The Detroit Falcons were founded in S5 of the SMJHL. While not the oldest team in the league they have a history as being one of the oldest founded in S5 - certainly a long time considering how the league is in the 76 season 71 years of history with a talon as sharp as ever. Detroit has had three logos including their most recent iconic outlined falcon. Rumor has it that players from this team turn part bird and are known to SKREEEE at each other in communication - this is actually a tactile (although not always used) way to communicate on and off the ice. Due to a tragic accident the SMJHL lost the first 9 years of history in the league - we can rightfully assume that Detroit won those years S5-S9 and continued that into season 10. From season 10 until S75 the Falcons have finished first in the league in the following seasons S5, S6, S7, S8, S9, (History was lost but going off of how small the league was and the fact Detroit won in S10 it must be true) S10, S14, S18, S22, S23, S24, S44, S45, S49, S52, S53, S65, S68, S69, S75. The Falcons won the legendary 4 star cup in seasons S5, S9, S23, S34, S37, S53, S65, S68, and most recent S75 - bringing the Four Star Cup to Detroit a total of 9 times. Currently the team is seeking a back to back cup win a feat not easily accomplished. This provides the team with a deep history of making it to the finals as the top team - 15 verified wins with another 5 unverifiable wins on top! The team has been through lots of league formats and rule changes as teams have been added throughout the years of the SMJHL. Since the focus is on Detroit I have included some facts that are a fair comparison of the city and by that extent the team overall. Notably the first mile of concrete was paved in Detroit fitting for a city who has agile hockey players. Detroit was also a leader in smuggling in alcohol during the prohibition era - which makes sense given how the Falcons party unlike anyone else. Michigan is one of the coldest states in the US making it ideal for native USA players to find there way into the SMJHL and later the SHL. The Falcons have had 24 general managers and 9 Co GM since being being founded in season 5. In the most recent draft for S76 Detroit picked up 2 new players a recreate goalie Anastasia Söderström who was drafted at 15 at the top of the 2nd round and center Brayden Point who was drafted 29th at the top of the 3rd round. The team is planning on creating a dynasty for the fans and has high hopes continuing to rock the league. Looking into the pre season as an indicator Detroit has shown the other teams it has not lost its wings going 3-0. Getting first pick on any goalie in the league is a huge payoff for the Falcons on top of getting rookie Brayden Point. Even the announcers were shocked someone so active was able to be picked up late by the talons of the Falcon. Both players are active and great additions to continue the hopes and dreams for the Falcons on their conquest for the cup. If I had to say the Falcons are going to outright win the cup this year due to the new active drafted players. Typically in a draft the best players get drafted first and you lose a high draft when you win the cup the previous year here the Falcons got first stab at a goalie and a late super active player. Even for not being a SHL team Detroit is a big city and pulls in a large crowd of fans to see the game live. The fan base is one of the secret weapons of Detroit they are active, loyal, and quick to defend the team through the good and bad seasons. Detroit is an old team with a lot of history.
