S71 will be "Long" John's last. He will enter that season 2nd in LA Panthers franchise history in goals, 5th in assists, and 2nd in points.
Donair will also be my last player in simulation sports. I really thought I would be done after Mander. Some friends of mine, @sve7en and @Faelax, asked me if I had heard of the SHL when we were disc golfing. That might've been around S55. I replied that I had already been there, and without getting into the extent to which I *was* here, I let them explain their podcast ideas and stuff like that. I learned later that @AgentSmith630 was also in on this. I got to know @hockeyiscool shortly after. All the while I just sort of casually created Donair, after hearing that it's a new simulator and stuff. Luckily I got back on Anaheim with some familiar faces and I just started researching which builds were working. @BDonini was dealing with a lot for a few seasons, but he still gathered some great Outlaws squads. I ended up doing pretty well while making a lot of new [and old] friends on LAP. I also ended up max earning for a long enough time (and hitting that casino parlay every time tyvm) to ride out the beginning of the end, which was probably about a year ago. While in graduate school I learned a few tricks with R to create the GCoolFactor thing that ended up getting me a lot of money, and it entertained a decent amount of people too (likely more than my podcast ever did lol). I haven't really done AC's or PT's or checked in here in a while. I guess visits to the forum got less and less reflexive when I was sure Donair would be my last player ever. I was an angry 20-something when I found this place. My wife wasn't even a girlfriend yet. She was someone I had looked back up after moving to a new place to take on a new job. Now we have a two-year old daughter, and I have a Masters in a field that I truly enjoy. She's watched nearly my entire sim league career, with varying levels of enthusiasm of course. I asked her what I should say since, besides people commenting a good memory they may have of us together here and me replying to it, this'll probably be the last time I post here. She, expectedly, neither knew nor really cared. As correct as she might be, I want to at least thank @FuzzSHL and @thedangazone for taking a chance on me and drafting Donair. I did what I could, got you a Cup and a lot of goals. Apart from that, you have healed my heart and given me peace. I was very regretful about how this entire sim universe sat in my memory. It wasn't coming up every morning, rent-free, tormenting me. But I knew that the version of myself that had made it to these boards all those years ago was not my proudest self, like I am today. I got to play the game the right way, and it's all because of you two. The rest of the people on the Panthers were absolutely incredible as well. We had a really great bunch and I'm ecstatic to say that I was on a Challenge Cup Championship team. I can now put this chapter of my life to rest knowing that, for nearly 3 calendar years, I worked on my last player and it was both fun and successful. Thanks, everybody. Goodbye. ![]() HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head

100% going to miss seeing you around. When fuzz and I took over we really had no idea what to expect or if you were even going to want to stick around but I’m so happy you did. The past 2 years have been amazing getting to know you and watching Carl grow. I wish you nothing but the best in life and maybe one day we’ll randomly see you return to grace our presence again. <3

To add on to what @thedangazone said, we had no idea what was going to happen with you when we took over in LA. You had @sve7en’s vote of confidence, and that was enough for me at the time. From Day 1, you were far and above one of the most positive people in the locker room. You made us laugh and smile and I can honestly say that you left an impact not only on LA, but on myself. Watching you and Carl grow over all this time has been a privilege and an honor. We will miss you dearly, but all great things must eventually come to an end.
Wishing you and your family nothing but the best. Thank you for everything ![]() ![]() Registered S35 Challenge Cup Champion || Still Drunk ![]() SHL GM SHL GM ![]() Graphic Graders Posting Freak
It was a pleasure sharing so many LAP season with you. We had some history on the PHL, but I never really got to know you until you came to LA. I'm glad you have the league another chance and shared your life and Carl with us. You will be missed and I wish you the best Gcool.
