Oilers Be a GM
#1

Always enjoyed be a gm with the oilers.

After 21 games we sit with 24 points
11-8-2

Team has been playing great hockey in the last 5 outscoring opponents 25-7.

Leading scorer is RNH with 27 Points (11 G 16 A)
Fasth has played very good hockey this year, played 14 games going 9-4-1 with a GAA of 1.86 and SV% of .937

Hall (88) - RNH (86) - Perron (84)
Yakupov (83) - Gagner (84) - Eberle (85)
Arcobello (81) - Gordon (81) - Smyth (80)
Joensuu (77) - Hendricks (78) - Jones (80)

Ference (84) - Schultz (83)
Larsen (79) - Petry (83)
Fraser (79) - Belov (78)

Fasth (83)
Scrivens (82)

Boosted Arco and Scrivens a little bit.

Rumors:
It seems like the Leafs and Oilers were talking about a possible Klefbom/Marincin and Gauthier swap, both GMs were unavailable for comment but the deal would make sense for both teams (Oilers lacking big center prospects and Leafs need young depth on defence)

Marincin is much closer to being NHL ready than Gauthier but FG seems to have more potential and a better chance to succeed in Edmonton.

Team is now 27-29-4

They are still in a playoff spot but are barely holding onto it. Team has been complete garbage before the Olympic Break, winning just 1 of 7 games (Including a 9-1 loss to the rival Nucks).

Goals: Hall 24G 24A +4
Assists: RNH 19G 39A +7
Points: RNH 19G 39A +7

Hall-RNH-Eberle has scored 154 Points between them including 64 Goals
The 2nd line has produced 116 Points (Yakupov/Gagner/Perron)

The top 6 hasn't been an issue as everyone is producing but the bottom 6 has been a -51 so far this year. It's an issue that GM Mehdi will have to address.

The defence's only issue has been Fraser, his constant turnovers haven't helped the Oilers chase a playoff spot (-9 Rating, 1 of 2 - defensemen)

Breakout player:
Philip Larsen
6G 12A 18P +8

His game has grown since the start of the season (+2 OA) and Oilers fan are noticing.

Martin Marincin was called up a while back and has 6 points in 18 games with a -6 but his puck moving ability has only helped the Oil.

With trade deadline coming up, no one is quite sure of Mehdi's plans.

First deal done!

Analysts speculated that they were playing Marincin to show him off to a certain team and he's been dealt to the Leafs

To the Oilers:
Frederik Gauthier (66 OA, 4 Green Stars)
Jay McClement (80)

To the Leafs:
Martin Marincin (78 OA, 3.5 Green Stars)
Roman Horak (76 OA, 4 Yellow Stars)

Deal seems bad for the Oilers but adding tough gritty centers is huge for the Oil, Gauthier has the potential to be a big 2nd line center who can contribute on both sides of the puck. McClement is easily one of the best 4th liners in the NHL and may make one of Gordon/Hendricks available.

Marincin is a good 4th dman who can easily play on the 1st unit, he will be sent to the marlies before playing with the big club. Roman Horak had requested a trade because of bad coaching in OKC, and the fact he wouldn't see any time in the oilers top 6 ever.

Also a minor deal, Smyth (50% Retained) + 2 Prospects to the Devils for their STL 2nd. Devils are gearing up for playoff run and have wanted Smyth for a while now.

Made a few other deals!

Lines are now:
Hall - RNH - Eberle
Perron - Gagner - Yakupov
Colborne (79) - Gordon - Arcobello
Joensuu - McClement - Tyrell (77)

Ference - Schultz
Klefbom (77) - Petry
Brodie (80) - Larsen

Scrivens
McElhinney

Dealt Jones+Musil+2nd Next for Colborne+Brodie
Fasth+Hendricks+Gustafsson for CBJ for W.Weber, Tyrell and McElhinney

Now after a 40-38-4 season...

THE OILERS MADE THE PLAYOFFS!

The team who finished 10th last in the league made it, surprising all analysts and even the players themselves!

The Oilers finished 5th in Goals Scored and 24th in Goals Against.

The LA Kings started off the year incredibly bad, they were dead last in the conf and needed some life, and they caught fire and ALMOST made it. The Oilers believed they were out and played a relaxed game of hockey which led them to a 4 game winning streak to end the year, that pushed them ahead of the Kings for the last wildcard spot.

They have beaten the Sharks in 6 games to advance to the semi finals (Note: I am not playing any games, and I haven't so far)

Damn, Oilers went all the way to finals and were leading the Red Wings 3-1 after 4 games but choked and lost the next 3.

Beastly first season though !
