S80 SHL Awards Poll Results

Hello SHL! I hope everyone enjoyed the Awards Presentation this season! Big shout outs once more to @Ara and @Kami1931 for hosting the show again! Also, a big congratulations to the award winners! The committee once again had many tough decisions to make, and we anticipate more tough decisions this upcoming season!

It’s time again to dig deep into the results of the poll for this season's batch of nominees and award winners! Everyone seemed to enjoy reading through last seasons post so I am looking forward to providing you all with the reasonings behind the winners once again!

Similar to last season, I would like to once again provide you all with the rules for the ballots:

When you vote, we give our top 3 for each award.

For each ballot the points are set up like this:
First Place Ballot = 5pts
Second Place Ballot = 3pts
Third Place Ballot = 1pt

Which means the order the players place does matter!
We then tally up the scores from the voters and see where we stand.

If there is a tie after points have been tallied, nominees will be eliminated based on the following, in order:
Least number of first place votes
Least number of first + second place votes

So, with that out of the way, let’s have a look at the nominees, the poll results and how the committee came to their decisions!

John McBride - Best Goaltender

We had three top nominated goaltenders this season. Here the the three on the ballot:

Justin Time

[Image: AD_4nXfJBHCWPZtfm-Bp7q6AyFkgqvLEzukm5_2P...vhX3nuZmpF]

Stun Gun

[Image: AD_4nXdo9SCElZrOHv0erbii_ba4DqecQWr7FcVZ...vhX3nuZmpF]

Anastasia Soderstrom

[Image: AD_4nXfExawQt5e7xYEr11bnPEaG9qD4XSZnaxU0...vhX3nuZmpF]

Here is how the voting went for the John McBride:

[Image: AD_4nXd6vwjZOwbCRsMxID0hzxRgYalTqzjk0xpn...vhX3nuZmpF]
Justin Time                0 - 7 - 3 = 24
Stun Gun                   3 - 3 - 4 = 28
Anastasia Soderstrom 7 - 0 - 3 = 38

Here is what the committee had to say about the nominees:

This one was actually pretty easy, in my opinion. Anastasia's GSAA was a whopping 9 points higher than the next closest competitor, and her save percent of .908 was the highest for a starter. More shutouts would have been nice, but Anastasia dragged Calgary to a good playoff spot in a tough Pacific with amazing play.

Soderstrom had a phenomenal season in net for the rising Dragons team. With the league's best save percentage among starters, she minimized the impact of facing a high volume of shots to keep her defense in the game and allow her team to win games. While well shy of the GAA of Gun or Time, there's no questioning Soderstrom's impact and ability to elevate her team to success.

As impressive as a season Anastasia had, Justin and Stun are a cut above her that's why she only ends up third on my list. Between Justin and Stun, it's very close for me but I feel Stun just about edges Justin on stats, especially if we take into account that Stun even played fewer games.

Anastsia Soderstrom: first in save percentage, first in all goals saved above advanced stats (GSAR, GSAR/G, GSAR/x100, GSAA, GSAA/G, GSAA/sx100, GSA75, GSA75/G, GSA75/s x100) which is absolutely incredible. I think she is the front runner. Calgary was also not a top team so goalie stats were not inflated by a good team.

The Stun Gun absolutely dominated the league this season, showcasing their strength through a combination of offensive firepower and a robust defensive foundation. Their impressive performance was a testament to their well-rounded team play, evident in their league-leading win total and their strong second-place finish in Goals Saved. This demonstrates a commitment to both scoring goals and preventing them, a crucial aspect of any successful team.

41 wins in 51 appearances, a 2.80 GAA, and a .907 sv% give my edge to Stun Gun. The goalie race was INCREDIBILY close this season, but Stun Gun managed to put up fantastic numbers and made the difference for Atlanta this season. They managed to drastically improve their numbers from last season, and in only their second season as a starter in the SHL, Stun Gun has certainly electrified the goaltending elite and the league as a whole.

Anastasia had an amazing season. She led all other goalies by wide margin in GSAA and led all goalies in save percentage.

Soderstrom appearing on the top of the leaderboard in GSAA is pretty impressive and indicates her contribution when her team was actually not that bad. A lot of the time you see goalies pad their stats if they're on a garbage team, but Soderstrom was on a solid team *and* seemed to contribute mightily to that team being solid.

Congratulations once again to Anastasia Soderstrom on a fantastic season and winning the John McBride award!

Scott Stevens - Best Defender

Next up is the Scott Stevens! Before posting the cards for our three nominated players, a shout out to Toasty and Cale Salad who were just short of the top nominated players! Let’s have a look at those players shall we?

