Deep Dive #2 - A closer look on Québec
#1

Québec City Citadelles were going into the season with the sole purpose of rebuilding the team. As such not many people if any at all had much of an expectations for the Citadelles. However with a seventh place finish in the overall league standings and a second place finish in the division standings it is safe to say that the Citadelles have performed above expectations. One can of course only wonder on what the reason might be behind this relatively successful season -even with their early exit from the playoffs- to which one of the main contributer are their rookie class which is both quite big in terms of number of rookies and also seem to be improving on a drastic rate at this moment in time. WIth said rookie class including names such as Frøya Solberg, Shawn Pawn, Sonja Solberg, Loe Roze, Juan Tymer, Céleste Desjardins and many more. Speaking of Céleste Desjardins, they are certainly one of the names on everyone’s lips as they have had a very impressive rookie season with an impressive 87 points scored -37 goals and 50 assists- in the regular season and a further 6 points scored -4 goals and 2 assists- in the playoffs. With such an impressive season behind their back, they are certainly looking to win RoTY award at the end of the season.

As stated above the Citadelles have a very strong core built after this season of which they can easily build upon. As they are „only” losing Net Man who of course is still going to be a big loss -especially for their rookie class who seemed to built a cult around the goaltender- but even with that loss they are still looking very good. Especially if they can reinforce well in the upcoming drafts which if we go by last season’s drafts, they very much can do so. So future is looking bright at Québec in this moment in time.

There is of course a few concerns in the Québec City Citadelles front office. After all with Net Man leaving and Fergus Stewart not improving much, they will be in need of a new goaltender in the upcoming draft. Of course this isn’t as big of a problem as it sounds at first glance. After all they have a lot of draft picks for the upcoming draft. And then there is probably one of if not the best GM duo -totally unbiased oppinion- of Ramen and Lore present at the Citadelles front office. The duo have been working relentlessly at improving Québec and have been key figures in mentoring their latest rookies. Of that there could not be a better proof than Sonja Solberg who has managed to build a father-daughter like relationship with Ramen.

All in all the future looks very bright at Québec City Citadelles as they have built a strong core, looking set to strengthen the team even further and as such are in a good position for next season to build on their already impressive season even further and perhaps even aim for at least going deeper into the playoffs if not even making it all the way through to the very end.
