S81 SMJHL PT#3 - Pre-game Playlist Due: Sunday, March 9th @ 11:59 PM PST
#46

1. Fata Morgana by Spiritbox
The explanation behind this one is easy, it's heavy as hell and makes you want to break whatever is on your path.

2. Rebuttal by Johnny Booth
In a very similar fashion, Rebuttal carries the energy of Fata, with heavy, angry screaming. It's the type of song to get your blood boiling. Coming out on the ice flat footed after these 2 tracks is unacceptable.

3. Restless by Balance and Composure
Restless is an odd intro song. It's droning and ominous. This song is a great middle song as it breaks up the chaos of the previous 2. It allows a moment of planning, thinking and contemplation. It also allows for the pump up music that is to come.

4. Out of the Black by Royal Blood
Classic 2010s pump up song. It's a riffy rock track that gets you moving.

5. I the Planet by Norma Jean
This song leaves you wondering for a few moments before crushing vocals scream "I HOPE YOU BURN" and the heaviest breakdown comes crashing down around you. Let's go boys

When Wilhem Seider gets the aux cord before Colorado games, here are his top 5 hits to play and get the group ready for some hardnosed hockey.

1.  Thunderstruck – ACDC
This song always gets the team pumped up and ready to rip.  The slow build up always gets Evil Jordan Humphrey (@Gwdjohnson) going, he typically lets out primal screams throughout the song.

2. Crazy Train – Ozzy Osbourne
Another rock jam to get everyone fired up.  The crazy electric guitar gets everyone ready to run an opposing player through the boards.  Evil Jordan Humphrey has even bitten the
head off of a live hamster in the locker room when this song has come on – he has been asked to stop multiple times, but refuses.

3. Wannabe – Spice Girls
This song is a light bop that gets every singing and laughing together, typically to try to get everyone to forget about what they just saw Evil Jordan Humphrey do with the hamster.

4. Gimme The Loot – Notorious B.I.G.
This song gets everyone feeling violent and ready to rob/inflict violence on the other team, literally and metaphorically.  Evil Jordan Humphrey has brought weapons on the ice.

5. Greyhound – Swedish House Mafia
The build up and delivery of this song gets everyone ready to play their best.

1. Night Moves - Bob Seger
Swiffer starts his playlist on a soothing note. Night Moves relaxes his nerves while he laces up his skates. It's the perfect song to begin the game day routine!

2. Spectator - Friday Pilots Club
Alright, we're starting to bump up the jams. Spectator gets Swiffer's head bobbing side to side; he's transported to a different dimension in his mind. Swiffer begins to see himself not just as a player for St. Louis, but for who he really is - a kid enjoying hockey.

3. Loud - The Home Team
This song gets Swiffer dancing around the locker room. He'll be jumping around, hitting his teammates on the back, and groovin'. Gotta get the jitters out before you get on the rink!

4. Honey, I'm Home - Shania Twain
That's right, Swiffer likes some 90s country music. Nothing better than Shania to get yourself focused on the upcoming game. Swiffer's home, and he's ready to take out the trash.

5. Take Me Back to Eden - Sleep Token
The grand finale. Everything about this song sends tingles down your arms and spine. This is when the lights will be brightest, and Swiffer is finally prepared. All the nerves are washed away; it's showtime.

A good pregame playlist has a few key characteristics. You have to have a solid build up. Cannot jump into the high energy stuff right away. Always finish with a certified banger that will set the tone for the game ahead. This is what I would classify as a solid 5 spot.

1. NOT MAD ENOUGH - Smith & Myers
Starts off nice and chill but slowly builds up to a bop of a finish.

2. Ocean Avenue - Yellowcard
A certified classic that will guarantee to get the locker room singing along.

3. Confident - Demi Lovato
Gotta instill the feeling of confidence in the team. A little girl power never hurt anyone.

4. Blackout - Solence
Now we are getting high energy. The team is finishing gearing up and starting to get antsy.

5. Thunderstruck - AC/DC
This track is near and dear to me as an entry song. Gets the team and the crowd going as they come out of the locker room.

1. Freebird- Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Falcons love playing Freebird as their mascot is a bird although they mostly play this after wins you will catch it being played pre-game from time to time.

2. Rockstar- Nickelback. For a junior team, this song is very fitting. all of the players for the Falcons have big aspirations and Rockstar does a great job of putting their dreams into a song.

3. I'm The Worst- Treaty Oak Revival. As one of the worst teams in the J aiming for a top draft pick, sometimes the Falcon players have to remind themselves of where they stand in comparison to the rest of the league.

4. Tweaker- Gelo. One of the top songs being played in locker rooms around the world at the moment. Is it really a pre-game playlist if it doesn't include Tweaker?

