. Louis. The division has the closest race to first, without a doubt. St. Louis should probably still manage to win it but just looking at the standings at this point, it really is anyone's to take. I don't really have any personal rivalries. I'm not mad for being passed in any draft and I'm not looking to prove something. My closest personal rivals are my draft class I suppose. I will be comparing myself to them for seasons to come, especially once we get to the SHL.

The biggest rival the Colorado Raptors have, in the eyes of Edward Flinders, is the Nevada Battleborn. This is the only team that has any realistic shot of topping his own cocaine usage, as Las Vegas is a very easy place to get access to the white stuff. In particular, Edward has suspicions that some Battleborn members have actually stolen his cocaine on prior away trips, but he can't prove it was them and not his coach trying to get him back on the straight and narrow. But he'll catch them, one day, and then they're fucked. On top of that, there's a slight chance that Edward Flinders was hitting on someone in a Vegas casino that was already dating their backup goalie, but this'll be sorted out on the ice if the two are ever out there at the same time. Realistically, aside from hockey itself, these are the main issued Edward has to deal with on a day by day basis, and Nevada might be making them harder for him.

I wouldn't say Kelowna had a rival, but If they did It'd be those stinky whalers as my teammate said, every time they come to our arena and play us. The staff complains of a stench that just lingers within that locker room. Hopefully they get that fixed personal hygiene wise, but I personally have beef with every team that didn't even scout me, but you know what I'm not worried about It as It was a blessing In disguise as Kelowna has an amazing locker room to be apart of. Let me just say my rivals though Regina, Vancouver (Stinky) , Carolina, Quebec City, Great Falls, and Newfoundland. Those teams will regret not even scouting me which is worse than passing on me and didn't even look my way. To the teams who did pass up on me, they just had their reasons and were all transparent with me so I respect those teams especially Maine Timber. All love here!

The great falls grizzlies are a pretty new team that i do not know a lot of lore about, so i am not really too sure on who the team’s biggest rival is. For my player specifically though, Doomslatter’s biggest rivalry has to be with PRIMETIME99FITTED CUDDLES and the Carolina Kraken @Fitted2106. Doomslatter’s agent Wunderkid Trella has deep ties to Carolina and this has seeped into how Doomslatter sees the team. Doomslatter and PRIMETIME have known each other off the ice for years, so coming up against him and the rest of the Kraken is always a fun challenge against some familiar faces. The kraken are never a team to be slept on, thanks to their manager 7 being one of the best, so its always a tough matchup for a netminder like Doomslatter. Overall, each team is fun to play against, but the games that Doomslatter gets up for the most are definitely games vs the Carolina Kraken.

Ever since the Anaheim Outlaws relocated to become the Yukon Malamutes, the Nevada Battleborn have been rival-less for a few seasons at this point. In the meantime, they've been trying to create a rivalry between themselves and pretty much every other team in the league (minus the Malamutes of course: they're playing hard to get). To facilitate this, the coaching staff send out Jølñgüštrâädæviñçh DuBølk to go to the opposing goalie in order to spark something. At first, Jølñgüštrâädæviñçh DuBølk was somewhat neutral to the idea, but after the 3rd time he started to do it half-heartedly, citing "it's not the same after the fifth time." Even opposing teams are taking pity as Detroit goalie Jeff Newman told Jølñgüštrâädæviñçh DuBølk: "it's not gonna be worth it at all, are y'all alright?", starting a charity drive in order to create a new rival for the Nevada Battleborn out of pity, however the goal was not reached.

I dont know about the great falls grizzlies, but my biggest rival at this point is Vancouver. I think it partially stems from the fact that the grizzlies have had a tough year against them. But beyond that, Vancouver has drafted "friends" of tiberius kane in the past, including Nichael Fitted and Backup Goaltender and while their experience was good, it does sort of stand out in Kane's mind as an important team to beat, and yet he cant. Similarly, the Yukon Doggies had Kane as a DFA and while they were unable to draft Kane due to his position in the draft, he will still hold it against them for not trading for the 1 over all pick to make it happen. In fact, every team except for the Great Falls grizzlies failed to draft Tiberius Kane and thus have drawn his magnificent ire and will thus be scored upon again and again.

It is a tough choice for Hugh Manius to determine which SMJLH teams would be the biggest rivalry for him and St. Louis. As it really boils down to two teams for him those being the Great Falls Grizzlies and the Kelowna Knights. This animosity is born from both teams actions prior to the Season 68 SMJHL draft. Both teams reach out to mgr. Manius shortly after he declared eligibility but before the draft. the Great Falls Grizzlies and the Kelowna Knights both approached Manius with some early feeler as to weather he would be interested in playing for their respective organizations. Hugh being an easy going individual would have gladly played both. One team simply ask to they could scout him for their organization which Manius state sure and never heard anything again. Manius can only assume the response of “Sure” was not up to snuff with their organization hiring practices. The other team at least had few questions which to make their assessment of him. Which was a little better in his opinion. Although the fact that both teams passed up on him still bothered him but not much as the Crows came through with their love.
