…. With the 26th pick in the S69 SHL draft. The Texas Renegades select... Patrice Bergeron, Center from the Maine Timber.

Hello and welcome to today's edition of packing a punch with the draft, I'm your host Andy Brickley and I'm here with newly drafted center Patrice Bergeron.

Andy: Well Patrice, you were drafted this time through. Can you give details on how it felt and how scouting was?

Patrice: Sure thing Andy. What do you want to discuss first?

Andy: Let's talk about your experiences with scouting

Patrice: Alright, so Texas was the first team to contact me outside of the gms in Maine's locker room.

Andy: Nice, I've heard that you wanted to play with Texas from day 1 of your rookie season in Maine.

Patrice: So, yeah I wanted to play with Texas because I like the Renegade aspect, and look who I was drafted by.

Andy: Exactly, on to the fun details and the bulk of our interview.

Patrice: Alright, so CapnCooper messaged me on Discord and wanted to get the ball rolling. I told him I was really wanting to play in Texas and that I could be a franchise player for my whole SHL Career. I basically satisfied every question I was asked because the interview took forever and I mean forever, but that is neither here nor there. One of the things I looked at when being scouted by GMs was, is the team a potential playoff contender? I saw Texas got knocked out in the first round and that pleased me because I knew that with this draft class and when me and my teammates from this draft come up, this team is instantly going to become a contender for seasons to come. I told CapnCooper that I'd be an active piece in the locker room and on the ice for him, and he instantly responded "Yes you will". This made me happy because I am always trying to grow as a player and teammate, so having a good locker room experience is big for me. This leads me to my next point. Locker room morale is what I asked CapnCooper next. I asked, "What is the locker room morale, and is it an active locker room?" He emphatically responded, "Our locker room morale is among the highest in the SHL which leads to great results on the ice, and we have an insanely active locker room and you can add to it with your activity level." My last question for CapnCooper was "What do you look for in a player?". He casually responded, "You, all joking aside we look at how active the player is on the forums and discord which you satisfy the hell out of, and we also look at whether are they a team player. This fits you perfectly because we saw how you played in Maine and how the rookie line was instantly better with you."

Andy: Well folks that's all for this interview with Patrice Bergeron.

Crowd: "Let's Go Bergeron, Let's Go BergeronLet's Go BergeronLet's Go BergeronLet's Go BergeronLet's Go Bergeron."

Story aside: Thank you Texas for grabbing me at pick 26.
