the Yukon Malamutes are just as cursed as the Colorado Raptors or Regina Elk, in that they never really won a 4 star cup. Starting this one off strong folks! While the franchise has technically won in both S47 and S52, they were the Anaheim Outlaws. According to the research I pulled off, the name was changed in S65, And @Fluw has been the GM ever since. (Starting is S64 if the stats make sense...)


So let's look at the playoff records from as far back as we can go, which is S45 when this team was first founded.

In S45, the Outlaws were taken out by the Halifax Raiders in round 1.
In S46, the Outlaws were taken out by the Montreal Militia in round 2. Both the above loses were in game 5 of the series, so not a great showing for the first 2 seasons, but they were young, and showing improvement.

in S47, they won the 4 star Cup beating the Militia in a game 7 showdown. 3 seasons old, 1 championship in is a pretty remarkable achievement. From what I can tell @Dangles13 was the GM ata the time, with @SpartanGibbles as the Co leader!

In S48 they lost to the eventual champions, the Whalers, in a game 7 again.

In S49 they lost in another game 7, this time to the Scarecrows.

In S50 they lose to the Falcons, a game 6 loss this time.

In S51 they lost in 7 to Anchorage, who went on to be the champs!

In S52 they lost to no one as they took out the Scarecrows to get the 2nd Cup of the franchise. 2 playoffs, 8 wins, pretty solid.  Note that @BDonini and @nykonax were the Gm's at this point!

This is where things get less solid.

From S53 - Today they have not won the cup again.  They made it to the finals 2 times, losing once in S54 to the Kraken, and once in S57 to the Armada. They made it to the Conference finals 4 years in a row from S70-S73.


In S70 they lost to Maine, with a final tally of 2-4. They copied that exact score in S71. In S72 they pushed it to game 7, only to lose harshly by a score of 4-0. Iliket Urtles ( @RedCapeDiver ) Scored the Game winning goal, putting the Puppies back in the Kennel for a 3rd year in a row. Maine only won the cup once out of those 3 defeats in the conference finals. In S73, Newfoundland defeated the Yukon again, this time 2-4. Maine would win the cup this time around too.

I think it might be time to put the Maine Timbers as a Rival on the stats page, just FYI...

In S74, Yukon would beat the crap out of the Regina Elk (HEY! THATS ME!) only to get swept by the Cup Champion Detroit Falcons.

So what is the problem with Yukon? was the rebadging a curse?

This time around in the playoffs, Yukon is up against...


Maine...


Ohh boy. If History repeats on Yukon, it could push out another 2nd round knock out. However, it is worth nothing that Maine has NEVER knocked Yukon out in the second round. So it will be interesting.