Elena Maximova

[Image: AD_4nXeVTG-okj5SMPNtUIah6Al6zZuqaDJzL5Gk...vhX3nuZmpF]

Will Nuck

[Image: AD_4nXei_ywqs3AP1KkB_h5GSKxqqcH9d2ReTrbU...vhX3nuZmpF]

Georg N’Zola

[Image: AD_4nXdpK28fTdYNGV2111Zt0-5Rji37c2Bc0UG3...vhX3nuZmpF]

Here’s a look at the ballot results for the Scott Stevens:

[Image: AD_4nXeI9NP_qg20JcX_SPNaaHsqxpm2SuxyTnPr...vhX3nuZmpF]
Elena Maximova         5 - 2 - 3 = 34
Will Nuck                   4 - 6 - 0 = 38
Georg N'Zola               1 - 2 - 7= 18

This one had some various thoughts! Here are those thoughts from your committee:

Will Nuck was a shining star on a lackluster Hamilton squad. He led all defensemen in points, tied for the goal scoring lead among defenders and was among the top defenders in many other categories. He did this while playing on a team that struggled this season.

Nuck led the team in production. Of course he's an Offensive Defensemen but he put up more impressive stats of the three.

From the three of them Elena seems to be the most impressive for me. Sure thing she is not the best offensively out of the three but for me a defensemen should be both about attack and defense, and in defense Elena takes the first spot for me while offensively being close enough to earn the overall first place.

This award is a case of being very good at lots of things, and not exactly the best at any one individual thing. In a season where LA struggled more than expected, Elena Maximova was a consistent bright spot, being one of the highest scoring defenders in the league, with one of the highest amounts of takeaways, providing lots of time on both power play and penalty kill, and improving her team in goals and shoats against while on the ice.

As always, I like my Stevens candidates to hold their own on both offense and defense, and Maximova continues to excel at both. She didn't have quite the points that Nuck did, but her defense was significantly better, with fewer giveaways and 20 fewer penalty minutes than Nuck (and over 40 less PIM than N'Zola, which is the biggest knock against him to me). It's clear she carried LAP through their struggles in the middle of the season, and is one of the reasons they bounced back near the end.

Elena continued to build on their stellar career, putting up 57 points and 18 goals to help bolster an already lethal offense in the City of Angels. But what makes Elena's season a cut above the rest is that they also brought it on defense. Logging 24 minutes a night, and 3:16 on the PK per game, Elena was HEAVILY relied upon to anchor the defense and offense in L.A, and once again showed just how talented they are at all facets of the game.

Will Nuck: most points amongst defensemen, tied for most goals, had the second most takeaways and most takeaways per 60. Also had very strong corsi against/60 numbers even though Hamilton was not a great team. It’s even more impressive Nuck had these stats on a lackluster offensive team this season.

A rare blend of scoring and strong defense, N'Zola picked apart opposing defenses all season long for the Inferno, leading the team's top powerplay unit and still posting solid all-around defensive numbers. There's just no weakness to his game, and that's a big part of why Atlanta topped the league this season.

As you can see the voting placement really does matter when votes are counted for! A big congratulations to Will Nuck on winning the Stevens this season!

Bojo Biscuit - Best Defensive Defender

Next up we have the elusive Bojo Biscuit award! A lot of names came up for this award but three of them came up the most! Here’s a quick shoutout to the ones who didn’t quite make it to the official ballot:
Niclas Sundqvist, Rasmus Bergling, Elena Maximova, Antonio Flusso, Nash Topalo, John Peanut, Phillippe-Eko Eel, Filip Lund and finally, Jaden Tanner.

Now here are your top three nominees:

Mikkel Enevoldsen

[Image: AD_4nXcaNxz8hZnwhPTUKx3AXdEB71KOujzNQoPL...vhX3nuZmpF]

Toasty

[Image: AD_4nXfAlrMSSDRUUZHT5YYSUFAIE5d2VIeHvBBr...vhX3nuZmpF]

Kristian Seppanen

[Image: AD_4nXe2CetxHziDeEOrDwFqf6EWQqrd827RwZ3p...vhX3nuZmpF]

And here are the ballot results:
[Image: AD_4nXeHSRCQYlbPbE7stKkn1-3ufoTFhVDhjGmK...vhX3nuZmpF]
Mikkel Enevoldsen            3 - 6 - 1 = 34
Toasty                            3 - 2 - 5 = 26
Kristian Seppanen            4 - 2 - 4 = 30

Once again, here is what the committee had to say about this close one!

