I feel free agency isn't that exciting because we don't really know who is going to be a UFA coming up. I would like to see a full list of UFAs ranked by TPE made before free agency opens up. I personally can not hit FA as I'm a co-gm but I would love to test the market and make more friends if given a chance. I love you HFFO <3 please don't fire me.

I've never experienced free agency, but my player just got traded. It was due to cap issues and roster space. That's likely the only reason I wouldn't re-sign with a team is if they just couldn't keep me.

The biggest issue to me is that free agency just isn't all that fun. To get to that point you have to disappoint your team and managers, and the way the cap works in sim leagues it's rarely advantageous to go with a team that can afford to bid for you. Most people sign for as low as they can anyways. To get me to go to free agency I'd have to really just not be happy where I'm at, I can't imagine doing it for the reasons we see free agency happen in reality [money, for eg.].

I'd only approach free agency at the moment if I have a full breakdown of relations with my team, or something no longer meshes. I'm honestly pretty content with where I'm at currently!

This is only like loosely related to the prompt but I recently thought about having a player that I max earned with, but refused to sign with any SHL teams until 2000 TPE. Just hung out as an eternal free agent until I was at peak, I think if more players did that it would make free agency more fun

All i ever want in Free Agency or in a team, is the fact that they want me to be a part of their team. I just want to go to a team that wants me there. Playing time, Getting a cup, and all that is just an added bonus

Man to be honest I am trying my best to be a manhattan faithful but if a winning team came knocking i'd have to at least answer the door and see what they wanted.

I never experienced free agency since I'm a new player , but I believe being a free agent should be the last resort if you're not happy with your current team. Ask for a trade first, and if they can't do it, I guess not re-signing is OK.

I would never do so because of the fact that I am the General Manager of a team in the Simulation Hockey League, which therefore means I would never be a free agent

With regards to free agency, I have been there and done that. The only real way I end up a free agent is if Toronto is unable to trade me in the event they needed to in order to make budget room, and had to let me walk to FA. Otherwise, I will be in the blue and white until retirement.

Something really bad would have to happen to team management and the locker room for me to look for free agency. I am not much of a cup chaser, but maybe when my player is old and grey I might think about it.

Free agency usually isn't really that exciting in SHL. What would it take for you to seek a new team in free agency? Or if you wouldn’t ever do so, why not?
Not that I am actively looking for free agency but I think I would be looking for championship pedigree from a team. Money in the SHL isn't that big a thing because we can have so many jobs but winning a cup that goes somewhere.

While I'd rather have Celeste be a one team player for a (hopefully) illustrious career, I do see a couple possible avenues for why I'd utilize free agency. Cup chasing isn't off the table, for example, though I think a sign and trade would be more useful to everyone there. But really, it's more of a roll with the punches kind of thing.

For me to be a free agent, my contract would first have to lapse. I don't think I would seek a new team if only because the vibes from @hotdog and @micool132 are that good. I also am a generally pretty loyal sim league user.
Thanks @Amidships!

The only reason I would ever choose free agency in the simulation hockey league is if my team's locker room was absolutely horrible. I don't think that's the case though for any team, so it really makes sense as to why free agency is boring in the simulation hockey league.
