Reporter: Thank you for sitting down with us today! We want to hear your thoughts about this upcoming season with the Vancouver Whalers. What do you think this team is capable of this season?

Hans Gronlund: Thank you for having me! This season is going to be an important one for Vancouver, that much is guaranteed. Vancouver has drafted extremely well, adding to the core of myself, Noxus, Mulder, and Mackenzie with fantastic players in Volkova, Primeau, First, Cheddar, Frappé, Leroux, Cartier in our amazing season 80 draft, and compounded it even more so with Passarelli and Williams in season 81. On top of all these fantastic draft picks, the team has made some amazing trades and waiver claims in Marshal, Wad, Yakimo, and Roan. I truly believe that this season will show what the pay off looks like for Vancouver, and I know we will see a large jump in our position in the standings.

R: It is true that the team has made quite a few additions. How much growth can we expect from the players this season?

HG: Oh, you will see major jumps from everyone this season, absolutely. The team has been training extremely hard all off season, and I know that each player has made quite a substantial leap in their own abilities. I am also excited to see the growth of our new rookie players as well, they will all take big leaps during the season and finish strong, this I am sure of.

R: Final question as I know you are busy with your conditioning, will we see the Whalers play further into the playoffs this season?

HG: I believe that this season, we will make a bigger push for a Challenge Cup. The playoffs are always unpredictable, but we see no reason why this team would be incapable of contending for a championship.

R: Thank you, and good luck to you this season!

HG: Thank you as well, I hope to be returning to Norway this off season with a championship to share with you all!

Written Option 2: At the beginning of the season your player gives in depth interview with a reporter who they are familiar with at their home. The reporter is mostly interested in hearing your players thoughts on this upcoming season but will let your player to steer the conversation to any topics they would like to talk about. So what does your player talk about? Is it mostly about this upcoming season or do they want to talk about their career as a whole? And do they talk only about hockey or does your player also share more personal things? You can either describe the interview, its tone and topics, how it will be received by public, write a quote or two that would make rounds on social media or write the whole interview if you want to.
Oskar and San Francisco Pride are on the verge of doing something no team has ever done and win 3 cups in a row. There have been multiple teams that have won back to back, but the illusive 3-peat has never been achieved. While it's still (very) early in the season it's only natural that the topic would come up and Oskar responded to it as pretty much every athlete in existence does. "We're going to take it one game at a time and put ourselves in the best position to win another cup. When the season starts we're all back to square one. It doesn't matter if you won last year so we need to go out and prove we can win it again". Once the interviewer knew they weren't going to get much more they asked Oskar about his off-season with his family back in Germany and he opened up with multiple lovely stories.

Written Option 2

Prpich LOVES to talk about hockey, so he would be more than happy to talk about that for the entire interview. However, he also LOVES taco trucks. To start off, Adam would be more than happy to do the standard interview. Talk about expectations for the upcoming season, new additions to the team, new challenges presented by the ever-changing landscape of the SHL. I'm sure he'd also be pressed on his future, and how much longer he plans to play, and his plans for his post-hockey life. Once the topic of what he plans to do after hockey comes up, he'd get very excited to talk about his second love: food. More specifically, tacos and taco trucks. Since moving to LA, he has fallen in love with all the incredible food around every corner. He'd be especially excited to hype up one of his favorite things on the planet: the al pastor tacos from Leo's Taco Truck. It would be equal parts genuine love for their tacos, and hope they would give him free tacos for shouting them out.

Option 2

As many might know, Kevin had made the hard decision to move from Minnesota to Tampa Bay. And with that there are many new challenges and opportunities that linger. Especially as Kevin had now changed his position from center to a right winger, Kevin had many topics to talk about the offseason and the many other things as a new member of the Barracuda. As the interviewer asked him about his future, Kevin stated that his future looks bright, as his main goal was to win the cup, being a part of a very powerful team made Kevin eager to perform in the years to come. His main goal for this season is to win the cup, but also, with the preseason coming to an end and the regular season starting, Kevin really wants to pass his points record in the Monarchs, as he thinks it is very doable. 100 points in any of the following seasons would be the ultimate regular season goal.

Written Option 2:

Barcus Juneau doesn't easily open himself up to the media. Unless it involves him skating around on the rink with a stick and puck, Juneau is not always comfortable in the spotlight. But with his final J season just about to start, Juneau sat down with the local Armada beat reporter to discuss the coming campaign.

The interview was a wide-ranging look at Barcus's time in Anchorage, from his first shock of the cold and the beauty of the area mountains to last season's second consecutive elimination in the conference finals. Over the course of the interview Barcus comes back to two themes that define his time in Anchorage: accountability and leadership.

"Everything you do out there matters," said Juneau in a particularly pensive moment. "Your D partner is counting on you. Your team is counting on you. Even the whole city, in some ways, is counting on you. How you approach each and every moment of the day, on-ice and off-ice, is a way to affect the world around you."