Mikkel Enevoldsen excelled defensively this season. With an incredible 8.29 TA/GA ratio, and one of the league's lowest giveaway rates, his play ensured that NOLA would have the puck at all times, which was a big part of why he was trusted as the team's top PK defender. Placing will above average in every defensive stat, he was a clear leader for the Bojo this season.

Toasty: he had incredible defensive stats having the best Sf/60, one of the best TA/GA ratios with 54/7, one of the best GA/60 ratio with 2.5 and SA/60 with 27.5. His corsi and fenwick numbers are also in the 90th percentile.

3:39 a night shorthanded, 50 takeaways, 317 blocked shots, and a GA/60 of 2.3 show how defensive minded Kristian Seppanen is. A huge reason why Atlanta is so strong defensively, and another strong season on defense from Seppanen

Seppanen is the only one of my nominees who made the ballot here, so he's getting my vote. His goals against and shots against numbers are outstanding on his team and league wide, and he blocked FAR more shots than either of the other candidates here.

I firmly believe Mikkel Enevoldsen's defense was a major contributor to NOLA winning their division this season. A GA/TA ratio of 8/29 is huge, and they didn't shy away from playing special teams, either. It certainly doesn't hurt that most of their hits seemed to lead to takeaways, either.

I'm honestly impressed with all three of them and could argue for all three to win it one way or another. But for me Kristian just about edges out the rest with how many shots he has blocked and how much more short-handed time he has spent on the ice. Which gives me the impression that he has been crucial for their team defensively.

Toasty produced without being a detriment to the team.

Mikkel had the best overall defensive stats line. Playing a lot of minutes short handed he had one of the best goals against and shots against in the league while maintaining one of the best give away/take away ratios, some of the best shots blocked. This was close, but his overall game stood out.

We are once again seeing the importance of the order players are being placed! A very close vote but a big congratulations to Mikkel Enevoldsen!

Jeff Dar - Best Two Way Forward
Speaking of elusive awards, here’s another one for you! The Dar continues to be one of the most difficult awards to win and this season the committee was faced with a few options! Here are some of those players on the short list:

Derek Martin, Tom Pederson, Rikkert Biemans, Sunrise Van de Schubbekutteveen and Outdoor Truck.

We had to vote on five players for this award this season! This is a messy one but first off let’s have a look at the nominees:

Jiggle E. Puff

[Image: AD_4nXflVzqemrbCHJGyp9LzTxL2X3I58BOMCSW4...vhX3nuZmpF]

Viktor Hargreeves

[Image: AD_4nXeoCRrrXlEjfKTQ6K-QskG_pGOiMja9taxF...vhX3nuZmpF]

Luca Pane

[Image: AD_4nXe7Mg3uD-yhzqp12EtctyurnP64MpGA4PhC...vhX3nuZmpF]

Levin Schattenaxt

[Image: AD_4nXcO7fwfJZgf8S9JqykpgtKoJP_2GCjbEnUO...vhX3nuZmpF]

Froya Solberg

[Image: AD_4nXctrRi2xGJ36zM5sWqaIPx_ss57PTnz2aGN...vhX3nuZmpF]

You may have noticed that two of these names did not show up on the nominations post. Well, we usually have only 3 show up on the post so we took away the two with the shortest tallies, Viktor Hargreeves and Luca Pane. Now to the fun bit!

[Image: AD_4nXeI0UgO63ht-C_oOidvsJkcVvaXO7cNRrOe...vhX3nuZmpF]
Now before I get into the committee’s comments, I need to explain these results as they will be questioned even though the rules are up above but everyone probably skipped over them! Here Here’s how things were tallied up:

Jiggle E. Puff               1-3(15) 2-1(3) 3-1(1) = 19
Viktor Hargreeves         1-2(10) 2-1(3) 3-2(2) = 15
Luca Pane                     1-2(10) 2-1(3) 3-2(2) = 15
Levin Schattenaxt         1-2(10) 2-3(9) 3-1(1) = 20
Froya Solberg               1-1(5) 2-4(12) 3-3(3) = 20

I’m leaving my extra numbers in the tally so it’s easier to read. Maybe I should be doing it this way for all of them! As you can see, Jiggle E. Puff, Levin Schattenaxt and Froya Solberg were all very very close in voting. So here is how we decide that Schattenaxt is the winner. Levin and Froya are the two highest votes for players in terms of ballot scoring. Being tied at 20, we follow the tie breaking rules which are as follows:

If there is a tie after points have been tallied, nominees will be eliminated based on the following, in order:
  1. Least number of first place votes
  2. Least number of first + second place votes

Given those rules, Levin received more first place votes than Froya therefore they are the winner!

