The offseason is so long and there’s so much to do! People want to get paid already?! Let us at least play a game, you know? Where do they think the money to pay them is coming from? It’s concession sales, stupid! A Coke isn’t 9 American dollars because it cost us 8 to make.  Anyhow, you aren’t here to talk about the SSRI financial situation, are you? (If you’re from the bank, you have to tell me. Banks, police, FBI: same deal.)

We held our first ever SSRI Entry Draft at an absolutely gorgeous Doubletree in Irvine, CA. I highly recommend them, just lovely palm trees and rose bushes around the grounds. That’s Doubletree Arborists, for all your planting, trimming, and removal services. They don’t normally rent out the big equipment shed for events, but since we had already shown up and didn’t have any backup plans, they were willing to accommodate.

With that wrapped up, we focused on getting player name merch ready for purchase by their friends and family. Our partners at Frenetic Apparel did a great job for us, fully living up to their slogan: “Quantity over quality, and speed over quality control.” In the list of the top 20 selling jerseys for our first month, half of the top 8 are from the Big Island Tiki. We love to see our Hawaiian audience showing their support, since hockey is a sport that barely any of them are aware of. Except we realized that we were charging way too little for shipping—Hawaii is so freaking far AWAY—so that’s kinda biting us in the butt and we’re gonna have to overcharge everybody else from now on to make up for it. Sorry not sorry.

Some big names coming to the fore as the teams start to figure out their tactics and build chemistry. I mean, some of these names are so big they don’t even fit in the leaderboard charts. The second best goalie in this list is Aguirre, the Wrath of WHAT? I could find out if I looked at the roster or bothered to learn who any of these scrubs are, but I don’t see how that’s really my job. Here are the Top 8 in Points and GAA for the preseason:


And I think that's pretty much everything I can be bothered or legally allowed to talk about at this juncture. Just a couple pending lawsuits to get out of our way, the usual "dot the Ts, cross the Is, settle out of court" rigmarole. But then we've got a full slate of games lined up for Opening Night and remember that we'll be streaming one game live every week! Just follow my nephew's Twitch account for alert, get involved in the chat, and if you see his mother remind her that she still owes me $40 because I ordered the Mother's Day flowers for Mama and put both our names on the card. But I love you sis, I love you nephew Breighden, and I love all my SSRI fans, too!
