The side bar we currently have is unappealing. I didn't even know we had the index link at the very bottom until now lol.

You have the SHL S14 underway on the very bottom and the index, these should be moved up.

That said, you also have "S14 underway" at the top which makes it redundant.

We want to use the side bar to attract new members. Get as much information possible so:

This lets new members know the past winner. It covers that part of the history. They will also know that it will be season 14

This will help players get started with navigation. You have the welcoming committee plus this. It will make it more appealing. Even if there's no welcoming committee, they will be able to go their way just by looking at the side bar. Even then, if they browse the site without even creating an account yet, they will know the basics and their mindset will be that it's player friendly.