With that out of the way, let’s see what the committee members had to say about their votes:

This was another tough one. Any of the top 4 have good arguments, but for my money, Froya Solberg put it all together the best. She had better offensive stats than Hargreeves or Schattenaxt, with more points even on less shots/60, and better total defense than Puff, with one of the best GA/TA ratios among forwards this season.

Levin Schattenaxt is the definition of a "do it all" player, and one with no visible weakness. He contributed to a quarter of his team's points, on an offense that rated near the top of the league, but he also excelled at minimizing opportunities for the opposition, placing in the top 10% of all SHL forwards in hits, goals against and shots against, with a massive .39 GA/60 lead on his league-best team defense. Levin was also a special teams expert on both sides of the ice, playing on the top powerplay and penalty kill lines as the ultimate two-way player.

For me Jiggle and Levin are a cut above the rest so it's between those two for the first place. And between them, they have similar defensive stats while Jiggle absolutely takes first place offensively. The fact Jiggle managed to put up such defensive numbers with the offensive numbers they have is pretty damn impressive to me. Out of the three remaining I feel Froya had a pretty decent all-around season and while Viktor and Luca lack some stats Froya has it all, not quite enough to challenge Jiggle or Levin but enough to secure third place.

Luca Pane: 88 points but also had some of the best corsi against/60 and fenwick against/60 numbers in the league. He also had 58 shots blocked and solid GA/60 and SA/60 being in the top quarter of the league on an okay NOLA team.

Honestly, I'm starting to get why people hate on SFP. Not only is the core incredible, but they're anchored by a two-way monster in Levin Schattenaxt. On top of an astounding 78 points and 27 goals, Levin was tasked with being the Pride's #1 defensive forward. Logging 3:20 on the PK this season and boasting an incredible 2.5 GA/60, Levin was consistently relied upon to bring it on both sides of the ice, and SFP continues to be all the better for it

When we speak of a two-way forward Jiggle E. Puff stood out. Third in points league wide this year. Followed up with the top percentage in the league with blocked shots, shots against per 60 and goals against per 60. Puff excelled in both areas of the game.

Well, none of my nominees for this award made the ballot, so this one is hard for me. I think Puff has been my favorite for this award before, though, and I'm going to lean towards him for this season as well because he continues to excel on both ends of the ice and also contributes heavily to both the PP and the PK for Atlanta.

Once again, congratulations to Levin Schattenaxt on winning the Dar this season!

Ryan Jesster - Best Rookie

Now onto the Rookie of the year! A quick nod to one Rookie, Nor Ge, who did not make it to the ballot! Let’s have a good look at the top three nominated rookies this season:

Roquefort Cotswald

[Image: AD_4nXfWXi0DlAu2Ram5nqkj_vYD_hBv3jJ0jdVw...vhX3nuZmpF]

Evil Kyle Murray

[Image: AD_4nXfpz0cktL24v8_tBDY8SCWx8byxbTbaFk3v...vhX3nuZmpF]

Yuri Boyka III

[Image: AD_4nXd_byrOVTy24S7nAXeh3fuxRZ7_KTddgdUs...vhX3nuZmpF]

Here is how the voting went for the Jesster:

[Image: AD_4nXfcvD8RNDyQihlkLZuH5UaC5Joj-GAdnJB0...vhX3nuZmpF]
Roquefort Cotswald          6 - 2 - 2 = 38
Evil Kyle Murray               4 - 3 - 3 = 32
Yuri Boyka III                  0 - 5 - 5 = 20

Here is what the committee had to say about the rookies:

I hate it when all three of my nominees make the final ballot, it makes it so hard for me to narrow things down! I think that carrying as much of the goalie load as a rookie goalie as Murray did is pretty impressive, and speaks to how much he was able to contribute to the team in his first season on the squad.

All three had amazing rookie seasons it is exciting to see what is next for these young stars. I gave the edge to Roquefort he stood out in his overall game when you compared his stats line to veterans of the league and made a big difference to his team.

The rookie race this season was close, as multiple players pushed to show why they deserved to be in the league. But it was Evil Kyle Murray that stood above (at least to me). Shouldering the starting position in your first season is always a tough one, but Evil Kyle Murray showed that Baltimore's faith was well placed, logging a .900 sv% and a 3.56 GAA on a Platoon team looking to find their form with an aging core, and they're going to be backstopped by one of the next great SHL goalies.

