S71 PT #1: Public Relations

When Egli showed up to the practice facility on Monday it was like any other day. He got a bit of a pump on, stretched it out, had a protein shake, earbuds in, fuckin' game time. He had a skate laces in each of his hands just about ready to tie them up when HFFO's kinda sexy assistant Egg came in and said the boss wanted to see him. Which is like totally not cool, Egli was just about to hit the ice.

Anyway, skates come off and Egli slips on that hella cute blue on blue Edmonton tracksuit before heading upstairs to the executive offices. HFFO was sitting at the end of a long conference table and was already talking when Egli stepped in the room, he said "Smegli, my boy. Here's the long and short of it. Everybody loves you. You're the best. A1. But the brass is thinking of relocating the team to Saakatchatewan or some shit. Not good for anyone. We need you to do some PR and keep us here in Edmonton."

No problem boss! It's summer time, sun is out and everybody is anybody is sitting on a patio smashing white claws with the boys. And what does everybody want in the summer? That's fucking right, some molten hot melted raclette from Egli's sweet home of Switzerland. Egli walked around downtown with a few wheels of cheese scraping off the melted bits onto everyone's food. Until the cops came. Apparently people don't want that?

Who knows. Hopefully Skasatcheswan is nice and warm in the winter.

Hai Nam Hoang doesn't like to be in the spotlight, he finds it awkward and artificial, but he still finds time to donate money to local charities, frequently making stops in Great Falls to ensure his donations to the city are met with smiles and friendly faces. Hoang lent his name to a wing of the Children's Hospital in Great Falls, and often works with children's causes at home in Vietnam and in Minneapolis. For the team, Hoang does whatever events or outreach programs that the teams asks of him, never wasting a moment to represent his team with the best light. Doing these events is just part of the job, to Hoang, it's part of why so much is expected of hockey players and people like his teammates. It's simply another part of why he plays hockey. It's an expectation and a privilege.

PLAYER PROMPT:
Since joining the league Uskjal has taken up the habit of dropping by local recreational leagues. He watches the games and speaks with fans/players alike about hockey as a sport. He is always eager to help with any technical quesstion and sometimes even hands out goodies such as jerseys, skates or sticks that he got through sponsorship deals. He even suited up a couple of times with the amateuers, as he truly enjoys the sport of hockey regardless with or agains whom he is playing. Furthermore this can be combined with community outreach programs, something uskjal gladly makes time for in his calendar. Uskjal has teamed up with a local profesional figure skater with whom he teaches skating to locals. Uskjal has also begun learning figure skating, while the efffort seems futile it is much to the amusement of the local youths. All in all uskajl just tries to make sure to be a valuabel member to his city, trying to give back for the trust put in him.

Inactive forever has been working on his goal celebrations since he was just a wee lad. His unique and fantastic celebrations when he scores a goal are what makes fans like him so much and makes his jersey a great seller. He also loves to interact with fans, he will frequently give up his stick to a fan at the end of the game, sometimes even an opposing fan. He also donates all his jersey sales profits to charity. He doesn't care about getting that extra profit, he just cares about the game and giving back to the fans. If he could boost his jersey sales more he would be happy because that would mean that the fans appreciate him. His sales have been good lately but forever always wants to do better for his team and the fans. Forever hopes when he goes up to hamilton he can still sell a lot of his jerseys

Miguel Hefeweizen loves the game of hockey. He has spent most of his life dedicated to being the best player and teammate he can be. He has made a lot of money playing hockey. However, the teams and the league make even more money. One of the things Miguel Hefeweizen detests the most is asking government to fund professional sports. Sure, the teams bring a lot of business to the city, but they make even more. If the team and the league want a nice arena to play in, then they should pay for it themselves. Miguel also hates politics and he refuses to get involved in asking for money. The team can be mad at him, but he will happily play in some basement arena to prove his point. The only thing he cares about is making sure the arena is safe for the fans, as they should be able to enjoy a game without worrying about being shanked by a hobo in the parking lot.