Next season will be a different city, different teammates, and different circumstances, but Juneau is looking forward to making the most of this one last season in Anchorage.

Written Option 2:

Rocky Gislason invites Reporter Dennis Reynolds over to his condo in Denver, Colorado. The interview starts out by talking about the Colorado Raptors upcoming season. Rocky loves talking about all things Colorado. He loves this team. So he starts by saying that the preseason that Colorado had was in no way an indication of how the season would go. Colorado ended the preseason with 0 wins, 6 losses, and 1 overtime loss to go along with only scoring 9 goals and a -19. Rocky was admant that this was all planned. Gislason and his teammates used those games as a way to test out new positions and playing styles. Obvioulsy it was a lot all at once so it did not have the winning outcome that most seek. But Rocky told Dennis, "Let teams sleep on Colorado, and watch what happens." Rocky was so passionate talking about the team. He soon started talking about how honored he is to be able to be the Captain, which was selected by his teammates. He does not take it lightly and wants to be the leader that the team needs and deserves. Thats why he is it everything he has, whether its in training, practice, film sessions, or in games. He wants to lead by example. He wants to do everything right and hopes to be a player that others look up to and will follow. Rocky mentioned his idol growing up "Steve Yzerman is the player and person I looked up to growing up and if I can be even close to him then I will be happy"

Peyton McLazy will take one for the team and embarrass himself so bad that the refs won't be able to pay attention to their job. He will begin to do the worm in centre ice. He will then begin to do more dances and try to get the crowd going with him and even encourage teams to join in to maximize the distraction on the refs. If this somehow does not work Peyton McLazy will resort to chirping the opposing team to keep the refs on their toes ready to stop a fight. If absolutely needed he will take the fighting major to ensure his coach has enough time and he will go out of his way to make the fight last as long as possible. His thought process is that the refs are already blind enough with not making the right calls surely they won't notice his wrong doing in dragging the review.

Jack Ellul swings by the bench. This is his third season now with the Walleye and the first as assistant captain. He is breathing hard having fought in front of the net on the last play. All that effort, all that work... just to have the puck go in the back of the net. Jack hated getting scored on. Absolutely hated it. "We want to review that! We think it was offside" Jack looks up at the bench. Right. He thinks to himself. We need time... they are going to drop the puck any moment now. He skates towards the opposing bench, bumping into a player just as they come over the board.

It isn't a big mix up. It only takes about fifteen to twenty seconds to sort out but it is enough. The Walleye coaching staff have called for the review. Jack sits down on the bench looking up at the jumbo-tron to confirm what he wants to believe.

Throughout his professional and junior careers, Rence Sykut has been a reluctant participant in most media related activities. He is generally known to be an introverted person and has never felt comfortable in front of the camera outside the scope of his on ice play. This is in direct contrast to his on ice personality where his play and celebrations are some of the loudest on the ice. The few times he does sit down with the media, he often steers the conversation to his interests outside of hockey. He has been known to talk about his love for electronic dance music or "oontz oontz" music as he calls it. Furthermore, he often expresses his love for Eastern European cuisine, particularly from his homeland of Latvia. When the conversation does get directed back toward to hockey, Rence is reluctant to talk about himself or his own accolades. However, he is the first to pump the tires of the achievements of his team and teammates rather than drawing attention to himself.

Option 1: Coach told me we need to delay the restart again, so im going to do what i always do - quickly deliver that message to my good buddy in the crease, Base Pack. Nothing slows down restarts in hockey like some kind of goalie equipment malfunction. We dont use this trick often enough for it to have been addressed by the league in any way, i.e. no unsportsmanlike or delay of game penalty, so we always go back to the well. Base pack will remove his helmet and drop to his knees, fiddling with a strap on the back of his leg pads. This accomplishes a couple of things - for the team it buys the coaches time to make the challenge decision. For Base Pack himself it puts doubt into the fans mind on if maybe there was an equipment issue at fault for the goal, and a legendary player like him gets the benefit of the doubt a little for having been beaten on this occasion. So i guess what i do in this situaiton is cause a commotion elsewhere on the ice, with my best masked buddy, to ensure the team has the time they need to make an informed decision.

To say the least, I'm very disappointed to not even be the first goalie off the board. Here I thought people would want the proven guy who runs the sim.

On the bright side...

In true Nuck fashion, Will would try his best to steer the interview around his teammates, his coaches and management. It takes a lot of moving parts to make a good hockey team and Will knows this and takes every chance he gets to remind his fans of the behind the scene effort and work that has gone into making their favorite sport so exciting and enjoyable. Most of Nuck's interviews start out fishing for information on him as a person or as a player but Will always without fail brings to reporters back to talking about those around him. He has even been known to talk about the beer venders over his own achievements or highlights. Just so happens that recently Will had won the coveted Stevens award and in the interview proceeding the SHL award ceremony, Will spent most of it thanking the Zamboni drivers from all the teams in the league.
