My next question is, is that a lot for the sim engine? Like will they be a significant player on their SHL team then? I wanna reiterate so I'm not flamed by anyone who hasn't listened and is reading this out of context I don't know how much of anything works in this league yet.

sort of, kind of depends what you mean by significant and the situation you’re put into 

Points aren’t everything but I think it’s the easiest stat comparison for forwards. So as an example my rookie season I played on a top 4 team, played about 18 minutes per game, and got 66 points on the season. In comparison the rookie of the year had about the same tpe, played on a bottom 4 team, about 21 minutes per game, and got 72 points which led their team in points. For reference a top player will get 100-120 points at 1800-2000 tpe

Since most rookies don’t come into the league as good goal scorers, you kind of just depend on assist for points which is reliant on how good your team is or how much time you play. Similar to real life, it’s kind of a scale, you’ll be more of a role player on a good team and can potentially be the lead forward on a bad team. The difference being no rookie will come in as an all star like what you might see in the NHL.

Rookie goalies can be very good players though since their tpe has less impact on their performance

About banked TPEs: yeah, the reason you bank a lot of TPEs in your junior years is to be competitive - or at least, not too much of a liability - during your rookie season in the SHL. First podcast in a car I listened to (sometimes hard to follow), but I love the podcast so far!
