[S83] Brain Fluid Explosion - 217 TPE - C - MEMENTOS, THE COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS
![]() Oh boy, I saved this one for last and was honestly just thinking we’d be hanging out in our minds or souls, but not. My understanding is that it’s a video game called Persona 5 and that Memontos is a dungeon in the collective unconscious where unconscious minds are held because they haven’t developed their own manifestation of distorted beliefs. They’re not yet strong enough to be released, so they stay here until they are. I’m also pretty positive this place is referred to as the palace of sloths and I’m totally okay with this name as it makes it sound like a little bit better of a place? Then again, have a bunch of sloths staring at you forever and I’d probably get a bit creeped out. Looking at pictures on google, it presents itself in red and looks to have a lot of evil throughout it. Seemingly a subway station somewhere in Tokyo, what could go wrong, right? Right??
Brain Fluid Explosion is one of the top players in the draft and based on my VERY limited research on their birthplace, I’d strongly attribute their talents to coming from here. If their mind wasn’t ready to be released and manifestations of their stuff wasn’t at a level of acceptance, they never would have left I imagine. Place looks evil and dark to me. It doesn’t look like a fun place to be and of the 3 places we chatted about in this article, it’s the least of the places I’d want to be. South Park? Sure. Isengard in the present day? Probably peaceful with better food. This scary ass red place where they trap minds, have creepy hellish looking beasts and monsters and having to carry around badass weapons to protect yourself? Yeah, as a hockey player and agent, it’s just not for me. However, it REALLY looks to have served Brain Fluid Explosions well. They’ve clearly got a sharp mind and it’s going to serve them strongly in the SMJHL/SHL. [S83] Lurtz Makoare - 210 TPE - G - ISENGARD, ROHAN
![]() Alright, unlike Luka Lilja’s place of birth, this one I get a little bit more. While I’m not super hardcore into Lord of the Rings and the absolutely amazing world and story that was created there, I’m still a big fan. I love the LOTR movies. I’ve seen them a ton and know enough about them to understand what’s going to be going on for Makoare. It’s a stronghold on the North Western portions of the Kingdom of Gondor and usually has found peace, prosperity and a long lasting wish for all things good in the world. However, within its history lies a lot of darkness as some powerful and badass wizards have taken over the place with horrible intentions. As lots of us know, maybe one of the most evil wizards of all time took the stronghold/fortress by siege and laid claim to its territories. Saruman was a bad boy and for many years turned the place to chaos, destruction and evil with his little ogre pals in the hopes of loyally serving their ruling leader Sauron. Fortunately for the world and all those who lived in it, the War of Rings was lost by the terrible powers and peace was restored to the land. While this was history and long before Lurtz time, I have a feeling similar to Harry Potter that you just never know when something bad is going to come about in these worlds. Are people still thirsting for that ruling power to control everyone and make life dark and scary as opposed to beautiful with flowers? For this one, I have a few questions but sticking to the one question format we’re bombing with today, let’s squish it and break the science down.
Saruman was a bad motherfucker who did some terrible deeds. The history is well known and they surely most know all the stories from mama and papa as a child. How does this dark, but rich history affect a player like this? Well, I guess the easiest way to put it is having something to be proud of and something to work for. This history is dark, no doubt, but there’s a lot of amazing times before it, some during and certainly the world must be relishing in the beauty of the world at present time. The darkness has left the skies and that creepy eye that watched everyone's movements is gone now, too. While there’s many bonuses from getting rid of that big old eye, a few others were noted that the public liked the most. The eye was a huge tattle tale when it came to running yield signs and would constantly be telling on the public to law enforcement. They also helped with petty shoplifting and we all know times are tough. With the one true ring destroyed, are we concerned? I mean, they want to make Wooly Mammoths again and just recently released the news that they brought back an animal similar to the dire wolf. Can the ring be replicated? Do they still live with this fear that someone out there is trying to get back into power and history repeating itself? This anxiety could be a lot in these towns. However, it gives the player a lot of strength and resilience as well. I think this strong history runs through the players' blood and will long serve for all the battles they’ll face in the league. [S83] Luka Lilja - 208 TPE - C - SOUTH PARK, PARK COUNTY
![]() This one I wasn’t 100% sure on. When I saw it, I 100% assumed we’re going into “South Park” land but as always, with a quick Google, it turned out to prove me wrong. However, I’m going to go with my gut on this one and say that they were actually born in the universe of the animated television show “South Park” and that their upbringing, way of life and everything they know is based on that experience. The location has slightly over 4,300 people and while it isn’t big, I feel like it’s certainly big enough to have an effect on people. I haven’t been a huge watcher of the TV series, but I know of its popularity, its memes and that it at times can be quite legendary and funny. For me, I guess I’d have one main thought at how this is going to affect the player moving forward with their SMJHL career.
Who did they hang out with while there? Did they hang out with the normal crew of Eric, Kenny, Kyle and Stan? We’re they always getting into shenanigans which may have slightly affected their draft performance? More importantly, knowing that Kenny is a character that always seems to find unfortunate luck and pass away in a huge chunk of episodes, how did this possibly affect Luka? Losing a friend all the time would be really hard. When we look under the microscope and break this science down, we think that coming from South Park could actually be a great thing for Lilja. For starters, they’re likely going to bring an edge of humour to the team that’s rare. It’s apparently a funny show most of the time and that’s going to be an asset in their respective locker rooms. Then, with Kenny always kicking the bucket, I think this is going to add a lot of strength to their character. You know you can count on them during the tough times to push through and keep on trucking. The place is beautiful and the colours are vibrant and we believe these colours and vibrancy have a strong potential of mimicking their careers. It’s likely to be colourful and vibrant because of where they come from - or at least, have the chances of being. 1,328 words, 3 pictures, [x2 SMJHL Draft Media] ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Senior Member ![]() SHL GM SHL GM |
