Season 70 rookie class report
Anchorage Armada – 2x Players | Total 445 TPE Players Drafted: 5 Barg Hazbite – 210 – Anchorage Armada – Right Wing – 2nd Round Finn Weiß – 235 – Anchorage Armada – Right Wing – 1st Round Finn is tied for the 2nd place in TPE earned, and Barg was a great second round pick. However, Anchorage has whiffed with their other players selected setting up a strong top heavy draft class for the future. Carolina Kraken – 4x Players | Total 836 TPE Players Drafted: 5 Aaron Ranger – 188 – Carolina Karken – Left Wing - 4th Round Filip Svatos – 212 – Carolina Kraken – Left Wing – 2nd Round Matt Stro – 213 – Carolina Kraken – Right Wing – 2nd Round Alexej Kastrba – 223 – Carolina Kraken – Right Wing – 2nd Round The Kraken found an amazing amount of talent in the second round pretty much selecting three players that have progressed as quickly as 1st round talent. They have really setup their future in the forward position in this group and only one player has gone inactive. Colorado Raptors 4x Players | Total 671 TPE Players Drafted: 5 Scary Jerry – 202 – Colorado Raptors – Goalie – 3rd Round Drew Sureshot – 212 – Colorado Raptors – Right Defense – 3rd Round Foggy Nelson – 224 – Colorado Raptors – Left Defense – 2nd Round Oliver Castillon – 235 – Colorado Raptors – Center – 1st Round Oliver Castillon is the Co-2nd place in earned TPE proving the raptors made a smart choice with their 2nd overall pick. Foggy and Drew have been earning like first rounders being found in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Scary Jerry is one of three active goalies and had done well so far. Detroit Falcons 1x Player | Total 157 TPE Players Drafted: 5 Players (Theodore Svatos traded) Martin Csiszar – 157 – Detroit Falcons – Center – 4th Round Detroit did well selecting Theodore, but made the decision to move on from him. Martin Csiszar has not progressed as quickly as some others, but being active from the 4th round is an accomplishment not many others have done. Unfortunately the Draft was not kind for the Falcons with 5 picks and only 2 turning out active. Great Falls Grizzlies 6x Players | Total 1134 TPE Players Drafted: 8 Dave Richardson – 160 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Center – 3rd Round Michael Cordero – 163 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Right Wing – 5th Round Bryson Basham – 165 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Right Defense – 4th Round Andren Akerson – 190 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Right Wing – 2nd Round Andre Latreille – 221 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Left Wing – 1st Round Levin Schattenaxt – 235 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Right Wing – 1st Round The Grizzlies Drafted well early and through out the draft finding hidden gems in the later rounds when most teams struck out. Levin is another Co-2nd place in TPE earned, they have their forward covered moving forward and could be a team to beat in a few years with this kind of draft. Kelowna Knights 2x Players | Total 411 TPE Players Drafted: 3 Crystal McLeod – 184 – Kelowna Knights – Left Wing – 1st Round Logan Webb – 227 – Kelowna Knights – Left Wing – 2nd Round Only selecting 3 players meant the Knights needed to nail their draft. They did well, picking Crystal McLeod in the first round they put trust in an unknown player, so far, she is progressing well. Logan Webb was a great pickup in the 2nd round active and progressing like a 1st rounder. Maine Timber 4x Players | Total 831 TPE Players Drafted: 5 Sillysauce Mctartersauce – 190 – Maine Timber – Left Defense – (FA, trade pickup) Merle Van Nistelrooy – 194 – Maine Timber – Right Defense – 3rd Round Shootin Blanks – 222 – Maine Timber – Center – 2nd Round Mick Mayhem – 225 - Maine Timber – Right Defense – 1st Round Timber made some good picks in the early draft, Mayhem and Blanks are both future superstars. Merele Van Nistelrooy is progressing better then expected as a 3rd round pick. Adding McTartersauce was a great grab that shores up their defense in the future. The later draft was misses. Nevada Battleborn 3x Players | Total 667 TPE Players Drafted: 4 shnopple lopple – 213 – Nevada Battleborn – Left Defense – 3rd Round Thomas Sawschuk – 225 – Nevada Battleborn – Center – 1st Round Max Carnage – 229 – Nevada Battleborn – Center – 2nd Round The Battleborn drafted incredibly well, picking up 1st round talent in the 3rd round! Max Carnage has been a force on the ice, and he is doing an incredible in the community as well. Thomas Sawschuck is a future leader for the Battleborn. They missed on one late pick, not bad at all. Newfoundland Berserkers 4x Players | Total 791 TPE Players Drafted: 4 Paul Matz – 158 – Newfoundland Berserkers – Right Defense – 4th Round Luke Labrie – 188 – Newfoundland Berserkers – Right Wing – 3rd Round Erik Erikson – 218 – Newfoundland Berserkers – Right Wing – 2nd Round Adelbert Steiner – 227 – Newfoundland Berserkers – Right Defense – 1st Round The Berserkers did well with their early picks, Adelbert Steiner was a bit unknown as a new player, but he has fully earned his draft selection. Erikson has been great addition. Labrie has done really well keeping pace as a later selection. Matz is still active and learning the league. 