[x2 Draft Media] Team Needs Post Draft Pt.2
#1

We are keeping our team needs coverage rolling with our second installation.

Falcons Detroit Falcons:

Before the draft Detroit had:

1/2 Goalies: Their only goalie hasn't improved since last season, any new player to the team is looking at a starter position.
3/6 Defensemen: With only half their defensemen this teams d-corps is ripe for a shakeup, while their number one defender is guaranteed the top spot the rest of the slots are wide open to any motivated rookie.
10/8 Wingers: Although Detroit has a glut of wingers a few spots on the third and fourth line look open, while they don't need anyone here a draft and trade away a depth for depth may be useful for them.
3/4 Centers: While their center spot is almost filled and the top two are likely to hold their spots, a motivated player may be able to crack the second line before the end of the season.

With 5 picks speckled throughout the first 5 rounds, Detroit seems to be able to draft to any position and fill a slot:

RD1: Defenseman Zedward Zilliams and Winger The Murray, both of these picks are good with Zedward looking like a good option for the available first pairing slot and Murray giving them space to trade out depth wingers in hockey trades for positions in need.
RD3: Goalie Wayne Holloway and Center Trevor Lahey, once again two good picks for detroit to fill their available slots, Holloway is looking like a good pick to be Detroit's starter for the upcoming season and Lahey will be a great pickup for the third line center slot.
RD5: Defenseman RIP Pat Stay, another good pickup for detroit filling up another defenseman slot.

Where Detroit stands now:

After the draft Detroit has 2 goalies, 5 defensemen, 11 wingers, and 4 centers. Look for them to trade out an extra winger for picks or to fill out their last defensive slot.

Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies:

Before the draft Great Falls had:

2/2 Goalies: Their starting goalie is mostly likely keeping his spot all season, their backup on the other hand has had little improvement and is likely to be in a battle for their spot.
4/6 Defensemen: While Great Falls has most of their defensemen this teams d-corps is ripe for a shakeup, like Detroit their number one defender is guaranteed the top spot, however the rest of the slots are wide open to any motivated rookie.
10/8 Wingers: Great Falls has all their winger slots filled with top tier wingers a rookie winger is likely to struggle to make the roster here.
1/4 Centers: Their only center hasn't improved much from the beginning of last season, look for them to draft centers to fill out this roster.

With 5 picks in the first 4 rounds, Great Falls seems to be in desperate need of centers:

RD1: Defenseman Arnost Hlemyzd, while not exactly the center the desperately need Arnost is looking to be a great defenseman in a league where defensemen are slim pickings, since they need a few it doesn't seem too bad a pick.
RD2: Goalie Beau Kavanagh, Once again not filling their center slots but grabbing a strong backup goaltender can never be a terrible idea.
RD3: Defensemen Oskar Samuelsson and Billy Hill, while they once again pick up two strong defenseman you can't help but wonder how many faceoffs Great Falls plans to lose as they seem to be grabbing defense over centers, look for this team to spend a lot of time breaking out of their zone and having a large number of takeaways.
RD4: Center Nathan Thompson, Great Falls finally takes a center to fill the gaping hole in their lineup, great pick, but after this draft I'm left scratching

Where Great Falls stands now:

After the draft Detroit has 3 goalies, 7 defensemen, 10 wingers, and 2 centers. With some good wingers on the outside looking in, look for Great Falls to trade them out to fill their half filled center corps with some top line talent.

Knights Kelowna Knights:

Before the draft Kelowna had:

2/2 Goalies: Both goalies on this team are absolute studs, this team can have either their 1a or 1b steal a few games for them this year

6/6 Defensemen: With their d-corps filled there isn't much need for Kelowna here, though their third pairing may have a slot or two open for a motivated rookie.

7/8 Wingers: Their winger corps is almost filled Kelowna still has a spot open here for a rookie.

2/4 Centers: While their top two centers are most likely stuck in their slots for the season this is the position of highest need for Kelowna as they only have half the group they need.

With 5 picks in the first 4 rounds, Kelowna doesn't seem to need much to fill their squad:

RD1: Defenseman Rocky Orwell, with so much of their roster already spoken for, they picked a great defenseman and should be looking at having a solid d-corps this season.

RD2: Wingers Arthur Kaliyev and Trey Daniels, doing a good job filling up their open slots and giving themselves options this round, Kelowna's team is certainly shaping up and may be a major threat in the postseason.

RD3: Goaltender Activity Check, not sure with this pick as Kelowna already have two great goaltenders and the team still has a need at center, but they may be betting that their current centers will be good enough by the playoffs.

RD4: Defenseman Joshua Luna, once again neglecting their holes at center Kelowna has opted to grab further depth for their defense, may not be bad, but still neglecting a team need.

Where Kelowna stands now:

After the draft Kelowna has 3 goalies, 8 defensemen, 8 wingers, and 2 centers. Look for them to trade out a depth defenseman for to obtain a center or two.

I would also like to thank Detroit First Round Pick The Murray for being the creator of the original depth charts

Oooooooooof. Though I agree GFG could use some more help at a certain position, suggesting the rookie D pickups will lead to lost faceoffs due to lack of depth? Hot take city. Great read, but expect a few extra hits coming from me this season for that one. Good luck bud! #YearOfTheGrizz