Jiggle E. Puff is already one of the most popular hockey players in the province of Quebec. Beyond that, he is one of the most famous athletes of any sport or background in the Kanto region. He achieved this fame through two main avenues. First off is his hockey skill. Despite having had a quiet second season, Jiggle E Puff's rookie season was one of the greatest seasons of all time, averaging over a point per game while not even earning that much tpe. Meanwhile his singing career has taken off and he is the face of Kanto's got Talent, where he has assumed the role of a judge this past off season. He uses this platform not only to rep himself and the Quebec City Citadelles, but also the entire Simulation Hockey League as well. Jiggle makes sure that he is extremely friendly with all the contestants and other judges so he represents the league well!

PLAYER PROMPT - Get That Sweater-sales Bag

Written Task:  Tell me what your player does to boost his profile with the fans! You probably want to be popular with them, if only to boost your jersey sales and make that extra dough, so how do you go about interacting with them? Alternatively, if your player truly does not care, how does that affect his interactions with fans? (150+ words)

One of the first shocks Levin has had when he moved to North America to go play in the SMJHL, was how passionate and rowdy the local fans were compared to home in Pratteln, or even nearby Basel - by the end of the playoffs, he even heard the Québec City fans chanting his name! He learned, however, that northern Canada fan bases are an exception, rather than the norm, when it comes to recognizing hockey players off the ice. While the fans inside the arena are plenty excited for the local games, when Levin goes shopping, or walking around his neighbourhood, few are the strangers that do a double take, and even fewer do call him out by his name to chat, shake hands, or take a picture together. Which means that for now, even if he wanted to connect with his fans... His only real options are through social media, which doesn't enthuse him in the slightest. He has no idea what could be in store for him when he finally goes to San Francisco, as that city is much bigger than the ones he's been used to so far in his career - which means even more occasions for exposure, wanted or not. He'll have to chat with Victor Hargreeves, who was his teammate in Québec City, to try and have an idea of the media and fan attention in that market... And devise a social media strategy with the marketing branch of the Pride. The thought alone is enough to make Levin shudder.

He gets canceled. Hirano take it to another level and pulls a Mitchell miller and gets canceled. What a way to boost the hate and follower Count by doing something terrible and proceeding to think it’s okay. At the end of the day it’ll work out more follower count by the haters. Technically all fans are just a follower number on Twitter, instagram, even YouTube! Whatever you have to do and it’ll already be done by Hirano. Getting canceled in todays society is a sure way to be posted on SHL pages for the rest of the year. Absolutely going to decimate the entire social media hockey platform by getting canceled. It’s the only way at the end of the day. None the less he may have to disappear for awhile because there will be a lynch team after him and that’s no fun I would know. Sometimes you gotta avoid the sauce and that’s one way to do it by running away after getting canceled. How would Hirano get canceled? By saying something insane! That’s how it all happens at the end of the day. There is no forgiveness there are no prisoners only lynching and cancelling human being until they start a new life or pass away to personal circumstances.

So... this is the dumbest request ever made because the Citadelles play at Centre Vidéotron, which is pretty much brand new. Quebecor, Vidéotron's parent company, who own the building (I guess?) are known to employ a bunch of morons who create the biggest trash as far as media is concerned in the province so nobody should be surprised they came up with this. Obviously, no player is interested in participating in their campaign to get an even bigger arena right next to the current one because they have more than 1 functional brain cell. This whole thing is an embarrassment not only for the players of the Québec City Citadelles but also to all the people in the city and even more than that to humankind as a whole. I'm having a hard time milking this theme for enough words to call this PT done because it's just so ridiculous but here we are. Quebecor, you suck.

Player Prompt

One of the best ways to gain popularity among fans is to just show some semblance of a personality. The way to go about that is just being yourself during interviews, don't give the standard hockey player response. Also, be flashy, practice those good looking moves and use them when appropriate. Another great way is to be active on social media, be it instagram, twitter, or tiktok. There are so many great ways to market yourself as an athlete and it sucks to see that it rarely happens in real life. Someone I think about a lot that's good at making himself popular is zegras. Like obviously he's really good but there are better players that are less known to the average fan. Dude actually has a personality, and he's bringing some sick highlight reel goals into the league. So my player would try to follow this example and make himself popular for those jersey sales.