4/4 at the Draft! Quebec City 1x Players | Total 204 TPE Players Drafted: 2 Net Man – 204 – Quebec City Citadel – Goalie – 2nd Round They needed a goalie and they got one. Net Man has progressed better then any other goalie in the league. With only one other pick it was a miss. To be fair Quebec only picked in the second and fifth round so it was going to be a toss up if the second player would even be active for long. Regina Elks x3 Players | Total 595 TPE Players Drafted: 4 Thor Odinsson – 158 – Regina Elks – Defense – 4th Round Just-to-Buy My-Love – 213 – Regina Elks – Right Wing – 1st Round Mercedes Baylé – 224 – Regina Elks – Left Wing – 2nd Round Mercedes was an amazing pick in the second round and has been out pacing some of the 1st round talent with their diligence to training. My-Love has done well to keep up activity and continue to grow. Thor should continue to grow as he has stayed active and for a 4th rounder that is doing well. 3 out of 4 ain’t bad for draft picks. St. Louis Scarecrows 5x Players | Total 993 TPE Players Drafted: 8 Dean Ventresca – 174 – St. Louis Scarecrows – Center – 6th Round Kyle Baretto – 190 – St. Louis Scarecrows – Goalie – 3rd Round Marshall Madden – 203 – St. Louis Scarecrows – Left Wing – 1st Round Jay Bryzi – 207 - St. Louis Scarecrows – Right Defense – 1st Round Dominik Winters – 219 – St. Louis Scarecrows – Center – 1st Round Dean Ventresca maybe the steal of the draft, one of two players picked in the 6th round and he is still active! Great job by the Scarecrow scouting department. Armed with 3 first round picks the Scarecrows were able to add some top end talent early in this draft and grabbed three great players. Kyle Baretto is progressing well and seems to have goalie of the future locked down. Still despite the 6th round steal only 5 of 8 players selected are active considering 3 picks are first rounds so practically give me’s. Vancouver Whalers 5x Players | Total 1092 TPE Players Drafted: 8 Johnny FourStar – 180 – Vancouver Whalers – Right Wing – 3rd Round Bob Wehadababyitsaboy – 221 – Vancouver Whalers – Left Defense – 1st Round Inactive Forever – 227 – Vancouver Whalers – Right Wing – 3rd Round Thomas Liebold – 231 – Vancouver Whalers – Right Wing – 3rd Round Bellamy Blake – 233 – Vancouver Whalers – Left Defense – 2nd Round Now on the other hand, 8 picks only 5 active. But they only had one first round pick, both their 3rd round picks and second round pick are out pacing most 1st rounders, talk about a win! Johnny FourStar is doing well too. This could be the draft that redefines the Whalers as they build towards their future. Yukon Malamutes 4x Players | Total 887 TPE Players Drafted : 5 Donny Dangle – 211 – Yukon Malamutes – Left Wing – 3rd Round Jordan Tanner – 212 – Yokon Malamutes – Right Wing – 2nd Round Theodore Svatos – 227 – Yukon Malamutes – Right Wing – 2nd Round (Drafted by Detroit Falcons) Furious Chicken – 237 – Yukon Malamutes – Left Defense – 1st Round Furious Chicken is the league leader in TPE earned. 3 picks are active, but all 3 are killing it! Adding Theodore Svatos was a really smart move. Would have loved to have seen one of their later picks remain active but as a whole this was a great rookie class for the Malamutes. Overall the Teams have each done a great job at drafting and developing the future. TPE LEADERS: Furious Chicken – 237 – Yukon Malamutes – Left Defense – 1st Round Levin Schattenaxt – 235 – Great Falls Grizzlies – Right Wing – 1st Round Oliver Castillon – 235 – Colorado Raptors – Center – 1st Round Finn Weiß – 235 – Anchorage Armada – Right Wing – 1st Round Biggest Steal: Dean Ventresca – 174 – St. Louis Scarecrows – Center – 6th Round Thomas Liebold – 231 – Vancouver Whalers – Right Wing – 3rd Round Aaron Ranger – 188 – Carolina Karken – Left Wing - 4th Round Best Unknown (New Member): Furious Chicken – 237 – Yukon Malamutes – Left Defense – 1st Round Max Carnage – 229 – Nevada Battleborn – Center – 2nd Round Adelbert Steiner – 227 – Newfoundland Berserkers – Right Defense – 1st Round Best Team Future: Yukon Malamutes Vancouver Whalers Colorado Raptors I am Looking forward to seeing how the landscape continues to change as the league year progresses. Good Luck to All! ![]() Sig by Lazyeye
