Ever since he was 3 in S57, Westley Kirkpatrick has been watching the SHL. When the nearby team the Chicago Syndicate
 won the challenge cup that year Westley was hooked.When Westley got older he joined a little league and began to hone his craft as a defenseman. The young farm boy would go from milking cows in the morning, to school, and then hockey practice at night. When asked for comment his father stated: "That boy never really understood the concept of sleep. After getting home he would watch the Syndicate games on the tele before heading to bed. And then he would wake up the next morning to practice puckhandling through the chickens." While Westley was developing as a great defender he never quite settled as a true defensemen. His father attributes Westley's two-way game to his favorite player Ryuuji Minamino, and Westley began to model his game after the power forward by trying to bulk up and get more physical in both zones. Westley has been quoted as saying his favourite hockey memory was getting to watch the S64 Finals, including games 1 and 2 which Westley was able to get tickets for thanks to his Coach Stan Mikita. While he has been a little tight lipped on details, Westley was willing to say that he has been scouted by multiple teams in the SMJHL and that he hopes to be drafted in one of the first 3 rounds. Scouting reports on the player indicate Westley has a good work ethic, and can work efficiently in either zone. His offensive strengths are in his puckhandling and passing, Westley is better known for his ability to distribute the puck in the offensive zone than he is for shooting opposing defenses should worry more about who he might give the puck to, than they should about if he's got an open shooting lane. On defense Westley tends to be quite the physical player, with checking and shot blocking being his strong suits.
