S69 Newfoundland Berzerkers Awards
#1

Better late than never, after another great season by the Zerks with many improvements all around the team, here are the S69 Zerk Awards!

Ryuuji Minamino Forward of the Year - This was quite the battle all season, but in the end goes to Matiss Ozolinsh @LampLighter . A great season, led the team in assists, points and second in goals. A great leader in the locker room, and made everyone better.

Rand al'Thor Defenceman of the Year - You are looking at back to back winner Philip Fry @Wheels taking this one home (or keeping it at his home I guess). Lead all D in points, goals, and assists. He still has his final year in the J, could a 3 peat be possible? Also lead team USA to gold in WJC, he is a force to be sure. Maybe they will have to rename the award and give him his own series of 13 books after next season.

Mikko Rashford Rookie of the Year - Last on the team in points, first on the team in Rookie of the Year votes. Mit Wobet @EmoLeBron steadily improved all season and shows great promise, helping him go 9th overall in the SHL draft as well. Clearly the better of the Wobet family. We will watch his career with great interest.

Cale Amundsen Goalie of the Year - Tummy Hurts @teztify takes this home again, but not nearly as easily as before. Playoff Tummy secured it though, looking like bubble Demko. Some pressure from up and coming tender Rhett Carpet @Carpy48 should make for a great tandem in net next season.

Patric Twist IA of the Year - Based on our fearless leader @Patty, this goes to last seasons forward of the year Brennan Kennedy III @bk1689 . Leading the team in goals and second in points, still put up great numbers. Amazing what a season can do. Maybe this ping will bring him back to his former glory and updating self?

Andrei Cleanest Player of the Year - I am not sure how a defenceman doesn't take more penalties, but Louis Perreault @Wind Savon has sure figure it out. Speed? positioning? hockey smarts? laziness? Who knows, but we all could learn something from this nice fellow.

Harry Carpet Underrated Player of the Year - Not a lot of points, not a lot of notice. Lester Oiduser @mystick came in under pretty much everyones radar. Despite leading the league in Fenwick and third in Corsi, no one really noticed him, because no one cares about advanced stats. Which is kind of what you want in a tough to play against defenceman. Unless you are him, come on all star voting team!

Volsungr Team MVP - Based on North mythology, this is the player who had the best season. This goes to our top forward Matiss Ozolinsh @LampLighter, who lead the way on the ice, as well as keeping the locker room going making sure as many as possible tuned in to watch. We wish him the best in the show next season!

Playoff MVP - The return of this award, seeing as we made it past the first round! Guiness O'Bigbers @Sopath really stepped up his game come playoff time, scoring many timely goals and helped push us to the next level. Imagine how good he would be if he updated more?

Luffy Most Dedicated User of the Year - Goes to probably the greatest person to exist. Lester Oiduser @mystick could be the greatest human being of all time.  Leading his strong class in TPE, what keeps him this dedicated? The drive to win? Glory? Is he bored? Avoiding his reponsibilities at home? Maybe all of those reasons? Whatever it is, lets hope he keeps it up. Super humble guy as well. No bias here btw.

Yosh Team Spirit Award - This was a hotly contested award this year, as our team has amazing spirit and the best locker room. Edging out the others was our captain Rasmus Bergling @JNH . Always around and a great guy in the room. Chatting away and helping where he can, he is graduating this year but I am sure will keep popping in to say hi.

Can't wait for the next season, seeing who steps it up and pushes this team to playoff spot and then on to the cup!

Go Zerks!

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

@mystick is extremely underrated. It's an injustice that he wasn't on the All Star team. The committee should feel shame, go the box for two minutes and go fr...... you know what no you don't go free. 10 plus game misconduct with suspension. Do your jobs and get it right!
