Goalie Wins are only really used as fluff during write ups. There is much more looked at when considering a goalie to be nominated for the McBride.
The simple statement of "Goalie wins are not a stat" has been brought up a lot of times in the past and we have countered with "we know, we look at all stats and judge carefully when looking at nominees". I believe Grape's frustration comes along with how this comes up frequently and he is defending the committee. Kind of beating a dead horse type of situation. We are always listening to criticism for any award or suggestions for anything. If by any means anyone would like to express any concerns directly to me, please reach out anytime! We all obviously care a lot about recognition of our players and teammates and we all want to do what's best to make sure we get it right. I appreciate you @hhh81 for looking out for the committee to make sure we don't use any stats we shouldn't be. And given the responses from the committee it's clear we are passionate and make sure we do our best to get it right as well and that we are trying our best. ![]() ![]() SHL GM Littleton Award Winner 12-31-2024, 02:45 PMCapnCooper Wrote: Goalie Wins are only really used as fluff during write ups. I'm sure some of the frustration comes from that I just brought this up two weeks ago when half of the direct quotes/justifications from voting members referenced Justin Time's wins as he almost swept over Denebor despite the latter's dominance in everything not tied to the team in front of him. I do think there's a consensus that wins shouldn't be considered, unfortunately I think that the committee doesn't always vote along those same guidelines and there's concern about that. ![]() Registered Grape Hater 12-31-2024, 07:22 PMsve7en Wrote: Hi Coop, much love from the other side of the awards. I don't see a trend of wins being over represented in the award recipients. Looking back through the FHM era, the McBride winner has had the lead league in wins slightly less than half the time (13/27), and in several of those cases they were tied with another nominee. GSAA and SV% have been the strongest indicators of the McBride winner over that same period of time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
