Matthew Leroux is an odd ball when it comes to his offseason training regime as most of what he does is solo work. While he does make sure to hit the rink and get his skating reps in, he lives and breathes at the gym waking up early and hitting the weights while he listens to his music in silence with his headphones on. Usually will visit family or still take vacation but there's never a day off as every hotel and city has a gym. He likes to keep most of his routine solo as there's nobody to rely on to ruin your routine. He will now and then join some teammates for a scrimmage or special training session. There's no better workout than playing the game itself. For the most part he keeps to himself and his family which is just his parents and/or girlfriend which he keeps very quiet about.

I usually train alone because I go to Japan to train in the off-season. Going for many hikes, traveling on the Shinkansen, visiting shrines all over the country. It raelly helps to both train physically by doing work outs but also to also do these mental exercises, bringing me back into the game and fully focused on the next season. I also re-watch all the Addams family movies and TV shows just cause that makes me feel close to my supposed family. I also want to say that I personally pronounce Wednesy as Wednesday. I thought the render would be enough proof for that but I guess not. Working out I usually do a lot of hiking and walks and some skating too obviously, often on natural ice rather than rinks. Going all the way north is great for that and finding some lakes. That is how I work out and it has worked out really well!

Rocky Gislason is still in the early stages of his career. So training in the offseason is a must. He has to continue to work hard to get better in this league. Gislason usually has a personal trainer that does a lot of individual HIIT training that is focused on hockey movements. Most of the time it is just Rocky but some teammates have wanted to check it out so they will join every now and then. After a few weeks Rocky will join in on team training, film studies, and drills. This next part is all about getting the team closer together and build up that chemistry between them all. The film studies and drills help build up the knowledge to be able to recognize what is happening on the ice during a game. Rocky is determined to be at the top of his game both physically and mentally. Rocky is one of the most dedicated players in any form of training. He is willing to do what it takes to be the best. -175 words ![]() Registered Posting Freak
After his first season, Khalfani learned that some of the best moments on the ice are when you go it alone. Yet to be a great even strength scorer means you have to rely on your team and be ready to work together at any point. Take in mind David Corrigan, Khalfani's winger who had a record season on the third line. David and Khalfani worked together to make massive plays that all happened up and down the ice. The two found themselves in the offseason sticking together to practice their chemistry and bonding. It was not uncommon to find the two doing reflex testing or strength training. This meant that some times they even practiced off the ice in different ways to make sure they could be prepared for anything. There were times when they invited the rest of the team along with their training, and even though it was grueling, everyone stuck with the two as they powered through training.

A member od my family that you already know, my brother Anthony who is a superstar goalie in the SHL at the moment. Other than him I have another brother that also play hockey, but not at a level high enough to be with the bests. Still love him and he's our number one fans! We try to bring him as often as we can to our game so he can have the best experience as a fan since he can't get it as a player. Our parents are normal people with normal jobs than had to make some sacrifices so both me and Anthony could play at the highest level. They are not athlete or anything sports related so we had and the loved we needed, but not the «game» help to make us better. They concentrate their energy at making us better person and left the hockey side to our coach and that worked well in the end! ![]() Registered Senior Member

IStir MyPudding generally prefers training alone for things like general fitness. They would much rather hit the gym solo with music going in their headphones. In those settings, they find others a bit of a distraction. So all the conditioning and fitness work is done solo. They also prefer to get a little bit of ice time in solo, but hockey is a team sport and so drills and situations are much more fun with some buddies. It is a little hard to work on your defensive skills without someone to actually defend against, so group training on ice is welcomed. ![]() Registered Posting Freak
Graj loves to work out all offseason, because he never married and wouldn't want to be with how hectic and chaotic the hockey season is. He spends time with his family at least once a month, and his brothers and neices and nephews all love him, as do his parents, who are very proud. But they understand that hockey is everything to Graj, and there isn't anything that can replace it until he physically cannot go on anymore. In this vein, he loves to work out with his teammates and make sure that he learns as much as he can from them while also challenging them to be better and to improve. He likes to train his younger teammates to be excellent player by passing on everything that he knows and making sure they're prepared to take on the task at hand. Graj believes there is a possibility that he can make the Hall on day, and so he is more than ever committed to excellence and ensuring he is the best version of himself every game night.

Another offseason, another trip back to Italy to spend with my family. Of course, this offseason was a bit different compared to seasons passed where I went alone. This offseason I brought my best friend with me. Now you may be asking me, “Who is your best friend?” Well, it is my favorite pup Bagel. Bagel is a Cane Corso who needed their own seat on the plane to fly with me. Once we landed in Italy, Bagel became the talk of the town. Using him as a distraction, I was able to navigate out of the spotlight to get to my parents’ home for some much needed downtime. This would not last long though, my old buds from the Academy showed up looking to play some drop in at the old rink. We arrived at the rink, Bagel in toe wanting some ice time as well. Seeing as the rink was not very busy, we let the pup have his time slipping around on the ice. Sadly, these visits do not last very long. IIHF came calling and I was off back to training. My brief couple weeks of me time was now over. [192] ![]() Registered Senior Member

For Arvinder, hockey isn’t just about skill—it’s about understanding the game on a deeper level. While some players spend the offseason focusing on their physical training, Arvinder takes the opportunity to study strategy, analyze plays, and learn from others. There’s always something new to pick up, whether it’s by watching games, breaking down footage, or talking hockey with coaches and teammates. Rather than training alone, Arvinder enjoys discussing the game with the BattleBorn JFK Fancey and former defensive partner Hip Hurts. Everyone has different perspectives, and hearing new ideas helps develop a better understanding of the sport. While some players push themselves through tough training camps, Arvinder focuses on improving hockey IQ and decision-making, knowing that the mental side of the game is just as important as the physical. The offseason is a chance to grow, reflect, and come back stronger—whether that means skating faster, making better plays, or just seeing the ice more clearly. At the end of the day, hockey is always a learning process, and every offseason is another chance to improve. ![]() Registered Member

After being drafted to New England, William Marshal hired a power skating coach to make sure he wouldn't get completely dusted at training camp. With a little more confidence in his skating and ability to stay in position, Marshal impressed at training camp but was quickly sent down to the Vancouver Whalers as expected. With Vancouver coaches help there has been a focus on reshaping his game into a dynamic two way/power forward. The Whalers have been very interactive with the public this offseason, hosting practices open to the public, scheduling outdoor practices, and building hype for the upcoming season. During these practices, the Whalers have been heavily emphasizing scrimmages and game speed situations to get the young group and crop of rookies ready for the preseason. The workload is grueling, but the fast paced and aggressive scrimmages please the crowd and really have generated a sense of excitement and celebrity around this Whalers team before they've even played a game. |