5. Lyft Em Up- Lil Uzi Vert. Not as popular as Tweaker, but this song has everything you would be looking for in a hype-up song. Bass, fast-paced, good lyrics.

I'm a fan of a variety of hype music, and my contributions would be from some lesser known artists. In real life I like to build over time from focus and prep into blood pumping jams, and end it like a drop in a the club.

"300 Violin Orchestra" - Jorge Quintero
Early on is no vocal music. Gets the unconscious mind ready and starts the hype and focus.

"Can't be Touched" - Roy Jones Jr. f/ Mr. Magic and Trouble
Nothing better than a fellow athlete and champion to remind you of greatness.

"Born to be Epic" - Equilibrium
Gutteral growls and a reminder of your calling to bring out the primal side.

"Thunderhorse" + Dethklok
Getting pumped to a chant is a time honored sports tradition for players and for fans. Refocus on the upcoming game

"A Cut Above" - Avary Watts
And the finale to walk out of the locker room to touch the ice for the first time is an absolute banger and the final reminder of "what it looks like to be the best"

Honorable mention to Kill Rob Bailey and Fever 333 who would also be represented on my playlist.

Songs that would be rocking in the Maine Locker room are

1. TIMBER - Kesha
2. You give love a bad name - Bon Jovi
3. Here I go again - Whitesnake
4. Tom Sawyer - Rush
5 Don't fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult.

That's right we are almost exclusively using the most effective motivational tool in the world. The Barney stinson get psyched Playlist!! When you're in a place where you need to get in the right mindset that nothing can stop you then of course you go directly to Mr.stinsons Playlist. Then of course we have to have our own song addition and it's timber by Kesha. Why? Because we're a team that's named timber. It would be a shame if we didn't have that in the mix. Together these songs give us the mental strength and attitude to get on the ice and tear any team apart. Don't fear the reaper but fear the timber.

1. Waking the Demon - Bullet for My Valentine
A solid metal song by the greatest metal band based in the British Isles ever (change my mind) to start this. Why listening to this masterpiece you say? Well, the intro of this song literally prepares you for an attack. You’re getting all of your energy, slowly, and once the first scream is heard, you unleash the demon and you’re ready to destroy your ennemies.

2. Thunderstruck - AC/DC
A classic rock song that every hockey player knows and has listened to as a warmup. It puts you in an electric mood and you connect with your teammates by screaming THUNDERSTROCK!

3. Mi Gente - J Balvin
We have some dancers in our locker room in Carolina so as a warmup some of them enjoy a little Latin dance and a classic one by J Balvin.

4. I’m shipping up to Boston - Dropkick Murphys
5. In the End - Black Veil Brides

Another classics! These ones are a reference to the two best NHL games ever made : NHL 11 and NHL 14. As we all love playing some NHL sometimes, we decided to put two of the best songs to figured in the games.

Matt Smith is a man of many tastes and has an eclectic combination of songs to help get them and their teammates amped!

  1. How To Train Your Dragon’s, Test Flight. An epic song, but since it’s instrumental it’s a nice way to ease into the warmups and pre-game hype, while saving the energy for the later in the playlist. And really what are dragons if not big birds?
  2. Tubthumping - Chumbawamba. It’s no secret that Detroit is steadily improving, but we’re not there yet. This is a fun happy song that gets you energized, but reminds us to just keep getting back up again, and getting out there.
  3. Could Have Been Me - The Struts. Building off that same theme as before, but really giving it everything you have and leaving nothing left behind.
  4. Ruthlessness -from the Epic Official Concept Album. A bit niche, but how can you not hear this song, and want to just go out there and beat the crap out of your opponents? We’ll show them just how Ruthless we can be!
  5. Seven Nation Army Glitch Mob Remix - We’re really getting serious about building up the energy and getting into the zone as we head out onto the ice with this one.

1. Man at the Garden - Kendrick Lamar
This one is purely for the mindset instead of the hype. CHIVO would play this just to have that game face on, intent to win without any compromise.

2. Praise Da Lord (Da Shine) - A$AP Rocky, Skepta
Flow hits the right levels to get you pumped. Plus this would be the one song CHIVO would pick from EVO's selection.

3. One Way - Daichi Yamamoto
This one is RESO's pick. It also has a flow and beat that hypes him up, but in a more focused manor.

4. City Boys - Burna Boy
Now this one is straight from Nigeria and his playlist. Afrobeats is a natural sound to him, expect him to pump some out whenever he gets the chance.

5. Helicopter - Bloc Party
And now for something different in his music mix. The opposite of Man at the Garden, if the team needs some energy to slam right through opponents, there is nothing but a good bit of rock to push you though.

Although alot of CHIVO's music tastes are different to the usual hockey soundtrack (at least he presumes, everyone is unique after all), he won't mind showing some variety to the mix just to spark new moods and thoughts, after all, just being in a new environment does the exact effect for him.