Roquefort Cotswold: was the best rookie defenseman in my opinion putting up over 120+ shots blocked, 75 hits, 28 points and had respectable corsi and fenwick numbers and was in the 90% range for Hits/60 and surpassed his team average in a lot of stats.

Since we are talking about 3 completely different postions here, I tried to look at which player had the most impact on their team and for me that was Evil Kyle Murray. He has put up quite impressive numbers, especially for a rookie. If anything he was more or less keeping up with Justin Time who was the best goaltender last season and that's more than impressive to me. Between Yuri and Roquefort, I feel like Roquefort had more impact on their team.

It's rare for a rookie defender to make an impact right away, but Cotswold not only held the blue line for a young and rising Seattle team, he made an impact on both special teams units as well. His modest point share is incredible for a rookie defensive defenseman, and he made the most of his solid share of ice time to prove he'll be a mainstay for the Argonauts for a long time to come.

This is a very difficult choice, mostly between Roquefort and EKM. Neither plays the typical forward role you see getting lots of accolades, but both did very well with what they had. In the end, I gave my nod to Roquefort after much internal debate, due in part to Seattle's performance this season, which Roquefort certainly contributed too, having less goals against when on the ice than the team average, as well as fairly hits, takeaways, and points for a rookie defender.

Congratulations once again to Roquefort Cotswald on winning this season’s rookie of the year award!

Aidan Richan - Most improved Player

Now we move onto the most improved player of the year! We had three others who didn‘t quite make the cut to final voting. A special shout out to these improved players:
Stun Gun, Anastasia Soderstrom and FITTED PRIMETIME99 CUDDLES

Here are the details on your top three nominated players:

Jae-Ik Barron

[Image: AD_4nXdStWEbS4EfTWnZ4YY-wSwMMAbtkRigeanD...vhX3nuZmpF]

Violet Stoica

[Image: AD_4nXfIsKLVOa_1BBQRIvEfpLkNt1b3-Bqagbg0...vhX3nuZmpF]

Will Nuck

[Image: AD_4nXfITn3gI-nNiST3ne5EMgV6d6sfB30pJnu9...vhX3nuZmpF]

Here is how the voting went:
(sorry Violet for butchering your name in the poll)

[Image: AD_4nXfz_QXjuCOiYJ-07nNawVi3aXuUn-4vHkrI...vhX3nuZmpF]
Jae-Ik Barron            8 - 2 - 0 = 46
Violet Stoica              2 - 5 - 3 = 28
Will Nuck                   0 - 3 - 7 = 16

Here is what the committee had to say to support their votes:

I'm quite a bit torn between Jae-Ik and Violet as both have impressed me quite a bit with their improvement but I feel Violet just about edges Jae-Ik out because Violet seemed to improve in pretty much every stat while Jae-Ik has a few "slip-ups"

Jae-ik Barron: breaking out to be a Mexico front runner +30 goals, +12 assists, +42 points, +48 rating, -11 PIMS, +22 giveaways, -5 takeaways, +1.8 GF/60, -.7 GA/6

Barron had probably one of the best seasons ever? On a team that finished tenth to a team that finished first. Obviously it's not just him but this dude has popped off and a big reason ATL took off.

79 points to 121, almost doubled their goals, and a statistical improvement in EVERY counting stat gave the edge to Jae-Ik here. A superstar was born this season

All three had large jumps in points and overall performance. But Jae-Ik stands out as the jump for 80 - 120 is something few have accomplished.

Going from "not even in the conversation" to actual Mexico candidate is incredibly impressive to me - the other two candidates here also improved a lot, but Barron absolutely exploded offensively this season, with, and I cannot stress this enough, *only* an increase of about ten seconds of PP time, and significantly more usage on the PK. They also did this while bringing their penalty minutes down, and blocking more shots.

What else is there to say? Jae-Ik Barron's rapid rise, having the biggest jump in points of any player in the league while also reigning in the PiMs, led Atlanta to the most points in the league. He deserves his recognition here.

This is a very close race, but Stoica takes the lead here by virtue of doing more with less compared to Barron. With less ice time and a larger focus on even strength, her near-equal improvement stands out as one of the league's best development efforts over the last season.

And another big congratulations to Jae-Ik Barron on winning the Aidan Richan this season!

Lance Uppercut - Top GM
Forget about the players. It’s time to talk about the GMs that run the teams. There were plenty of teams that were short on nominations but here are a few teams that the committee did talk about that didn’t make the top three:

Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Manhattan, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Seattle.

Now onto the top three nominated teams this season!

