Deep Dive #1 Reviewing the S81 Draft Top 10 Rookie Campaigns
#1

1:   Detroit Falcons  - Thurston Bull LW | 18 G 24 A 42 PTS
The Falcons would like to forget most of their season outside of the production of Bull. Although they sit second to last at the end of the season, Bull has thrown up an impressive 42 points and has solidly cemented himself as the first line left winger. Its only up from here for the Falcons and Bull is going to be a big part of the upswing.

2:   St. Louis Scarecrows  - Toivo Jokinen C | 20 G 15 A 35 PTS
Jokinen’s rookie season left a lot to be desired with only 35 points. While the Scarecrows were definitely hoping for a high production rate from their rookie the team has room to grow as well so it doesn’t all fall on the rook. Scarecrows will be looking to bolster their lineup in the upcoming draft to support Jokinen.

3:   Great Falls Grizzlies  - Troy Martone C | 6 G 18 A 24 PTS
Martone was another player that left a lot to be desired after his rookie year, when he only tallied twenty-four points on the score sheet. Currently centering the second line on the basement dwelling Grizzlies, hopefully the club can use some draft capital to build a solid foundation for Martone to grow in.

4:   Thunder Bay Walleye  - Benoît Jean-Luc Boucher C | 26 G 48 A 74 PTS
Everyone has been talking about Boucher’s rookie campaign. Rookie of the year, pick of the draft, the all mighty Boucher took the league by storm this season and plans on marching the Walleye deep into the playoffs.

5:   Vancouver Whalers  - Thomas Passarelli RD | 14 G 18 A 32 PTS
Vancouver was an already strong team that added the necessary depth needed with Passarelli. They finished 4th and they have an opportunity to get a four star cup. Passarelli’s number will be called soon and he will have some big shoes to fill once top defenders like Mulder and Frappe move onto their SHL clubs.

6:   Kelowna Knights - Bartholomew Aittokallio Lorequavius RD | 15G 40A 55 PTS
7:   Kelowna Knights - Aartholomew Bittokallio Lorequavius LD | 3 G 29 A 32 PTS
Kelowna made some moves in the trade market to acquire these picks and used them on the Lorequavius twins. They have held the blue line firmly on the second line and play with a seemingly telephonic ability on the ice. A genius move by this GM to take these defensive Sedin-like twins. They should be on the first line soon and will they continue together into the SHL? I am excited to find out.

8:   Carolina Kraken - Erkki Kaila LW | 17 G 31 A 48 PTS
9:   Carolina Kraken - Ryan Dino-Nugget Hopkins RW | 13 G 22 A 35 PTS
Carolina turned these picks into a combined 83 points this season and that could be about as good as they could hope for from these two and they did so from the fourth line. Carolina is looking to make a playoff run and these two are going to provide the depth for one.

10:   Colorado Raptors - Wilhelm Seider RW | 16 G 28 A 44 PTS
Colorado was one of those teams that were better than their record shows. They have the talent to be a top team and Seider put up a decent 44 points. If they continue to draft well and Seider’s growth continues to develop they will be a threat in the coming seasons.

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”
