Of course we have all seen goals being a big thing, but with the amount of shots Buffalo takes a game, one important change that has to be made is obviously the addition of a bigger goal, the small goal will stay like normal and get you 3 goals, however a 2nd bigger goal (potentially with its own goalie) will be added behind it, around the size of a soccer goal, getting you 1 point if you score in that one. This way Lakemore can shoot even more and we would have beaten the New England Wolfpack quite easily, and maybe even go on a nice cuprun. But hey who knows while this is obviously the most amazing solution a 2nd option might be just increasing the size of the normal goal, if ice hockey is scared of awarding different amount of points depending on which goal the puck was scored into. Another option would be to not give time penalties anymore, Chicken can finally go back to his form when he won the most PiM award.

Option 1: You want carnage? Alright.

After the Finals of both are complete, a drawing occurs of all non-playoff teams and concurrently, a vote occurs on who is the Final-winning team's most valuable overall player. Then, the winners of both the SHL and the SMJHL are obligated to trade that most valuable players to whichever team was drawn in each league. Arbitrators will be employed to ensure that the trades are reasonable but benefit the non-playoff team receiving the MVP more than the Cup winner.

Cue the madness. San Francisco might very well dominate the season because they're a very good team, but do they look anywhere near as monstrous if Justin Time is shipped off to Toronto or Logan Webb goes to Hamilton? The impact will be less in the J, because obviously players are there for a maximum of four years and anybody good enough to be judged a Cup-winning team's MVP isn't going to be a raw rookie, but in the big leagues? Hooboy. Imagine the scenes when somebody who's just signed for your team in free agency wins you a Cup and is then booted to your bitter rivals.

I would add a moderate amount of chaos, but still would find a way to reward teams for their regular season success. Regular season has to have some meaning after all (besides just deciding who makes the playoffs). So. I'm implementing a new playoff format. For the most part works just like regular playoffs, but there are two catches. The first one is that playoffs are kicked off with Playoff Draft (Part 1). This means that all teams can choose one F, one D and one G to keep. The rest of the players go to the draft pool, and the playoff teams will select (snake draft, starting from the first seed) which players they are renting for their playoff run. Once that's done, happens Playoff Draft (Par 2). This is where teams, starting from the first seed, select their first round opponent. This happens until all teams have an opponent. The idea is that although finishing high has its advantages, it will also create more tension. Some teams get a chip on their shoulder for being selected first, while the team that nobody wants to select also gets a confidence boost when they realize teams are afraid of them. Should add some parity and excitement!

i've always been a big fan of mvp voting based on someone who's within the top 10 leaderboard on a big category, whether that be overall points or just goals or assists or whatever, but isn't on one of the top teams. this go around i'm highly likely to vote for my incredible teammate shadow fenix logging a 103 point season, but we're a top 5 team in the league so someone on seattle popping off isnt entirely unexpected. if i were not to vote for my teammate this year, i'd be looking at someone like trevor lahey or gordon gibbles. insanely impressive to put up more than 40 goals in a season on a team that in hamiltons case didn't make the playoffs, and in torontos case barely made it but was essentially just fodder to be crushed in round 1 by nature of our playoff format. these teams are rebuilding and figuring out their new identities but clearly trevor and gordon have already found it, and it's cool to see guys like that have insane years without a top roster behind them. like you say in the prompt nobody is surprised to see logan webb get tons of goals with a dynasty roster around him, but guys like trevor and gordon go crazy every season from unexpected teams and less of an all timer supporting cast

Written option 2:

I’ll be honest with y’all. When I go to vote on both the Khan and Lindsay, I filter between the three positions to see if anyone had a standout season.

The measure of great goaltenders and forwards are about as different as can be, understandably. So It is in my best judgment that they should be compared to themselves for the vote. This is not to say that those forwards who top the leaderboard in points are not valid. Far from it. I am simply expanding my view on where my own vote should go.

My predictions won’t be bold. Logan Webb will obtain an overwhelming majority of the votes and understandably so. In fact it is far more likely that whomever puts up the most points going forwards will as well. With FHM 10 around the corner, we may even see new records broken and of course patterns established. Perhaps even a sea change in the way people on the site vote for the Khan?

Written Option 2:
I made the MVP case for Kal Akar Kekkonen last season in a deep dive, and since then the Seattle Defenseman has only turned up the heat. He continues to be the premier offensive defenseman in the SHL, finishing with a league high 29 goals and 3rd in points with 56. Kekkonen has been extremely efficient with the puck on his stick, leading SHL in shot percentage, and he is by far the best option to have quarterbacking your power play. Though it’s hard to compare a forward to defenseman in terms of overall production, Kekkonen has a case against Logan Webb for MVP simply due to the minutes he plays, how efficient he is, and how that translates to team success. For example, Webb tends to give up the puck attempting dazzling plays, while Kekkonen rarely turns it over, opting for the safest play. Overall, the offensive production and consistency Kekkonen provides while playing superb defensive and possession oriented hockey should put him in the MVP running

I think there are a few different options you could do to make the game more unpredictable without turning it into a complete clown show - despite however fun that would be. First I think the answer for overtime would just be endless 3-on-3. Everyone knows it's an electric way to end the game, why not just extend it into the playoffs? There's no reason to water it down to 5-on-5 while threes is just simply more exciting. I think incorporating some sort of wildcard round would add some excitement / upsets as well. There are always teams that seem to flounder during the regular season and somehow come to life in the post-season, so adding a wildcard round would be an interesting way to shake the bee's nest. Lastly - for maximum chaos - once a game goes into overtime, the ice slowly starts to melt until players are just running on hard-wood floor with skates.

Solaire has some great ideas that can mix it up, honestly the first and foremost would be that each and every player have to play a position they are not normally, IE the Goalie has to play as a Forward, the Forward has to play as the goalie, and so on and so forth. Make the defensemen play on the wings, and the wingers play defense. You want stuff to be really mixed up and make sure no one knows what is happening? This is the way to do that. Keep everybody on their toes and make sure that you have people not really understanding the new positions that they are in. On top of that, change up some of the rules, make the offsides line the second line instead of the first line, or make it that you can interfere with the goalie, or the defensemen or the wingers, etc. to make it a more fast paced, and more intense game overall.

Written option 1:

The rule change I would submit for more parity and chaos would be an automatic two minute power play to any team who is scored on twice consecutively. The chaotic catch is that if you are scored on twice in a row, you get a sixth skater. Teams who score twice in a row get to keep their five players on the ice, but are still down one player for a couple of minutes. After two minutes, the extra attacker has to immediately head to the bench, or face a too many players penalty. If the scoring team kills off the penalty, they can score twice more before getting another penalty.

This is not an automatic goal by any means. It crowds the ice and complicates the offensive zone for the team on the power play. It adds a slight advantage, but gives the leading team a chance to keep that gap. This would make it an exciting watch for the audience, and help keep games close.

I think that Henri Losanov or Kalakar Kekkonen from the Seattle Argonauts should get consideration for the Sarmad Khan MVP award given the impact that they have had on the Seattle Argonauts this year. The Argonauts are a younger team that is on the rise and these two players played a big role for the team. Losanov was a solid backstop for the Argonauts and stole them a couple of games that were important in their playoff push. Kekkonen provided a ton of offense from the back end as well as a solid defensive performance, and created an environment that was open for the forwards like Squidwardo Tentacles or Will Tomlander or Shadow Fenix to go out and try to be as offensive as possible to the opposing team. These types of players are under appreciated and should see more recognition by the league, but sadly that trends towards the players with the most flashy numbers such as Logan Webb - no offense intended to Logan.