ATL

[Image: AD_4nXfEGY23hYvzbCmWDcE9wM5zHkyKknjAbrZv...vhX3nuZmpF]

NOLA

[Image: AD_4nXfWBAijXr38-mIE8E3v1uddQoZqZxg3Isi6...vhX3nuZmpF]

LAP

[Image: AD_4nXfSACgmns0mJ5LYC8gM8LBMJkSob9-b7r-2...vhX3nuZmpF]

And here is how the ballots came out:

[Image: AD_4nXdEqp8z_043sZRSbAxvunpAA3pe8iAOr0Tq...vhX3nuZmpF]
Atlanta Inferno                8 - 1 - 0 = 43
New Orleans Spectres      0 - 5 - 5 = 20
Los Angeles Panthers       1 - 4 - 5 = 22

Here is what the committee had to say about their votes!

ATL's moves recently have coalesced into a team that came out hot and stayed that way. They look to threaten for seasons yet, but they never even really had to do a full rebuild, just a rearm, and that makes them my top GMs this season.

I feel like this season have shown that Atlanta got some pretty good GMs as they have been building for a while now and this season seems to show that it is paying off. And it's probably only a matter of time for them to be considered serious contenders if someone is not considering them to be already.

10th to 1st. The only 50 win team of the season. Self explanatory

Atlanta's increase in appearances on this ballot with pure homegrown talent speaks to their drafting strategy, and that long-term strategy really paid off for them this season. A league championship and awards nominations (with a particular eye at the repeat appearances in the Richan nominations, which to me really shows how they know how to develop players over time).

Atlanta's dominant season can be traced back to a rich history of drafting and developing players. They've been on an upward trajectory for a long time, and the rise to a President's Trophy finish should come as no surprise to anyone who's followed the growth of the team.

Los Angeles Panthers: made a huge trade for Physt and overall has built a stacked team.

Great drafting over the last 5 seasons have produced some amazing current players, the trade for Georg N'Zola anchored this teams defense allowing them to go from a playoff team to president's trophy winner and cup contender.

Another big congratulations to the Atlanta Inferno on winning the Lance Uppercut this season!

Joe McKeil - Best Coach

Now we move on to the coaching staff! We had one team not quite make the cut to the final ballot so a special shout out to the coaching staff in Manhatten!

Here are your three nominees for the Joe McKeil!

BUF

[Image: AD_4nXcUH4OEWIIoWsnZpsjKymxRBTRUF3rQzv07...vhX3nuZmpF]

NOLA

[Image: AD_4nXfOUXePXv4GpIc0NmPqgA6qdUfTvHwNeqwh...vhX3nuZmpF]

ATL

[Image: AD_4nXcGFiFhM5eXIsTu8blgql_dx8cs0ugvZa1s...vhX3nuZmpF]

And here are the ballot results:

[Image: AD_4nXeJqZhLG8JeQAeHHj29BM9n4W1vUDqrQjsr...vhX3nuZmpF]
BUF          4 - 3 - 3 = 32
NOLA        3 - 4 - 3 = 30
ATL           3 - 3 - 4 = 28

Closer than you thought? Here is what the committee had to say about their votes!

NOLA struggled earlier in the season. They made adjustments to their lineup and found a system that really worked for their roster. They went from a struggling team with a negative goal differential to a division winner with a +53 goal differential.

Buffalo Stampede: They are in the league basement TPE wise 16th and yet found a way to finish 4th in the league

Atlanta built the team and they figured out how to coach it - carrying a young squad higher in the standings, I think, than many people expected them to.

I've been the most impressed with the Atlanta coaches, as they were a cut above the rest during the regular season, pretty much dominating the standings. While their playoff didn't quite go as well as they were probably hoping, the fact they lost out to the eventual finalist makes their loss a little more "acceptable".

Somewhat surprisingly, I'm going with BUF. They had arguably one of the worst teams in the league by most metrics, but managed to secure 4th in the league anyways. How? Well, good coaching. Getting everything they could out of every player, making every game a fight, and finding ways to pull out wins. Exactly what a good coach should do.

Congratulations once again to the Buffalo Stampede!

Damien Littleton - Most dedicated User

This is always a tough award to hand out to just one user. We may see changes in the future for the littleton but for now we have continued as normal and are awarding the Damien Littleton to one sole user!

Lots of love to spread out here! Here is what the committee had to say about all these lovely people!

Jimmy has done a lot of work that isn't always seen for the sim team, and while it's had some bumps, without his efforts there likely wouldn't have been much of anything left for HO to rebuild the sim team with.

