2024 Wrapped (players edition)
#1
(This post was last modified: 12-28-2024, 12:32 PM by luke. Edited 2 times in total.)

I originally wanted to do this on the portal. Make it like a spotify wrapped. However, as the holiday season came and is now going, I did not have a chance to do it justice. However, I did get the information available though. So if I have the data, why not share it. In a more less fancy google sheet. But still important fancy google sheet lol.

Ty Jess for having the idea in dev chat. Sadly it won’t have any fancy graphics that you envisioned. Maybe next year Smile

It will be in the following tiers

Players who attributed a single attribute the post
Players who earned the most TPE total (and by task)
Players who lost the most in regression
Players who just earned the most TPE (non regression)

Users who earned the most money (with expenses)
Users who earned the most money w/o expenses
Users who spent the most money this year
Users who earned/lost the most money by type

Everything has been taken at 12/28/2024 at like 9:50 ish AM EST

But lets take a step back this season and get some broad figures

This year has been another great year for the SHL!

In total there has been 500 players that were created this year (very funny it was even)
From that, it was 490 unique users that created this year. With 10 players being recreates (created and recreated in the same year)

In total we had
133 Centers Created
84 RW created
83 RD created
75 LW created
64 Goalies Created
61 LD created

We also had a total of 407 retirements this year as well

Onto the banking in general the SHL has gained 6,182,899,998
Or 6 billion, 182 million, etc,etc

With the SHL earning 49,088,662,998 billion dollars
And spending -42,905,763,000 billion dollars this year
The SHL in general spent 3.896 billion on cards, 18.889 billion on training,  17.99 billion on coaching, and 224 million on position changes and name changes

On the slip side, the SHL earned 15.2 billion on contracts, 13.63 billion on jobs, 6.5 billion on chirping, 4.00 billion on media, 3.97 billion on Other, 1.72 billion on fantasy, 1.187 bil on graphics grading, 826 mil on casino.

Ok lets get into the users/players

Correction!

This is the little list to gather the top 5 in those who earned and lost the most TPE by corrections. We all make mistakes, and the PT team is the same. Some people got TPE regained to them, like a lost pet. Or others got it snatched away, as the TPE wasn’t theres to begin with.

On the flipside, lets see who gained the most TPE (without regression). To get a sense on the users who have max earned this whole year

We had 139 users who earned more than 1000 TPE this year as well. So congrats to them

Great wrap, as always.

I wonder how many players retired from each position. What's our net position change?

I decided to answer myself:

The site grew by 93 players in 2024. This seems high to me, but might be explained by the fact that the site hasn't yet auto-retired all the IAs from recently. Being a center has become very popular.

Overall goalie creation increased by 17%, Forward creation by 13%, and defense creation by only 5% over the year.

This is awesome! Its interesting to see that centers is the most popular but it makes sense with how FHM produces stuff. WOuld be interesting to see the split between 1st gens and recreates on it. Maybe ill do that one haha.

Very interesting to see! thanks for doing the work

For what it’s worth, AC/training numbers are up about 25-30 users year-over-year. It’s not a perfect comparison because of how the weeks line up, and we don’t have the final numbers in yet for this week. But, you’re right, the league growing by nearly 100 players is certainly high. If we are to go off of the average of the last month or so, and ignore that the last full week of data we have is from the week of Christmas, we are looking at more like a 35-40 user count growth YOY.

Really cool post. This is only tangentially related but I wonder if it's a definite trend for users to create back and forth between defense and forward (ex: retire a D, create a forward, or retire a F, create a defender), or if it's more of a mix.

I was thinking about this earlier today. I feel like it's the most rare to do two players as D or G back to back. From what I've seen, people either always start as an F or switch to F after a D/G career. (Assuming a minimum career length of like 8 seasons for those examples)
