S68 Montreal Patriotes Awards
#1

Better late than never!

It was a disappointing finish to an exciting season in Montreal, and it's time to honour the contributions from several of our key roster members. But first, a small announcement.

As a young franchise, still searching for its heroes and legends-in-the-making, our awards were up to this point largely named after NHL players, with some exceptions. By popular vote, we are happy to announce that the Guy Lafleur Memorial Award, given to the Top Forward, will be renamed to the Kriss Darzins Award. @lilstifler has been a long time Patriote, and a key voice in the locker room, burning the midnight oil in  the far-off Euro time zones.  In his 5 seasons with the Patriotes, Kriss Darzins tallied 333 points in 330 regular season games, as well as 28 points in 32 playoff appearances. Darzins led the team in goal scoring for his final 3 consecutive seasons leading up to retirement. Four of his top 6 personal best seasons came as a Patriote, despite arriving to the team relatively late in his career. For all these reasons, and the fond memories of Darzins defying regression, and continuing to pot goals and put up points, we are happy to award the first Kriss Darzins Award for top forward to:

Sconnie McHits! @G2019

Sconnie notched 21 goals and added 54 helpers for 75 points over the regular season, and 5 points in 6 games during the post season. Without a doubt, Sconnie continues to be an impact player here in Montreal, and we look forward to seeing what the future brings.

Next is the Stan Din'desque Leadership Award, which goes to:

@NJBadApple

NJ continues to be a constant in the locker room, offering tips and comfort after losses, and quick to celebrate victories. He has also become a fixture in the war room, lending invaluable insight and experience to the management group. We love NJ, and he is an exemplary leader on and off the ice.

Next, we have the Golden Poutine Award, for Team MVP, which goes to:

Sconnie McHits!

In addition to his point total, Sconnie led the team in Shots (208), while also laying an eye-watering 124 Hits! Sconnie is the engine that drives Montreals dangerous top 6 forward corps, and his status as MVP is cemented by his locker room presence, where he has become a leader and an important voice in building team culture.

Next, the Ray Bourque Award for Top Defender goes to:

Jonathon Hagan! @CampinKiller

Hagan remains a steadfast presence on the Montreal blueline, leading all defencemen in Points, Goals, and Assists! In Season 68, Hagan finished 3rd on the team in Powerplay Goals, behind only Sconnie and Gretzky (elite company). In addition to his defensive play, Hagan found time to block 153 shots, and led the team in Takeaways with 64. Hagan continues to be a force on the blue line, and a few more seasons at this pace will likely see this award named after him in the future!

Last, but not least, we award the Rising Star Award, given to the Top Prospect or Rookie, to:

Rikkert Biemans! @Katth

Rikkert had a phenomenal debut season in Montreal, tallying 29 Goals and 25 Assists (54 Points) in 66 Games! Impressively, only 2 of his goals came from special teams, making him a deadly 5 on 5 weapon in the Montreal arsenal. Adding 40 blocked shots and 108 hits rounds out his well-deserved win of this award!

Thank you to all our hard-working teammates! We'll see you on the ice soon for Season 69 (nice).

Your Co-GM,
Benpachi