Frenchie is everywhere. Jesus Christ.

Stepping up to help fill in the void in head office. Helping maintain different areas of the league. Always supporting new and experienced members.

Jimmy's work with the sim team has been absolutely invaluable. While he's a GM himself and not able to completely head the team, he has done everything but - showing up when questions are asked, scheduling, and helping the sim team run smoother than it has in many seasons. I cannot say enough about how much better things have been for the work he's put in.

The decision on the littleton is never easy to pick just one. We’ve been trying to rework this one a bit more so stay tuned for changes. One award per season is really not enough for all the incredible people in this community. Congrats to all of the nominees and the winner JimmySmo!

Luke Thomason - Lifetime Achievement Award
This is an award that was renamed a couple seasons ago and named after and awarded to our beloved @luke The Luke Thomason award is awarded to those who have made many or completed large accomplishments in the league during their time with the community! This award was renamed to the Luke Thomason as Luke is the perfect example of what this award stands for. Creating and developing tools to help maintain and manage the site and the game. Interactive and welcoming to new users and old users who may have any questions related to how things work. Quick to action and ask about any potential issues. Luke has also recently helped re design the card site for the better in addition to adding STHS data to the index. Always showing interest in preserving league history and better ways to maintain it! So, thank you Luke for being such a great part of this community as it certainly wouldn't be the same with you!
Now onto the user we are awarding the Luke Thomason to this season! I'm going to let @sköldpaddor 's words take it from here:
"In communities like ours, it’s true more often than not that the most visible voices and contributions are the ones that are consistently hyped and recognized. In his role on the filework team, Rich has consistently performed some of the most important work in the league, work without which the league quite literally could not function. He did this reliably and without error for over five years, only stepping down recently to enjoy a much-deserved break from the week-after-week cycle of updating. Rich is also half of the league’s longest-running podcast, and makes sure the show goes on even when his other half isn’t able to make it. This is all work that he has done quietly, without any kind of request for recognition or putting his own name out there; Rich is one of the kindest, humblest people you could hope to interact with in this league, and it is our pleasure to award him with the Luke Thomason Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition for his years of dedication to keeping the league running."
Congrats @Rich on this well-deserved award!

Ron Mexico - League MVP

Becoming league MVP is no easy task! This is usually the most discussed award throughout the season. Like other categories, here’s the players that didn’t quite make the final nominations:

Jarrod Lakemore, Chris Valentine, Activity Check and Luca Pane.

And of course here are the details on your top three nominated players:

Jae-Ik Barron

Johnny Wagner-Svenson

Jiggle E. Puff

Here is how the voting went for this season’s MVP vote!

[Image: AD_4nXdbcVA00bIhO1jjQlPZOhhVsSNKI7y_-ymE...vhX3nuZmpF]
Jae-Ik Barron                       9 - 0 - 1 = 46
Johnny Wagner-Svenson        1 - 9 - 0 = 32
Jiggle E. Puff                         0 - 1 - 9 = 12

This one is pretty straight forward! Once again, here are your committee members' thoughts!

Barron's season is impressive, naturally, but the fact that JWS so thoroughly threw up the proverbial middle finger to the "centers are king" meta is even more impressive to me. He was eighteen points ahead of the next highest scorer on his team, when ordinarily you don't see wingers even approaching the same level of production as their own centers. He also did it all in less ice time than Barron, and laid nearly three times as many hits.

Jae-Ik dominated in goals and points. He played big minutes in all situations and he produced with and without the advantage.

The driving force behind Atlanta's surprising rise to the top this past season, Jae-Ik Barron was an absolute force for the Inferno. A 10 point lead over 2nd place for most points, a RIDICULOUS 19 GOAL LEAD over 2nd place, and a total of 64 goals that has them tied for the 4th most goals in a season OF ALL TIME. Jae-Ik is officially that guy, pal. Y'all better recognize.

Jae-Ik Barron's dominant offensive performance this season solidified his position as the league's MVP. Leading the league in both goals and points, Barron proved to be an unstoppable force, consistently driving his team towards victory. As the highest-producing forward on an SHL team, his impact on the ice was undeniable. Barron's exceptional skill, unwavering work ethic, and consistent scoring prowess made him the most valuable player in the league this season.

Jae-ik Barron: first in points and goals, in the top ten for GF/60 and SF/60, had some of the best corsi against/60 and fenwick against/60 numbers in the entire league and also had 19 goals above second place and a 10 point lead to second and 12 points more than his next best teammate.

