The offseason is closing in on us, and we are almost at the SMJHL Draft.
Before the real busy season starts, and you're going to be answering scouting messages from every team, it is time to sit back and relax a little. Dreaming about how your life would've looked without hockey.

Written Task: What would your player be doing now, if he or she hadn't pursued a career in hockey? (250 word min.)

Graphic Task: Show us a picture of your player, doing what they'd do if they weren't a hockey player.

Imagine yourself in the town of Lannion, a quaint and old city on the peninsula of Bretagne, an old Celtic nation and administrative region of France. You wake up from your small, rented apartment and drag yourself out of bed in preparation for work. You always loved the beautiful nature and landscapes of your hometown and its surrounding rural towns, but such visits are planned for the coming weekend instead. Today, you are to continue painting a massive mural to cover up the massive grey wall of a new building to bring life to an otherwise dull building. Grabbing leftovers from the night before, you gather up the dozens of different weather durable paints scattered across your abode and toss them into an ancient duffle bag unraveling itself from its frayed edges. To others it may be trash, but you know deep in your heart why it still stays around.


Down the street you go to the unfinished mural, climb up the mounted ladder, and begin your work. Lost in the depths of colours and endless details, you paint for hours on end. Creating an expansive still-life of the world it mimics, you develop an image that everyone will be in awe of. It was only once the sun crested the earth that you realized the time. You forgot everything around you, stumbling down to gather your supplies to rush to a local restaurant your friend runs. Your belly growls, deafening everything around you as your friend sets down your favourite food upon entry; you always come at dusk and your friends knows your likes after-all. The sun hides behind the horizon once more as the lights recreate their own facade of stars in the ceiling. You chat with your friend foor a couple hours once more careless of the world around you until you must head home once more and repeat your artistic talents the next day.


This is a glimpse into t the story of Gwendolyn Tellenn in a world not so far from this own.

I like to think that he’s sitting around getting ready for the season. Keeping his diet healthy and hitting the gym to make sure he’s at his absolute peak in preparation for his first season. I also think he’s practicing some gorilla martial art to make him more effective at throwing hands when he gets on the rink. Thoughtful yet short tempered I think he’s also training in meditation to try and shore up his mental weaknesses to prove to everyone else he’s not just some damn dirty ape. He’s a pretty avid skateboarder so he’d absolutely be hitting the parks whenever his free time allows. He’d also be trying to improve his passing but because of his large body and forward center of mass it’s going to be a long uphill journey for him to really start being able to be more decisive and dexterous with his puck-work, but he’s going to keep trying his hardest to improve while still making sure his strengths as a defensive player are at their peak. More recently he’s taken a trip back to his home of Uganda to spend time with his family and enjoy the beautiful beaches and jungles of his homeland. He’s planning on returning from this trip with rejuvenated sense of determination as he’s ready to take on both the season and all his teams challengers with a fury they’ll never expect.
