Sorry everyone! I totally forgot about this, and I won't be home until tomorrow night. We'll reschedule for 9:00 p.m. EST on Sunday!
![]() HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head Good evening everyone, and welcome to the Season 69 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony!
To start tonight, I would like to remind everyone of the voting rules, and some changes that we've made to help accommodate for some mistakes and errors that were made in the past with regards to eligibility and who was on the ballots. Each member of the committee (10 people in all) nominates 5 retired athletes from the list of eligible players and ranks them 1 through 5, which in turn gives these players points according to their rank (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 point for 5th). Each committee member must also provide a short written piece to back up their choices. These points are then totaled and all players who receive 35 points or more are selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. For GMs, committee members are allowed to place 2 votes, with 1st being 10 points and 2nd being 5, and a GM must receive at least 65 points to be inducted into the Hall of Fame Additionally, due to inaccuracies in determining eligible players before the Season 67 ballot, ALL players who STARTED their eligibility between Season 59 and Season 66 (The last season played must be between S57 - S64) will receive one (1) extra season of eligibility. This means the S66 1st Season Eligible players will be eligible through S73 instead of S72, and all those who started their eligibility before S67 will be eligible for one extra season, assuming they were still eligible at that time. The players with an extra season of eligibility have been marked with an asterisk ( * ) in the eligibility list. Players with eligibility starting in S67 and after will retain the original seven (7) seasons of eligibility. The eligibility years listed will not change aside from allowing eight (8) seasons of eligibility for the classes before S67. After the Ceremony for S73, the maximum number of eligible seasons will return to seven (7). Before we get to celebrate those who made it, let’s take a chance to recognize those who graced our ballots for the final time this season. Twenty-nine players were on the ballot for the final time during Season 69 who unfortunately did not garner enough votes to be inducted into the SHL Hall of Fame. Our first of 3 inductees tonight was an integral part of the Hamilton squad that terrorized the league in the late '50s and early '60s. His presence on the ice resulted in a Steelhawks win more often than not, both in the regular and in the playoffs. It's impossible to think about the dominance of that team without also thinking about how well he played throughout his 10 seasons on the ice. Many can and will say that he's in the running for the best in his position in league history, and with his astounding stats and consistency, it's not hard to see why! Please join me in welcoming our first inductee . . .

Fittingly, he has two Anton Razov awards (plus another nomination), as well as a Mike Honcho, with 2 All-SHL nods and 4 cups to top it all off.” “A stud who helped carry HAM to many cups. One of the best Goalies of his time” “Massive winning percentage, 2 playoff MVPs, a Honcho. Won 4 cups and was named playoff MVP in half of them. In terms of milestones, cleared 400 wins (ranks highly among existing HOF goalies), one of the highest shutout totals of all time. He's been a bridesmaid on the past couple of classes but I think it's beyond time he gets in.” ![]() HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head
Our second inductee of the evening was with Chicago for his entire career, playing 16 seasons for the Syndicate. His name was often in the ring whenever excellent defensemen were mentioned, and it's not hard to see why. 4 All-SHL appearances and a Stevens and a Richan win make it easy to see how he helped Chicago to two Challenge Cup victories. But he wasn't just a purely defensive player, as his offensive stats easily show that he excelled at being a successful two-way player who could help his team on both ends of the ice. Please join me in welcoming our second inductee . . .

He is the epitome of the ideal 2-way defender. CK did it all: racked up points comparable to the top offensive defensemen, backed those up with defensive stats that are shoulder to shoulder with elite defensive D-Men and managed to do so while playing in every situation for his team. He played top pairing minutes that included being on both the PP and PK, had 2 award noms and 2 wins, and played for an impressive 16 seasons. "Longevity, Consistency, Performance, and Playoffs. It doesn't matter what metric you look at, Kennedy has done it and done it well. Appearing on 5 All-SHL teams across 16 seasons, an elite point-producing defender who also took home a Stevens during his time in the league. Kennedy was easily a deserving vote recipient." “Tied for second most All-SHL appearances with 5, top 5 most points (621), top 5 highest point/game average (0.67), 2 cups, 2 award wins (tied for second most) out of any eligible defenseman over a long 16 season career. Was a two-way guy playing both top powerplay and penalty kill minutes.” ![]() HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head
Our final inductee of the evening was more of a journeyman than our previous two. Playing for 4 teams throughout his career, this player was an offensive powerhouse and an integral part of the Hamilton team that won 3 of its 4 recent Challenge Cups from S58 - S63. His four different Award wins, including a McDonald, a Mexico, and a Karpostov, define his role as a reliable player who could consistently stand out amongst his peers. Please join me in congratulating our final inductee . . .

An all-around outstanding player" "An elite points per game average, leads eligible players in awards on top of 2 additional nominations, won 4 cups on top of it. The hardware and cup wins alone make this a slam-dunk first-ballot HOFer in my opinion, but the stats are there too." ![]() HOF Committee Hall of Fame Head

Only 1 GM received votes during this voting season, but unfortunately, it was not enough to be inducted.
This concludes the Season 69 Hall of Fame Induction ceremony! Please join me in congratulating our newest inductees one final time!
