S80 Newfoundland Berserkers Awards
#1

The definitely not late Newfoundland Berserkers awards are back for Season 80, a season with a lotta highs but unfortunately ended in a lot of lows. On the positive side of things, it was an amazing regular season, we finished with the team's highest point total since Season 64! We had multiple players break franchise records and just a whole lot of great performances in general! Let’s hand out some awards!

Ryuuji Minamino Forward of the Year - Jason Bourne @SFresh3

Our first award of the year goes to Jason Bourne as he comfortably wins for forward of the year. An amazing season from Jason as he broke the Berserker record for most goals and points in a season with 56 goals and 103 points. Not only did he beat team records but he also led the entire league in goals scored and shots. Honourable mention to Jett Labyrinth (insert Obama awarding Obama meme) who broke the franchise record for most assists in a season with 61 and who was a faceoff monster.

Rand al'Thor Defenceman of the Year - Big Sweg @Samsung virtual assistant

The Zerks' whole d-core was great this year but Big Sweg has to get the award this year for stepping up and having an amazing season. He showed his offensive skills by leading all Zerk d-men in points and assists. He also played a very solid all-around role as he was top 3 amongst defenders in several categories like takeaways, plus/minus, shots, time on ice, and blocks. Honourable mention to Ivan Ivanovitch who led the league in goals from a defenseman with 20.

Mikko Rashford Rookie of the Year - Malte Hogberg @Henrik

This year the Zerks only had one rookie so not much competition but Malte Hogberg had a great season regardless so he definitely earned it. With almost no power play time, Hogberg managed to finish with a respectable 55 points and a very impressive +47 rating. He also showed his maturity for a rookie out there by being very good at limiting turnovers and had a nice record from the faceoff dot.

Cale Amundsen Goalie of the Year - Katherina Rosenthal @Symmetrik

No surprises here, as Rosenthal wins this award for the 3rd straight year and easily had her best year yet. Rosenthal led the whole league in wins, goals saved above average, and save percentage. Not only was she the best goalie on the team, she was the best goalie in the league and a huge reason why the Zerks had so much success in the regular season.

Patric Twist IA of the Year - James Connolly @JC420

The man, the myth, the legend had a little bit of competition this year but still came out on top for his second IA of the year award. Connolly was very solid in his backup role with a respectable .903 save percentage and a fantastic 14-4-2 record. Runner-up would be the only other inactive, Didzis Kreslins who was pretty decent in the 34 games he played in, notching 27 points.

Andrei Cleanest Player of the Year - Jimbob Ghostkeeper @mikebobcat

Our midseason addition was our cleanest player this season as he racked up just 25 penalty minutes. We appreciate Jimbob and how he embodies clean.

Harry Carpet Underrated Player of the Year - No This is Patrik @Symmetrik

A lot of contenders for this one but the one name that stands out is No This is Patrik. After converting to forward this season, Patrik had a stellar year with not a lot of playing time. He had an impressive 38 goals and 75 points, all at even strength on the third line while also leading the whole team in plus/minus rating of +65.

Volsungr Team MVP - Jason Bourne and Katherina Rosenthal @SFresh3 @Symmetrik

The prestigious team MVP came down to two players, Jason Bourne and Katherina Rosenthal. How do you differentiate the best goal scorer in the league with the best best goal stopper in the league? You make co-winners, the ultimate cop out. But for real they were both so influential to the team's success that it was impossible to not honour them both here.

Playoff MVP - Jason Bourne @SFresh3

The less we talk about the playoffs, the better. Let’s just say Jason Bourne was a bright spot for the squad, leading with 15 points in 8 games, and leading in CF%.

Luffy Most Dedicated User of the Year - Hamper Linthome @Sburbine

Is this cheating because he was GM? Maybe, but he’s not anymore and there’s no rules here at the Annual Berserkers award Hosted by Magenta™ so it’s fair and seems like the obvious choice here. Call it lifetime achievement award or whatever but no one has been more dedicated to the squad since I’ve joined the team, and is still helping out post-retirement.

The Yosh Team Spirit Award - Jason Bourne @SFresh3

Jesus Christ, that’s Jason Bourne with another award, building up quite the trophy cabinet here in Newfoundland. SFresh is the back-to-back champ here, what’s more to say here? Just a great all-around locker room guy and the officially the newest captain to Berserkers!

Berserkers Congrats to all the winners and let's go Zerks!  Berserkers
