No one has been suspended because of their rep though. . .

No one's rep activates and says "OK, bro, that guy just negged us so it's time to start insulting him like we just got out of a middle-school class and we just learned a brand new word".

Rep is pretty pointless, sure, but it's not what is to blame here, and if your rep ends up getting you suspended than it's your own fault. Period.
