S81 Texas Renegades Captaincy Announcement
#1

The Texas Renegades communications team meant to get this press release out prior to Season 81, but better late than never! For the Renegades and their fans, stability was key as the team continued to only slightly tweak their roster over the years as they pursued a cup. But, times change and so do the players within an organization. Going into Season 81, that is also true for Texas as they made some tough decisions to move on from franchise players and fan favorites.

Today, the Texas Renegades would like to announce their new team captain as well as their new assistant captains. These captains were voted on by the Texas players, and we could not be happier to announce their titles.

First, let us take a look and remember the former team captain and assistant captain who are no longer wearing the Renegades silver and black.

Former captain David-Arturri Donskoi made the tough decision to retire from the SHL prior to the Season 81 season. Donskoi, or DAD as his teammates knew him, was everything a team could ask for in a captain. He was a leader, a friend, and a mentor. Ask any Renegade player and they will tell you just how much they respected DAD and everything he brought to the franchise. We thank Donskoi for his years of service in Texas and he will always be remembered as one of the best team captains in franchise history!

Former assistant captain and MVP Chris Valentine was traded to the San Francisco Pride prior to the start of this season. Valentine was an incredible player, and an even better person. Not only did he win MVP, but Valentine also did everything possible for the Texas Renegades to win. Valentine made everyone around him better, and all Texas players and fans will miss seeing him wearing their sweater. Thank you to Valentine for everything he has done for the Renegades, and we wish him all the best for the remainder of his career!

Now, without further ado, let's start by announcing the new assistant captains for the Texas Renegades!

Renegades Assistant Captain #1 - Jack St. Clair Renegades

Veteran forward Jack St. Clair is one of your new Texas Renegades assistant captains! Season 81 will be St. Clair's fourth season as a member of the Renegades, and he has been nothing short of amazing during his time here. A force on the ice, his play speaks for itself and has made him one of the more feared forwards in the league. More importantly, St. Clair is an incredibly respected leader in the locker room. St. Clair is always one of the first Renegades to offer up advice to younger players and be there to celebrate each win. Although St. Clair has only been on the team for four seasons, it is no surprise to see a player and leader like St. Clair getting to wear the A this season because of the impact he has made during that time. Congrats, Jack!

Renegades Assistant Captain #2 - Marton Diehm Renegades

Power forward Marton Diehm is going to be in his eleventh season as a member of the Texas Renegades, and now he will get his first wearing the A on his jersey. Diehm is a fan favorite, and a team favorite in the locker room. Diehm is an incredible leader in every way, and someone that Renegades draftees look up to both off the ice and given his on the ice power forward style of play. Diehm has become a household name in Texas, and this was a no brainer selection as an assistant captain for the season. We could not be happier for Diehm as one of the newest assistant captains of the Renegades!

Renegades Assistant Captain #3 - Jack McCarthy Renegades

The third and final assistant captain for the Renegades this season is defenseman Jack McCarthy.  McCarthy will be in his tenth season with the Renegades in Season 81. Although McCarthy does not have the league knowledge like his fellow assistant captains (and captain), he has always done everything he can to be the best teammate possible. McCarthy is someone who has always taken a lot of pride in being a Renegade, and he could not be more honored to wear the A this season.

Now, the moment you have been waiting for. Without further ado, your new captain for the Texas Renegades is......

Renegades Captain - Hodor Renegades

Hodor! The big mountain of a man is your new Texas Renegades captain and will wear the C on his jersey for Season 81. As a member of the league, Hodor is one of the most well-known and knowledgeable members of the SHL. His teammates have all learned so much from him and he is always there to lighten the mood in the locker room or chat about life. On the ice, Hodor is the embodiment of a captain. Extremely selfless, Hodor is known as one of the best shot blockers in SHL history. His teammates have become used to his defensive style of play on the blueline helping out each and every night. The Texas Renegades fans and teammates could not be more excited to see Hodor wearing the C this season!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Congratulations to Hodor on being the new captain of the Texas Renegades, and to St. Clair, Diehm and McCarthy on their assistant captain selections. The Texas Renegades look forward to a great remainder of Season 81 with these players wearing the letters.
