Sarmad Khan
@sarmo Just like Scott Stevens, we all know the Sarmad Khan Award. It is for players voted MVP each season. Do we often know why it is called the Khan? Probably not. Who is the player behind the award? This is what we are going to discover. S1-S5 - Dead Puck Era Another Season 1 player, Sarmad Khan was drafted 17th OA to the West Kendall Platoon in the 3rd Round of the draft. S1 saw Khan score 13 goals, 17 assists for 30 points. Good for 4th in the league in points. S2 saw Khan score 17 goals, 27 assists for 44 points in 38 games played(2 games injured). With a huge bump in points, 2nd in points for the season. Sarmad Khan would go on to win both of the league MVP's. Now we call them the Ron Mexico for MVP, and the Sarmad Khan for player voted MVP. Khan would also win his first Challenge Cup with the Platoon. S3 saw Khan have a major regression in goals. Only scoring 8 goals this season, along with 22 assists for 30 points. Still good for 6th in points for the season. Very much an elite player in the first 3 seasons of the league, Khan is making a name for being one of the best players in the league. S4 saw Khan lose a step though. Only 9 goals, 15 assists for 24 points, he was only good for 16th in the league in points. S5 also saw him score 24 points that time too. S6-S8 - Experimental Era S6, with the start of regression for Khan, and the SHL jumping to 60 games played. Khan scored 14 goals, 20 assists for 34 points. 41st in points. The regression starting to affect Khan. Starting to slow down… S7 saw Khan get traded. Away from the place he called home for 6 seasons. While he was the captain, won 2 cups with them. West Kendall traded Khan to the Panthers after Khan asked out. He said in that thread “first off id like to laugh at everyone who criticized me about wanting to leave the platoon because "i couldnt play good without holmes and reay and was scared i would suck". well go look at my stats to see how wrong you guys were Wink but anyways im sad to leave the platoon after 6 and a half amazing seasons, id like to thank everyone who were my teammates there and everyone who rivaled me, it made the experience so much better. i especially would like to thank nando for believing in me and making me into a recognized star in this league, sad to leave such a great organization that always exceeded expectations, but it was time to move on. <3 as for the panthers, im excited to be on the team and have a fresh start. LA has already won a cup and im looking forward to win more with the talent we got on the team. lots of friends here so im happy to be a panther, cant wait to get on the ice in all black! thanks to everyone for making this possible!” S7 saw Khan go back to his usual self. In the 50 games played split over WKP and LAP. Khan scored 18 goals, 27 assists for 45 points. T-8th in the league in points, Khan wouldn't die so easily. S8 Khan got his 1st 20 goal season of his career, and his only 50+ point season. Scoring 20 goals, 32 points for 52 points. Khan was 5th in points for that season. Los Angeles has given him another gear. Allowing him to be a top player again. S9 is the only season in the inflation Era Khan played in. Scoring 12 goals, 27 assists for 39 points (33rd in points). Khan called it a career there. 368 GP, 111 goals, 187 assists for 298 points. Winning a Ron Mexico and Khan. Sarmad Khan was one of the best players at the start of the SHL. Making his mark at the start of the league, having his name be the Award for player voted MVP. For that, he is 63rd on the list. ![]() ![]() Registered S2, S5, S12, S39 Challenge Cup Champion and The MVP