For me it's between Jae-Ik Barron and Johnny Wagner-Svenson for first place. Jiggle E. Puff had an impressive season too but in overall numbers Johnny seems to come out on top between the two wingers. However Johnny's lack of short-handed time and lack of powerplay points compared to the other two makes me vote Jae-Ik for first place.

Jae-Ik gets the slight nod over JWS on my ballot, simply because the difference in points was so large. A full 10 point (and a massive 19 goal) lead over Wagner-Svenson helped Barron solidify the league's best record, the top seed in the playoffs, and made him the best player by far, on the best regular season team.

Atlanta had an amazing season, the best in the league, and Jae-Ik Barron was the biggest contributor to why. He played simply out of his mind, and fully earned this accolade.

So another big congrats to Jae-Ik Barron on winning the league MVP this season!!

Anton Razoff - Playoff MVP

Season MVP is one thing but Playoff MVP is another! Battling hard in the post season is something you expect your whole team to do but there’s always one player who stands out among the rest. Here are two who made the short list:

Tibuk Soonika and Dominik Winters!

And of course here are your top nominated players for the Playoff MVP award:
(I’m using index screenshots here as the cards only show regular season)
Sydney Shaw

Logan Webb

Dag-Otto Bjorntjanst

Here is how the voting went!

[Image: AD_4nXei0WmsE5FlZbAna2QncFTW6Aux2_Lc2FUy...vhX3nuZmpF]
Logan Webb            4 - 5 - 1 = 36
Sydney Shaw           5 - 5 - 0 = 40
Dag-Otto                 1 - 0 - 9 = 14

Here is what the committee had to say about their votes:

Webb produced the most and was a huge part of why SFP could repeat.

A fantastic playoff run by Shaw had her the most dominate defender on the ice, a top 5 point producer for the playoffs at over a point per game. Once again as a defender.

The fact that Sydney managed to more or less keep up with Logan and Dag-Otto in offensive numbers while putting up some pretty impressive defensive numbers earns my vote for first place. Especially as there are no other defenders with similar numbers while Logan and Dag-Otto managed to put up rather similar numbers. Between Logan and Dag-Otto, I feel like Logan just about claims second place as I feel he was more impressive in the playoffs.

Shaw had 25 points in the playoffs, crazy numbers for a defensive defender, as well as 18 TAs and 65 blocks. She did everything, in all parts of the ice, and while she didn't win SFP this cup alone, I don't think they win those nail biter series without her.

It's not too common that I give my vote to someone on the losing team, but DOB seriously impressed me here. He led the playoffs in assists, and was second in scoring, while not playing a single minute of power play time. Webb led scoring but was used heavily on the power play. DOB also had significantly fewer giveaways, and also contributed to the penalty kill which Webb did not.

A fantastic playoff run by Shaw had her the most dominate defender on the ice, a top 5 point producer for the playoffs at over a point per game. Once again as a defender.

21 goals in 22 games is all we need to know about Logan's playoff run. There were a ton of amazing performers, but a goal a game (almost) is unheard of territory for hockey players, a stat that would make even Wayne Gretzky blush

Logan Webb: points and goals leader in the playoffs with great advanced stats which included 21 G, 13A, 34 PTS (25 at EV), 1.55 PPG, 30 GA, 15 TA, 15 BLK, 41 HIT, 43SF/60(3rd).

Congrats again to Sydney Shaw, this seasons’ playoff MVP!

Sarmad Khan - Players MVP award

Finally we end off with the Sarmad Khan results! This is the player voted as league MVP by you! The community! All three nominated players mentioned this season have all had some place already here in this post awards presentation forum post! But here they are once more:

Johnny Wagner-Svenson

Scroll up to see their player card! JWS had a great season in TBB! Being a winger they are often to the side of the spotlight but JWS absolutely killed it this season and has every right to be here along side these other great players!

Jae-Ik Barron

Scroll up again friends! Their card is here a couple times! Jae-Ik absolutely crushed it this season and was a big part of Atlanta’s production. They scored 19 more goals than the 2nd leading goal scorer and that’s absolutely bonkers. Everyone loves a goal scorer!

Anastasia Soderstrom

Once again, scroll up for this beauty! Anastasia definitely deserves some high praise and seeing love for the goalies for the Khan is always appreciated! Their stellar performance and leading goals saved above average definitely deserves as much recognition as possible!

And here is how you the community voted:

This is a great post, with a very thorough write-up and interesting, readable graphics.

I appreciate the kind words, and am thrilled to read a lot of good things about Atlanta Inferno players. Seppanen is the biscuit winner of my heart.
