This has been a very big year for a number of active long-term goalies hitting some very big numbers. There are a lot of goalies on the watch list for hitting upcoming milestones potentially this season. So take a minute with me, and let’s give praise to these guys, our last line of defense and often the least appreciated part of FHM as they have worked hard to earn these numbers. For this article I tried to focus on goalies with 8 years of SHL experience, but I am sure there are those with less that could and maybe should deserve praise in here too.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He has been fortunate to play for two powerhouse teams and in turn collect a ton of wins, with a career statistic of 2.90 GAA, 0.902 save percentage, these milestones are a given over a matter of time…no pun intended, as he has been a top tier goalie through most of his 14 seasons in the SHL. Season 80 Career Milestones: 500 wins 50 shutouts 20000 saves 750 games On pace for: 45000 minutes played. ![]() ![]() He has been a stable force for the Tampa Bay Barracuda for the last 8 seasons, and they have had their ups and downs, but one thing that has been consistent is his play in net. A career 3.34 GAA and .900 save percentage is nothing short of fantastic. This season is looking to be his best so far! Season 80 Career Milestones: 200 wins 12000 saves 400 games On pace for: 24000 minutes played. ![]() ![]() He has been a staple between the Pipes for the dynasty days of Los Angeles Panthers. Through most of his career of 10 seasons his name has been synonymous with winning and boasts an impressive 3.31 GAA and .901 save percentage over his SHL lifetime. Season 80 Career Milestones: 20 shutouts 14500 saves 27000 minutes played. On pace for: 300 wins 500 games ![]() ![]() 14 seasons in the SHL is no small feat. Base Pack has given the forge everything and they have responded in kind to help him in his phenomenal career. With a lifetime 3.11 GAA and a save percentage of .899, Pack is the final boss that has stopped a lot of forwards in this league from finding success. Season 80 Career Milestones: 18000 saves 40 shutouts 650 games On pace for: 450 wins 40000 minutes played. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Talk about a long career, 16 seasons so far, and with those 16 seasons Rebecca has been through rebuilds, championships, and a lot of blood sweat and tears as she has worked her way into the history book of the SHL. Helping 3 teams find their way over a career is no small feat and owning a 3.09 GAA and a .896 save percentage is fantastic as well. Season 80 Career Milestones: 500 Wins 22000 Saves 800 games played. On pace for: 55 shutouts 48000 minutes ![]() ![]() We often forget he was called up early into the SHL, and all he has done in his time is play terrific hockey. Starting nearly 2 seasons earlier than most SHL players, Lodge became the face of New Orleans almost immediately. Over his 8-year SHL career he has a 3.19 GAA with a .898 save percentage. Season 80 Milestones: 19000 minutes played. On pace for: 350 games 10000 saves 20 shutouts ![]() ![]() 14 seasons in, but I am not sure we can count his first two seasons as he played a total of 6 games between them. He has been a consistent figure in Texas and team Canada’s net for a long, long time now. He owns a very successful 3.34 GAA and an 8.94 save percentage as he continues his quest to win a cup for Texas. Season 80 Career Milestones: 30 Shutouts 17000 saves 35000 minutes played. 600 games 325 wins ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In 8 seasons Carpet has played for two teams both could be considered a rebuilding roster most of the time he has been a part of them. Even with the rebuilds around him he still managed to put together a very successful career with a lifetime 3.49 GAA and a .898 save percentage. Season 80 Career Milestones: 150 wins 350 games 11000 saves 20000 minutes played. On pace for: 20 shutouts ![]() ![]() At first I wasn’t going to include John, but he has put together 20 seasons of work and even if they are currently playing him in net by taping him to the goal posts (like Goldberg from the Mighty Ducks) to get him through a game, he deserves recognition on a life time achievement of 20 season in the SHL. Oh, and he owns an impressive 3.32 GAA with a .904 save percentage. Please for the love of everything let this poor guy retire! Season 80 Career Milestones Just career milestones: 350 wins 46900 minutes 25000 saves 30 shutouts 800 games played. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Speaking of letting someone please retire 19 seasons in and this living legend is still playing some of his best hockey. Old man time has forced him to slow down a little over the last few seasons, but he is still putting up fantastic numbers this late into his career with a 3.04 GAA and a .903 save percentage. Season 80 Career Milestones: 49900 minutes Career Milestones: 850 games (season 79) 500 wins (season 79 55 Shutouts (season 79) 24000 saves (season 79) Congrats to these living legends, and the hard work you have put into your player and our league. Good luck with the next round of tenders, these are big shoes to fill. ![]() Sig by Lazyeye
